- The Witcher is returning to our screens on 17th December (finally!), so we caught up with some of the cast and crew to give us some juicy filming secrets from season 2.
From major injuries to making each other laugh on set, Freya Allan (Ciri), Kim Bodnia (Vesemir), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Joey Batey (Dandelion) and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (The Witcher creator) reveal 10 things you didn’t know about the show... with some teaser info about S3!

Nope, you ain’t seeing things. In the books and the games Ciri considers Vesemir as a Grandfather. And their bond is really very strong, especially in the third game.

I very much enjoy watching interviews with Anja Chalotra. She comes across as very humble, and seems willing to give other people credit for good things. This is a rare capacity, I think, among human beings: an accomplished person who seems happy when others do well and get the attention.
Agreed. There's this certain aura about her that makes me instantly respect her. I get the gut feeling that she seems to have a more introverted personality, which makes her more relatable for me.
When she and Joey are together, they do the best interviews!
Actors always bow to the star actor aka Henry Cavil
Anja is a little cutie, and comes across as the total opposite if yennefer.
They talk so much and excitedly about the hair, makeup, costume and stunt people. It’s really awesome to see these actors not only give credit to, but be so thrilled about the folks behind the scenes.

I see Freya wearing a fleece coat in The Witcher, and all I can picture is the poor sheep shivering, tryna hold its insides in meanwhile grazing furiously to regain some vitality and grow the wool back real qwik.

The books are the books. The show is the show. The games are the games.
Each at its own level. Juz enjoy them separately.

They are the 3 different things. The books are the origin of the story, games and the show are based on + something added from screenwriter to director or anybody who works on the project.

The casting in this series is exceptional. It is very rare that every single character is spot on with the actor portraying them, and very handsome talented people. Great job!

Filming secrets: People like to have fun and the monsters weren't real
Many people die...It was about time actually...First season I loved the character of Calanthe and the actress was astonishing.But the fact she died makes the plot intriguing, she was confident, a character with gravity and strength, she had to die for the plot to start taking interest.The series are fantastic, I wish there were 2 or 3 more episodes, one digit in episodes is painful to see.

I am a PC fan and now I hope it can go for 10 to 20 more episodes but the way the story telling is going I will still love every single episode till then.
it's a pleasant surprise to hear Lauren openly admit to engaging with and reading fan theories but I also worry for her. Sadly lawsuits happen. from fans accusing writers of stealing their work or otherwise, to the point of it being explicitly demanded in their contracts that they avoid engaging with any written material about their show. Witcher fans are amazing, though, and I hope none of them stoop to that level. And I'm happy with whatever Lauren made into her own story and that she gets to engage with fans about any of it.
I think that wouldn't apply as much here because there's a whole series of books, right? Idk though

i heard that there were some problems with the actor, but recasting wasn't possible anymore, so they just did him dirty.

It really felt like that season 2 was a trailer for next season. After the first banger of an episode it was slow with a okayish finale.

@@evgenkhersonets880 it's not the same. They didn't put "2 books" in one season (first) - in fact, they hardly even adapted the majority of the stories from them...
@@evgenkhersonets880 They would have to rush through BoE which would hurt the series in the long run. Thanned has to be properly set up, which season 1 didn't do at all. Doing Thanned in season 2 would've been disastrous, especially just to get a big reaction on the finale of the season. Not to mention they rushed through 2 books OF SHORT STORIES that were setting up the characters and the premise of the actual plot, the story really starts with BoE so it makes sense to start taking it slow now.

This needs to be said loud and clear: the series is not an adaptation of the books. It takes some facts from the book and creates its own story. Sometimes even completely contradictory to what is in the book. It is very, very pity, because it brings out a lot of stupidity.
Yes it is, it's being repeated by the production team & the actors again and again during interviews.
i saw a bunch of interviews and never did they say "its not an adaptation". in this interview even the producer said that season 3 is based on a certain witcher book.
For someone who read the books and played computer games this show will be one big DISASTER.
These people should all quit, give the show a chance to stop being so bad.

Since you’re so smart you probably know how easy it is to cater to everyone when making an eight episode series. Especially when it comes to a full-fledged fantasy show. I love how people like you always think they are so smart when you have no idea how many people work on projects, how many ideas and how many aspects people need to think about when making a global show.
One thing that you actually need to know about the 2nd season... ist disappointing for ones that didn't read the books, cringe for those who played the games, and utter garbage who did read the books and play the games
Season 2 is a complete disgrace.... bad dialogue, tedious drawn out boring scenes....
BoE doesn’t have much action to begin with. The majority of it is setup and training. Let the adults enjoy their show
