I bought both the Garmin and new LX and have 1 range session along side the Magnetospeed. I love my Magnetospeed, but such a hassle especially if changing firearms. Thus why I took the plunge. I figured one would stand out and I could sell or gift the other. I was wrong thinking one would stand out. They both have their pluses and are great units. I like the compactness and ease of use with the Garmin, but like the screen, aluminum body and app of the Labradar. The garmin app looks nice but syncing is best done after your shooting session, as it requires you to disconnect and reconnect to display data. The labradar app stays connected and shows your shots in real time and allows you to change settings, arm and dis arm etc from your phone, which I like. The garmin is a tad easier to navigate on the unit itself so if you don't care about app functions that is probably the winner. I love that both units have internal rechargeable LI po batteries no more carrying CR 123 or 9 volts. The data: Labradar seems to be showing about 10-15 fps slower than the Garmin and Magnetospeed. Now that really is not much and less than .1%. The SD and ES were pretty much right on with all units and to me, that is the most important. overall I believe both units are winners over the old big, bulky original Labradar as both units fit in a small camera case or even a cut out in your rifle case.

When closing the bolt is it supposed to be stiff or smooth

FWIW to viewers, it appears that one year after this video, Hornady does make a 75 grain VMAX. They now offer 6mm (.243) VMAX in 58gr, 65gr, 75gr, and 87gr.

Have had a .17WSM B-Mag for 5 yrs now. Shameful how much ammo sells for at times (when it comes up). Been lucky a few times in the past and got it for just under $25/box. Recent search (early Aug '24) and they're wanting close to $70+/box. The hardest loading to find is the 25 grainers. 20 grainers most popular available then the 15.5 grainers (which through my bang stick shoot really well... rough on pigeons though). The 17 WSM & 17 HH (Hornady Hornet) ammo availability need to improve. I've bought dies for reloading 17HH fired brass brass and keep an eye out for any new developed load data.

Starline has plenty of brass.

I have one. It shoots like an air rifle with crazy speed and energy. Groupings at .5 or less moa too.

9 years later....Savage has made a lot of improvements to their Bmags Unfortunately it was also Savage, in my opinion, that hurt the 17wsm by releasing the Bmag with horrible foundation ie very flexible plastic stock. People who bought these rifles spread the word very quickly and gave the 17wsm a bad reputation and now it's hard to find the ammunition. Savage now offers better stocks so accuracy has improved dramatically. I just bought a savage Bmag target heavy barrel with thumb hole stock and I paid about half of the price of the ruger 77 17. In hindsight I guess it would have been better if ruger developed the first rifles? but maybe ruger took notes front savage's screw ups, like they've done with virtually every gun they make. Thank goodness for ruger taking good idea and making them better!

What kind of accuracy did you get with the 15.5 gr at 100 yards?

Just bought a savage Bmag target heavy barrel with thumb hole stock. I can't judge it for its accuracy yet but I have to admit that closing the bolt is not ideal, for follow up shots. So far however I am happy that the savage is about 1/2 the price of the ruger 77/17 and JMO better looking and love the cheek rest height and thumb hole stock. Acutrigger is decent enough that it's not going to be changed also.

About the p- dogs eating the other prairie dog I was told the reason why they’re doing that is because they don’t want blood around their den because it attracts predators whether that’s true or not. I’m not sure. I believe that was a documentary about p dogs.

To keep from producing case head separation is you want the bolt to close with force, this makes it only the shoulder expands... not down near the head.

I never had a Bmag so I can't speak for it at all but I can attest to savage's customer support. Outstanding!! The only "complaint " is that it'll probably take about 3 months to get your firearm back so don't buy a new rifle that you'll be taking on a safari hunt 3 weeks before the trip. That said, when I called savage to explain the problem I had with my A17, right away they took my email address, phone number and sent me a copy of the issues I told them and shipping information. Just shy of 3 months later I got my rifle back with all the issues resolved and the "bill " was $0 for both shipping and repairs. I kind of wish they had told me what they did/replaced but all the sheet said was polished chamber, check head space and replaced small parts.

I do have a 17 cal lilja blank, though, that will soon be a 17 fireball soon. i can't wait. you're in southern idaho, huh? I lived in mountain home about 10 years ago. I use to go ground squirrel shooting all the time. we called them whistle pigs, though. I assume its the same thing you're shooting. thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
