Push-ups are one of the BEST exercises you can do. They work your chest, shoulders, arms, and core. One of the biggest advantages of doing push-ups is that they don't require any equipment and you can do them anywhere.
If you haven't worked out in a while, it's possible that you can't do a full push-up right now. The good news is that today's video will show you how to do a push-up if you are fat or too out of shape. If you can already do one, we will also show you some more advanced push-ups that you can do as you get stronger.
When practicing push-ups for beginners, it is important to stay consistent and do 5 minutes of practice every day with rest in between sets. This is the key to learning how to increase push-ups from zero to whatever your goal is.
Push-up Progression Plan
1:57 Bench Push-Ups
4:05 Knee Push-Ups
5:30 Toe Push-Ups
6:23 Tempo Push-Ups
Some more advanced push-up variations include: weighted push-ups, incline push-ups, deficit push-ups.

it’s not impossible if it’s possible👹
I am an 85 year old male, ex Marine and retired USAF F4 and F111 pilot. I was always active but in recent years stopped doing pushups, though I did ride my exercise bike. Do a lot of hiking and walking. Following your plan, in 8 days I went from doing 0 pushups to 5. I stopped short of failure. Am sure I will do 10 in a few more sessions.
Damn you sir are a total badass thanks for your service, push forward soldier 🫡
Yes thank you for your service @stevemarenka8915 you’re a badass
That line when you said it’s no shame being a beginner, me being 21 years old watching other people do superman push-ups, I was really embarrassed but this video taught an important lesson. Thanks for that😊🙏😀 One day I am going to be very good in push-ups
Awesome my friend! You're very welcome 💪

I've been doing push-ups regularly for a while but had no idea about some of the advanced techniques you talked about. I tried some tempo, incline and deficit push-ups and wow they're tough. I could feel it more then some of the weighted exercises I do. Thanks for the great tips Dr. A, I always learn something new from your videos.

Dude this is amazing. I did HIIT training for the first time today and a large part of it was pushups which I've never been able to do. This way of working will be great for helping me build strength properly! Thanks!!
Excellent Theodore! You're very welcome Brother 🙌
In athletics 8th grade they literally trained us to be able to do a push up for like 4 months and I still haven't done a push up ever. It was awesome watching all these girls succeed tho.
Thank you Sir ❤

Thanks for the vid and advice Doc. I find push ups hard, I always have, but and after a brain injury(encephalitis), where I lost 65lbs of muscle in a coma and also aquired neurological issues, your vids are inspirational and educational. Thanks man.

Push ups do take a while to work up to and wish I'd taken advantage of a video like this. Really liked your demonstrations of variants of the exercise to try and it's not something i'd ever thought to do. Have already tried the tempo push up and there's definitely a completely different feel to the exercise especially in the arms. Great instructional video.
Thank you Brother 👍
A helpful explanation and guide to completing push-ups for those who struggle or feel that they cannot do them. This will prove to be a useful video, I am sure.

absolutely mind-blown by the variation where you re still doing knee-push ups, except that one leg is already extended.

I’m a Army Veteran but I have been out since the war in 1990. I have had 3 children and gained lots of weight. Suffered a stroke in 2018. Working to get back to my military fitness body. Thank you so much for sharing this information.
Before watching your video I didn't realize there was a step between knees on the ground and straight legs. It seems really simple but having the one leg bent and the other straight makes a really big difference when you are teaching kids how to do push ups too.
That transition is super helpful. :)
You're very welcome 🙏
This is a great video for beginners. I just started taking my health seriously with IF and cardio and now it's time to build strength. I've lost 10 lbs already and I have 40 more to go until I'm normal weight. Thanks for the video!
That's amazing news! Keep up the great work! 👊

