Each pixel in my monitor has RGB, and I am glad about it. Not a gimmick.
Oof
Love him or hate him but he's spitting facts!
It’s a scientific fact!
Well damn lol
😅😅
I have a monitor that says it's windows 10 compatible.
i imagine it's just across the whole screen like a watermark
That means your monitor doesn't support Mac computers.
basshead but it's just a monitor

Yes, it's just a monitor, but it has it's own views on it.
@@darrant7723 That's called a windows update.
How'd he forget to mention RAM, the greatest gimmick ever?
All you need to buy is the first couple or so gb, the rest can be downloaded for free.
Watch his 2 videos on ram it’s not as much of a gimmick as you think
Aled smoke a blunt holy
I’ve been saying this for years
Graphics cards are a ripoff too you can just download them
Aled woooosh
I like to use all my RGB as temperature settings, meaning its green when cold and red when hot
Orange when mild etc
Its cool
That's actually quite creative
@@BosSupes Not really when the RGB software has inbuilt temp lighting settings, Problem is not all RGB temp settings use the same color! Example Asus ROG strix cards have green to red lighting based on temp, then say you have a thermeltake AIO CPU cooler that uses blue to red and has the pump and 2 to 3 fans lighting up compared to a tiny part on the GPU so unless your looking at your case or have RGB in your peripheral vision while gaming which is annoying ASF it's really not that great and its certainly not creative :D
So you add more heat to the system by using LED's? That's stupid
The noise of my fans does exactly the same for free. As does any freeware for temperature display.
Funny, I have a RGB system too, and glass panels, and the PC is stuck in a PC compartment in a desk, I can't see anything anyway. But muh RGB!
Well, I only bought it because that was the cheaper option at the time during sale hunts (Yeah, the parts I was after didn't come in non-RGB variants, how sad is that :/ )
@@egonieser money well spent!
You may have the most ergonomic chair but a table with the wrong height spoils all the experience. Table: the most underrated part of any setup.
in my case i cuted of the legs to get to the height i wanted, and if u need to increase the height u can put 4 bricks under....
Yeah my chair helps my back immeasurably, but too high a keyboard/mouse stand gave me some RSI issues.
That said just got an Oculus and basic HOTAS - Actually built a small table for that, measured everything up so it was comfy and it's great.
This is highly true
You can also compensate by lifting your chair and placing something under your feet, cheaper and easier then trimming down table/desk legs
agree! id rather have a table that is higher than half the height of the chair. (one that is adjustable) so that everything fits so my KNEES aren't on the ground to make me feel comfortable sitting at my short desk.

I regret my “gaming” chair so much. I can only sit for about 3 ish hours before I have to walk around. My office chair is so much better.
I remember when these started becoming popular. Fry's had tons of them, so I tried them out and I couldn't believe how flimsy and uncomfortable they are. That's when I decided they were a gimmick and laugh any time someone brings up wanting one.
I got one to match the color scheme. It made me miss the super comfy office chair with heat pads and a massage function that I used for 5 7-8 years until I moved. It's still at my mom's house but when we moved there, I lost the cord somehow and now it's just a comfy chair...

My daughter has a gaming chair and it’s probably one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in, and I’m getting the same kind for myself soon
@@techtime2922 if itc comfortable go for the same model bc you never know with these
@@techtime2922 Where My problem comes from is that I work from home, I spend at least 8 hours in the chair per day. And over the last year its been closer to 14 hours per day. A soft chair might be nice to sit in for an hour or two, but after 8 or more hours, my entire body is sore from having to support my weight in an non-optimal position. When I bought a chair with ergonomic features, My butt is a little more sore, because the seat is harder, but my back, and my knees, and my shoulders, and my neck don't hurt anymore because it keeps my body aligned ergonomically.

Jay can you do a video on some good options for ergonomic chairs at various pricepoints please?
I'd be especially interested in ones that DO NOT HAVE ARMRESTS. Or, at the very least, whose armrests are super easy to remove without affecting the structural integrity or ergonomic design of the chair. Armrests are demonic for actually getting anything done or getting into a solid gaming session.
Go see the "ikea markus"

@@ruigoncalves7157 Sweet. That does look like an amazing chair. Looks like the arm rests can be removed with a simple hex head bolt with zero issue?
Yes, you can remove the arms, but you will see the places for the screws.
Watch David Zhang review, he explained the good and bad points of this chair.
You still have the "Ikea JÄRVFJÄLLET", more expensive but a lot more cleaner imo, some people say that's more comfortable than Markus, other will say Markus it's better.

