The scope also has a zero set and mine has an illuminated reticle. Thanks for a solid review.

If you want to be fair with your comparison you should compare a premium scope with a featured scope of similar power and options. You can't handycap a scope for not being equal where it isn't trying to be. Dollars, power and features must be apples to apples and compare the quality of each to be fair to either.

Id much rather have a second focal plane scope for hunting. If you're turning down your magnification you're aiming with your zero anyway and your reticle will be much easier to see. Second focal plane shouldn't be a deduction, its just different.

2021: i bought one of these and then very soon another. very nice glass at the price point and the moa reticle is thin enough to target shoot but large enough to not get lost.

Good review. I think you should consider a different approach to scoring regarding magnification, since this scope is attractive to me *because* it goes so wide on the low end (some varmints can be very close in)...and the upper end is plenty for my needs. Perhaps a standard where the eye chart moves? test all scopes 2x at 25 yards, 3x at X yards, 4x at Y yards...etc...24x at 1,000 yards, and each scope only gets scored for wide, middle, low for its focal range? just at thought.

How is the eye box on max magnification? Is it loose or tight?

Kind of necropost I guess, but it does have illumination, and a really nice one as well. I've had my scope for three years now, and it works flawless. Only downside is a slightly narrow field of view on 2.5 which can be less desirable during quick shots in close range for example running hogs or deers. Other than that, Top tier for the money spent

What ring height and base height setup are you running here?

Flawed criteria on the scoring system. Comparing 2 scopes meant for very different purposes.

For optics all you have to do is compare the scopes at the same power. 5x, 10x 15x. Power in itself should not be a factor. You can make a 500x scope why should that rate higher when it would be useless at that power.

Would you recommend it for 500-600 yard shots?
