Tranquility is spectacular! I would also include Desdemona in this comparison; such a wonderful citrusy scent! Also, I like the low petal count type of blooms 🤩

I'm so excited I just bought "Tranquility" today, it was an absolute surprise to see it in my local Grocery store garden center! I did a double take when I spotted the green DA pot from a distance. Can't wait to see this beautiful rose take off in my garden.

I can attest to Imogen’s tolerance for shade. She flowers generously for me on four hours sun a day tops. I’ve also found her to be quite healthy, resistant to black spot and even passed up by invading Japanese beetles. Her only downside is how fragile her blooms that seem to shatter with the slightest upset, but they fall prettily and are soon replaced with more.

I’m really glad that you enjoyed the media I produce. I filmed a personal review of all at an old hall. It’s available to watch here at any time. As for Desdemona. It has just left my collection and headed for the compost heap in the sky. There’s no doubting that the blooms it does produce are beautiful, but it’s week and doesn’t produce very many even with 3/ quarters of an acre. I’ve been did not worth growing and removed it.

If you’re looking to grow a white Austin, by far, the best in production, currently is Tranquility or Litchfield angel

@@the_gardenerben Well, did not see this & I bought Desdemona. I'm in hot sunny California. I have my eyes on Claire A & Litchfield A. Sort of heard Tranquility gets blackspot. I have some more shady spots that could use a rose so that's also a consideration. I hope Desdemona is happy next to Bolero. It's a small potted plant from DA in TX.

Would Litchfield Angel or Tranquility be ok in a large pot or trough? I’ve planted some Desdemonas in a trough and they’re doing really well and look stunning but fancied a different David Austin white in some troughs in another location. Already got the Claire Austins which are beauties and doing well up the wall. I have just gone for all white roses in my garden so was looking for another variety. I like to cut them too so the mix of different whites/creams in a vase is lovely.

Yes, as long as the containers were large enough, they would be just fine they will need to be at least 70 cm in diameter and at least 70 cm deep
If you’re ordering in the UK or Europe, please do follow the link. I will send you this will take you directly to the david Austin website customers using the link and entering code. BEN24 will get 15% off until the 13th of March.

    pink. Could someone name it?

I am going to get Tranquility and Claire Austin next year :) Could you give a top number review of the DA roses that can stand the long summer day sun? I happened to plant a Tess of D facing south this year, the flowers can last for days under the scorching afternoon sun, which made me very happy :)

My Lichfield angel doesn't have nearly the number of petals as yours. Is there something I can do to help with the number of petals? this is the third summer in the ground for it. The size sounds the same, but not the shape: maybe 25 petals per bloom. Can a genetic change have happened to it?

As you can see it’s clearly not- this is why my personal reviews were launched, no editing, no filtering no post production and no light enhancement. If you want to see the true colour of any of the roses, I have reviewed look no further.

@@the_gardenerben Sometimes the climate affects the color. Imogen may bloom whiter for you but more lemon for others. I've even heard Claire Austin to get a yellow tone when grown in very hot areas. English summers are not over 90 to 100F for the most part I don't think.