Call me old, call me ancient...but I remember the days when a SINGLE socket could take processors from Intel, AMD or Cyrix. Miss those days.
Yep, I remember those days very well, as I was in high school at that time taking computer network technologies classes at county vocational, and I had brought my computer in to do some work on it in the shop which was a AMD K6-II 400Mhz machine, and I had a classmate who had his rig in as well for service with a Cyrix CPU in it, and after dropping in the 550Mhz K6-II and setting up the FIC board to get it OC to 560Mhz stable on Win 98se, and asked him if want my old CPU, and it dropped right in no issues, and took his little 250Mhz machine to 400Mhz So yeah those days where awesome, but then Intel had to be Intel, and stop playing nicely, and move to the Slot design with a CPU on a card.
You're not old. You're ancient 😂. That was before quake. Quake killed cyrix as a company
I'm right there with you. The days of the 286, 386, and 486. Once Intel started making pentiums you had to choose one or the other.
Wasn't that time was VERY short lived though? I thought most people only remembers that you could use a wide range of Intel processors but hardly ever this or they say "for a belief amount of time" between Intel/AMD.
when was last time that happen oh yeah... that why it so fucking slow.....

I can speak for my fellow Filipino's, that's what every new internet cafe advertises when they just recently open "high spec gaming PC's, high specs, PUBG, CSGO, Dota 2 ready, 60fps, 144hz monitors, low ping, lag free" then when you go to the shop the moment you press Alt+Tab while in-game BAM the fcking game you're currently playing crashes, half the games they installed are 2012 or 2011 with a shit ton of other games around the 2000-2010 era and only a few shops have recent triple A titles and 1/4 of those shops machines have the required specs to run them smoothly.
I mean, sure... at first glance this seems pretty stupid, but there are plenty of people who have literally no clue when it comes to computers. Those are the people that go into a store and ask the sales person: "My son wants to play game X or Y, what can you recommend me?". Those people don't care about specs, clock speeds, transfer rates or anything else and they don't want to deal with all that... All they want is a computer that can properly run Fortnite or whatever and if a label like this helps them in making a (better) purchasing decision, there's nothing wrong with that, don't you think?

Said mind blowing were a couple of blood vessels from the reasoning. Why care about how a chair looks if you're literally never going to see it when it is doing the important thing, your butt being on it?
@@Hiniberus I can understand his reasoning. Why not buy something you like if you have the money? There is no dispute that you can find a cheaper office chair that fits your body but there are people in this world who care about how their furniture looks and if they like "racing" chairs and it fits in their gaming room then so be it.
If you are on a budget then I get it. However if you can afford it buy whatever the hell you want if you like it. And the reason may be as simple as "it looks cool".

An often overlooked item on chairs is the armrest padding. I cannot stand sitting in a chair for an extended period of time where the armrests are just plastic, or are under-padded. I've gone so far as to take apart armrests and stuff them with memory foam in order to improve their cushion.

Couldn't agree more about the chair. I was about to drop $400 on a DX Racer chair, but then I realized I could get a refurbished Herman Miller for $100 more. At the time I figured, "Well I'm gonna be spending a lot of time sitting at my computer, so the extra money will be worth saving my back"
I would make the same decision again if need be. My Aeron is sooo comfortable
I got a Vertagear gaming chair 2 or 3 years ago and I thought it was so cool when I first got it. 2 years later and the seat material was cracked and my back would hurt after sitting in it for long periods, even with a break to stand up every hour. I upgrade to a Steelcase Gesture on the same logic "I spend a lot of time in this thing, I shouldn't cheap out on it." It's well worth the price and honestly even cheaper ergonomic solutions would be better than any racing style gaming chair with their utter disregard for comfortable sitting.
I looked at DX racer, didn't really care for how they looked, and i wasn't sure how durable they'd be. Ended up with a noble chair, there really weren't any really good office chairs I could get my hands on (that met my requirement of removable arms.) I live in a pretty small town, online is the only way to get such things. So far it's been great

