Are you using a Athlon Optics scope yet? After years of folks speaking very highly of them, we asked and received one for the new Franklin F17-L .17WSM rifle. Prairie Dogs, here we come!!
Superb rig. Looks very nice. Athlon scopes are high quality. Can’t go wrong with them.
Thanks Toby!
Thanks for the info. Very nice.
Thanks buddy!
Very nice set-up Eric 🦃🤙🤙
Thanks buddy!
Nice spot, nice gun, and nice video!
Thanks buddy!
I have the same scope with the BDC reticule on my 223 coyote rifle and I really like it. Been using it for a couple of years now and call coyotes in from 30 yards to 300 yards. The 2.5 is really great when the coyotes are up close. The glass is very good, clear and bright. The BDC reticle has work very well, when the coyotes are 150 yards or more I turn up the magnification and the 200 and 300 yard reticle has been correct for me. I haven’t had the opportunity to go out further then that so I don’t know if the 400, 500 and 600 marks work well. I am going to switch out the scope on my other 2 coyote rifles with this same scope.
Nice! Great to know. I was smacking ground squirrels with it a few months ago and took it out to 300 yards. I experienced the same results. I can't wait for prairie dogs next!
I too have this BDC scope on my 223 coyote rifle, and love it. The 200, 300, and 400 yard stadia lines are dead on for the 69 grain SMKs that I use. Beyond that, I dial. Good glass for the money, and it seems the price of these scopes has dropped some over the last year or so.
I personally like my $400 athlon better than my $800 vortex. I liked it so much that I bought another one. That $400-$600 optics market is full of very high value scopes these days.
That's for sure! I was very impressed by the low-light capabilities and the clarity during the middle of the day in bright sun. Both sides of the spectrum were handled nicely. But, more to come on that ;-)
Don't like second focal plane scopes. Because you have to have the right reticle. dialing can be an issue. The magnification is set to only one spot. So you kinda have to choose which way you're going to shoot. Either by fix magnification, For using the reticle. I like the ability to do both.
I'm definitely a SFP hunter. When I have to shoot a very small critter at longer distances and bump the power up, I lose the animal in the crosshairs. My eyes are also bad! 😂
When are you going to do a review on that rifle?
Soon!
I'm thinking of picking one up today. Is it worth $1700?

Perfect. Now switch it up to a 5.7x28 on a AR platform.
.17 Velocitor first! (5.7 necked down)
4.6x30 already exists, just more expensive than the 5.7x28.
@mattstrohmeyer5839 - I use the 17JAV (John Anderson Varminter) which is a necked down 4.6x30mm. The Velociraptor is a necked down 5.7x28 to .172". That's on my short list.
It's a pitty winchester make a rifle and ammunition. But us who own .17wsm rifles in the uk have no ammunition. Winchester not interested in sending to uk
Live head shots…
I keep the skulls now, so I've been avoiding the head shots! 🤯
Bu dürbün nasıl güzel mi kaliteli mi
I like this optic a lot.