This video helps me to stay motivated because I am able to do push up at home. Exercise is important and is the way to stay healthy. Thanks for sharing this video. I will be keeping track and plan to do push up from now on.
Excellent Katie 👍
I'm 46 years old. 6 years ago I went from a 6'3 185 pound drug addict on my way to rehab to a 300 pound sober fat guy. I know I need to loose weight and get in better shape. Today I watched your video and decided to start with pushups using the counter to start with. After 5 sets of 10, I can really feel the burn and I plan on continuing. My biggest problem is snacking after dinner and I feel like I won't want to ruin my progress if I start working out after dinner. I quit smoking, drinking and drugs so after all that, it's time to "start" some new healthy habits.
U got this bro u believe in u 🫵💪😁
Thank you very much 🙏

Thank you sir for your time and help
You are welcome! Keep up your focus and effort. You can do this!
You're very welcome 🙏
Thanks for the motivation! Last month I watched this and I can't even do 2 reps and my form is sloppy. I wanted to build strength even though I'm just a teenager. I realized that you shouldn't just rely on your arms just lile you said but your whole body should be involved!
Now i can do 10 reps and 4 sets. Im planning to do 100 pushups someday!
Thank you for motivating me to get in shape again!
Update: i lost about 12 kg of weight
Wth and my muscle mass kinda decreased along with my body fat
Awesome my friend! That makes me really happy to hear. You're very welcome 🙏
Little update here! I can now do 45 push-ups with 30 sit-ups and 15 squats!
I lost some weight lol
Wow! Keep it up 💪

I did a push up 😁😁😁 I've not exercised since.... well ever. Following this after two weeks my arms were finally in a place where I can push my own bodyweight back up. Only a half push up at the moment, but it's still better than the nothing I was able to do before! Thanks FFP! 😁

This looks extremly realistic. I need to be able to complete 12 pushups by December (3 months) and right now I can't do one. Im taking this video very seriously... THANK YOU for the content! #BeBlessed

can you do push-ups now , do the video help?
Has it helped?

This video is great!
Thank you very much 👍🏼
This video is amazing, I'm glad I stumbled on it, I would definitely try it out, I've always wanted to do a push up but have poor upper body strength, and I'm working towards improving that, this would help. I would do it and hopefully remember to come back and drop another comment in a month or so
Awesome! Keep us updated with your progress 👍
A week ago I was disappointed to find I couldn't do one push up I started the knee push ups, could do 5. Now doing 9 daily. My aim is to be able to do 10 full push ups daily. I'm sixty.
Awesome my friend 💪
Very good information. i appreciate it. I learned a lot. Thanks.
You're very welcome my friend! I’m very glad this was helpful for you 🙏🏼
thank you so much sharing video very helpful
You're very welcome Bhavna 👍
if we are starting with baby steps like 3:13 then how many repetitions and sets should we target on daily basis and how should the pushups & sets needs to be increased.
you mentioned 5 minutes , but one person might do 1 pushup in 5 mins while another might be able to do 5. so if I am able to do 3 sets of 5 pushups each would that be a good start ?
Hi Vinod, as many as you can, as you get stronger increase your reps 👍
@@Fitfatherproject thanks
You're very welcome 🙏
Hello, so I’m currently 14 y/o and I’m doing around 100 knee push-ups, I struggle at the end a lot, i do this each day in around 10 minutes. How quick do you think I will build up strength, and what can I do to even better it?
Keep practising, and start with at least a couple on your toes and before you know you will start getting stronger and increasing your reps.
Ye I’m 13 and starting do to do knee pushups daily do you do 2 reps of 50 rest between or just straight 100?
Great advice
🙌
Great video. This answered a lot of questions I had and inspires me to start!
Thank you my friend! I’m very glad this was helpful for you 🙏🏼
How many push-ups are there in a “set”?
As many as you can do Brother 👍
The girly style pushups (as Bill & Ted call them) are actually amazing for warming up too, especially when your shoulders are not in the best condition and they need to be eased into a more intense pushup routine.
👍
Thank u sir.