"It's your butt; put it where you want." That's gotta be my favorite quote ever from you, Jay. Gotta make a t-shirt with that "feature"!
Usually it is another piece of anatomy one puts where he wants, and the butt is a common destination, especially for guys like you, not that I am judging.
I’m currently saving up for a gaming pc as I’m sick of consoles at this point. I have never been more confused with researching parts. I’ve never built a pc before and this video has helped clear up some of the confusion
The irony is never more perfect when the ad spot for a video about PC Gimmicks vs Features includes a line about "150% more gold content" alongside "17-phase power delivery". That right there is 150% more internet gold, no question. Jay, you're the king!
Green RGB makes your system environmentally friendly.
Nah, it looks like 🤮
or hulk mad
Nya
Nah that stands for the extra money spent for RGB
Red Wunz go Fastah!
The irony of the sponsor for this video. 150% more gold content, amazing feature
i mean, gold is a better conductor than the standard metal normally used, it will also have a longer life span and doesn't tarnish, and is generally a much better metal for electricals than the standard metals normally used.
@@kuston1986 Doesnt mean shit, they could have got 1 mg of gold on a single tooth of the IO shield and now they have 2.5 mg so 150%!
@@kuston1986 Copper is a better conductor than gold , gold's only feature in this field is it lasts longer without degrading , so unless your contacts degrade past that of the value of golds conductivity then the gold is a useless feature
@@kuston1986 The only value of gold in PC applications id to plate contact surfaces that are exposed to air, Ex. CPU/RAM/PCIe/M.2 slots and rear I/O. With the exception of rear I/O, which isn't typically gold plated anyway, none of these see any amount of wear that needs more than the thinest coating of gold. When is the last time you saw ram sticks with corroded pins? I've got some in a 386 that still look brand new.
I love this channel for how honest and also sarcastic Jay is. The content is super relevant and lacks any double standards This is the video that earns this channel one more subscriber (me)
Hey Jay! Loving the video but I would like to throw in my own two cents about gaming mice, I used to buy the cheapest mice I could get when I was younger and as I got more proficient and faster in playing games I found that the sensor became too slow to keep up. So while 150ips is kind of rediculous, there is value in the ips of premium mice.
Don't mind RGB, but I hate when the RGB defaults to on unless you install their software to turn it off... G.Skill, I'm looking at you...
@Liam O'Brien pretty much every corsair device you can default to off if you overwrite the default profile to a dark profile to the onboard memory.
When is start my pc my leds are green by default I need to open mystic light and corsair software to get my settings back lol.
Ah my mouse does that too^^
I just got my new pc (ordered from a place that builds it with the main components you select)- I ordered a closed case-NO fucking windows (besides the OS..)...the cpu fan has some rgb...the motherboard has some useless lights...all inside a completely closed case....

Thanks for the heads up! I've totally managed to overclock my cheep non-RGB Walmart plastic chair and it's now kicking 8-hour sittings instead of 6!! Thanks Buddy! :P
Love that you called out that bs with gaming chairs. I won one from one of my gaming competitions and I cbf about it. I used it sure but only cause it free. I would take a proper office chair any day.
Thanks for the heads up on the chair! Makes sense.
Bravo for your description of "gaming" chairs. I have been telling friends to go for good ergonomic chairs forever. I can point friends to this explanation by an actual 'expert'. Thats what I will call you when I tell them.😁
Why did you put 'expert' in quotes?
Gimmick glass PC cases with poor cooling/ temperature profiles; alternatively gimmick cases with 'a thousand fans' that sounds like a jet plane and still with a poor cooling/ temperature profile.
Depends which country you are staying, like I stay in India and during summer it's 42°C so I would need liquid cooler, few extra fans for sure, people staying in Canada will never need to put a liquid cooler or so many fans inside, all depends on your geographical location.
@@chikon1000 It's a matter of how many fans you need in your case, and which type of cooling suits your needs.
@@chikon1000 More advanced cooling like water can be warranted for overclocking too not just high temp environments dead of winter -20f there's chip's that just wont stay cool enough on air..stock the first that comes to mind is the fx9590 when you jump into ocing it can really be any chip depending on how far you are pushing and what sort of life expectancy you want out of it..cooler tend's to last longer to a point and require less voltage for the higher clock..My goal post is to never let a chip get over 60c which can easily push you into a water cooling setup or an insanely large 20lb aircooler
@Warm Soft Kitty YOU only need 2 fans in your case. Many people have different hardware than you and different use cases that may warrant more fans for cooler temperatures. Just because no problems have arose doesn't mean that cooler temperatures couldn't make the components last longer, overclock higher, etc...
@Warm Soft Kitty It really depends on the hardware that you're using
Thank you for bringing to light so much great info. Plus saving me from buying a racing gaming chair. Thank you!
My daughter has a gaming chair and it’s probably one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in, and I’m getting the same kind for myself soon
Really liked this video. Informative on all aspects including mouse/mice and chairs. Excellent
Gimmick: Built-in speakers in gaming monitors.
My 27" acer predator has speakers that sound worse than a Nokia phone phone from 2005
One could argue that they may come in handy if you need to [watch a video, play games etc] with multiple people, but if you have a high refresh rate / high resolution display, you'll be using displayport which doesn't support audio anyway....
So yeah, it's stupid
@@morphball emmm... dp does support audio, my 1440p 165 hz and its crappy speakers sound bad.. but sound using dp
@@morphball If you are with multiple people, just use decend speakers... Those are a real feature
@@morphball Displayport supports audio. I too have a 27" Acer Predator connected via displayport and the monitor shows up in the list of available audio devices in Windows.
Can confirm the speakers do sound like cap.
I OC'd my CZcams, now all it recommends me are JayzTwoCents videos.
looks pretty broken to me.
Did you do it with Chrome Afterburner?
@Galaxy TS2 now it's 169. 69 with one to watch
I built my system a few months ago and this topic is the first thing that stood out to me as a new buyer. Many tech companies take advantage of ignorance and could overcharge for some unnecessary gimmick, all while making one think it is indispensable.
i was laughing so hard when he moved the mouse talking about "inch per Sec" then moving the mouse at every angle of the table.
Watching this while my corsair keyboard is running on the "Rainbow Puke" setting. Thank you Jay, for saving me from myself.

If it fits, IT SITS!
I used to be anti-rgb then I got a pc with one and now it's "Oooh, pretty colors!"
I am indifferent to RGB with the exception of keyboards. I need my keyboard to either have a plain white backlight or an RGB backlight.
Brilliant video. Subbed instantly! Great work man.
spot on about the gaming chairs. i sat in one and didnt understand why anyone would ever want one. i've always just had regular business chairs from staples and they do the job brilliantly. now that i'm older with more money, i bought myself a fancy leather boss office chair lol. its so pillowy and comfortable and just all around enjoyable to use for gaming or just general computer use.
If you have the money, get one of those executive chairs instead. Like a boss they said.
Good video but I would have liked it to be longer and go over more topics.
I just like it how informative you are with these products.
I've been arming myself with knowledge in preparation for my first build, and have to say thanks for all the helpful information this channel has provided. Now if we could only get our hands on a RTX 3080...
I don't mind RGB as long it's functional.
Also, if you walk into a store without doing any prior research your asking to have your money taken. If your going into a physical store to get anything you should know ahead of time exactly what your going to get. "But I don't know anything about PC hardware" you say.. hence you need to do research.. you wouldn't buy anything else at that price point without doing research, right? Hopefully..
this applies to every thing. like cars. pets etc
i see ppl buying cheap cars because they think they got a good deal but in the end they have to sink tons of money just to fix it on a car mechanic.
or gets a dog but knows nothing about training them or how to take care of them, then the dog ends up in the shelter and no one wants to adopt them since dog is too old, sick or behaves bad and pain to train and they end up getting put down.
always do a research before hand so you know what you are getting or getting into.
i have seen it happen way too many times.
also on RGB. i hate the marketing and the rainbow BS they show but i like the option to match colours with your build. and on my keyboard and mice i have set the default to match my build and different colours for different profiles to indicate what profile i have on that moment when playing games
Just did this while looking for a new monitor, after my last one from 2014 croaked, by researching the available options online both off the shelf and by post. Finally decided on a Samsung VA panel based monitor from a local store, specifically the Samsung C24F39, instead of another IPS one like I had before.
Part of the reason was when I plugged in my VA panel based Samsung TV from 2012 to act as a temporary monitor, the colour and contrast was just so much better. Also, it has the right size, look, and general feature set I'm looking for, such as backwards compatibility with old retro builds with a VGA analogue input to go with the HDMI input, while also coming with newer features, such as flicker free technology and a curved display, at a really good price.
EDIT: Just before pulling the trigger on the Samsung, I just found another replacement monitor that I really like the look of, specifically the BENQ GW2470HL, that's currently available from online retailers. However, it does has two HDMI ports to go with the required VGA port instead of just one HDMI port, positive reviews on Amazon UK, and looks to be a generally higher quality monitor than the low cost Samsung, while still being available at around the same price.
True, it doesn't have a curved display, or AMD FreeSync. However, the lack of FreeSync doesn't bother me as I'm an nVidia graphics card user, while the curved display is just an optional extra for me that I can easily do without.
I cant live without monitor support on my GPU. That really rustles my jimmies to find out that I cant hook a monitor up to my computer.
I have an Aeron chair at home and I can tell you it is amazingly comfortable even with all day use.
Be warned, it will ruin you for other chairs.
It's also the first non-leather office chair I bought and I don't think I would ever go back to leather (too hot and sticky in the summer)
The best buyers' advice ever... Actually I'll start looking at everything through the same Gimmick-Feature magnifying glass. Thanks!
Thanks for the comparison of different items, really like the style of the video!!
Totally feel you about those chairs, people don't think much how important proper posture is while sitting
Yea had no idea that there a "hour rating" for higher end chairs either. Something I better keep in mind when ever I ever be able to be made of money.
My router's box had a Windows Compatible badge on it...
Where they lying though? Some people literally have no clue what they are looking at when buying a router... Seeing that it's compatible with Windows instills confidence in the buyer. Good marketing imo.
i work in an electronics store and i get the "is this windows compatible?" question on everything from routers to monitors to keyboards and printers. Never underestimate the ignorance of the masses.
oh and yes I've used the badges on the boxes to easily show them that yes, yes it is....
I've seen "Windows-compatible" pop up on USB extension cables
How about when pendrives where new and you had to check if they where plug and play or if you had to install drivers??? Had one with the Windows logo on the box...
"...compared to the Founder's 1080ti, which doesn't say gaming anywhere on it."
8:42 1080ti Box: "Hello Gamers!"
didn't the founders edition say "gamers" right on the front?
GPUs and CPUs are probably the only thing that having "gaming" written on them actually makes sense.
Thanks JZ I am older computer geek built an upgrade and the Crap of "Gimmick is as you stated.Office user Now DAW music need quiet air & SSD for plug ins. the M.2 had me but I grew up and learned from your insight. Thanks you I am the SONE monster Killer. LMAO on hooking a AC up to chill your system...... Always a FAN now. Appreciate your time & humor.
Tax return time is why so much hardware is purchased around this time.
Lmao true
Right image if tax returns were at the same time as black Friday/cyber Monday. If only.
Imagine if people could save money
HAHAHA Tax return...I remember when I used to actually get something back. Tax time for me means a giant bill.
I love it when I see monitors at the store with "Windows 10 compatible" stickers on them 😂
Another great video with lots of good info. Thanks Jay. 👍
"It's your butt, you put it wherever you want" - Jay
The biggest gimmick i've seen is USB, what you really need are serial ports both 9 and 25 pin, parallel, ps/2, and firewire, floppy is also nice but most modern motherboards don't have that so get a usb floppy drive.
Gaming RGB chair and RGB Gaming Mouse but has a core 2 duo + gt 610.
Peripherals = 400$
Pc = 80$
610? sitting on gold , buddy
12 button mmo mice are actually really great for photoshop. With the kind of artwork I do, being able to switch the opacity by just clicking 1,2,3,etc saves a lot of time compared to manually adjusting it on a slider.
I will also note that the motherboards I/O can determine VR readiness now that the Oculous Rift S only supports Display port (making many VR ready laptops not in fact VR ready).
Excellent topics! Very well done and you are CORRECT!!! Good
Help in sifting through the bullshit for especially beginners and buyer that has been out of the scene for a while.
Thanks Jay and frankly I've not seen anyone cover those IMPORTANT FACTS that you just did!- GLAD I'm subscribed.
