I just love how he keeps referring to the fact he used to be a child, as if it was a career choice he made for several years.
"Is it going to be hard for marty to go in the past?"
"No, Super easy, barely an inconvenience"

That's Tumblr's slogan.
The original script for Back to the Future was even weirder. Iirc, Doc Brown's character was actually an alien and the time machine was made out of a fridge.
Hm. Sounds like Doctor Who.
Are you sure about the alien part? Because I've seen all kinds of documentaries about these movies and I don't remember ever hearing about that. The fridge part is true though.
Honestly that sounds really cool.
You forgot the best part. It was powered by coke-cola.
*Christopher Lloyd's character, "Doc Brown". ^_^
‘Coz you understand for years and years I was a child’ 😂😂😂 such an underrated joke
"Do you want to call it Back to the Past?"
"Nonono, Back to the Future."
"Right, but they go to the past."
"Yeah."
He goes to the past and wants to get back to the future. It's brilliant. Why is this hard to get?
@@TeaandFiona The whole movie is spent trying to figure out how he can get back to the future with no time machine.
but they go back to the future
I mean, it probably should be back to the present, depending on which philisophical model of time you're using.
@@jbkkkkk true, but that sounds even dumber somehow.
According to Ryan George, this is what inspired him to do pitch meetings so thank you John Mulaney for indirectly creating the best thing on the internet

I love that Ryan George was able to base 85% of his entire career on this one bit.
Was probably super easy, barely even an inconvenience.
Ryan George is a lot funnier than this guy. His pitch meeting about Back to the Future was everything that this comedy routine could have been, but wasn't.
"I hope you can read pink on purple" IM DEAD
Dead huh
Funny cos there's actually pink on purple text behind him.
We all owe Mr Mullaney for the creation of pitch meeting
I love how many tropes from Ryan George's pitch meetings can be seen here, like the use of "You know", "Okay, okay, " and "Yeah" in a very similar mood to George's "Yeah yeah yeah"
“Marty’s mom is _tight!”_
@@DissociatedWomenIncorporated And Screenwriter Guy immediately responds with "Oh my God!"
6:24 "So how do you wanna call it? Back to the past?"
"Back to the future"
"Right but they go to the past"
Me: *but they're going back to the future*
Technically they’re going back to the present but it works well enough as a title and sounds way better than back to the past
Plus, it wouldn't be "Back to the Past" as that would be saying that they have gone to the past before.
It is stated more than once throughout the series that a character needs to get back. Back where? BACK TO THE FUTURE!
But seeing as BttF takes place in what is the past to our present either way... they're going Back to the Future-Past
As Marty returned a few minutes before he left, you can even call it FuturesPast-NowPast. Or call the movie "Not Completely Back To The Future" - that title would fix all the problems.
I feel like this is a drew gooden video but like live right?

Welcome to earth 1932 where Barry Allen has and incredible sense of humor instead of super speed
LOL 😂🤣
I always thought that the reason Doc and Marty were friends was that Marty met Doc in the past before they knew each other, and then Doc intentionally sought him out, like a paradox
Doc IS Marty, from the past. Or the future, whatever.
Doc has the best amplifier speaker thing and Marty plays guitar.
Maybe Doc put an ad in the paper for an assistant and Marty needed a job?
According to the rules of time travel in Back to the Future a new reality is created when someone changed something in the past by time traveling.
I always just assumed Doc knew Marty’s parents, like he was a family friend or something
Making an imaginary pitch meeting for the film Back To The Future was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
“For years and years I was a child.” Slayed
For those of you who are wondering, the co creator of the movie said that apparently they met when Marty snuck into his lab after getting curious as if to what was inside, since he had always been told that Doc brown was a crackpot and crazy and he wanted to see what was going on for himself. Doc found him and they became friends.
There is a graphic novel by Bob Gale that explains Doc hired Marty as an assistant/errand runner.
When you say Doc found him, it sounds like Marty's a lost puppy, lol.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve always been slightly bothered by their unexplained friendship.
@@Harmthuriabasically 😂
@@kait.5437That's basically the plot of the Sandlot too once they find Darth Vader lol
“For years and years I was a child”
This is it. This is the bit that inspired Ryan George's Pitch Meetings. How wonderful.
"I hope you can read pink on purple"
Such a small detail but soo funny
"So, you have a time travel movie for me?"

Wow the inception of Pitch Meeting. History!

"We thought it would be fun for people if..." kills me every time
"It had dollar signs and swastikas in it"

The Johnny B. Goode is one of the actual time paradoxes in the movie. It is not clear who wrote the song. I would say It is still Chuck Barry though, because he hears parts of the song over a telephone hung up from far away, but manages to still write the entire song as is. Marty knows the song because Chuck Barry wrote it.
Although Chuck Berry recorded and released the song in 1958, it is said that he wrote it in 1955, which is a little creepy. Perhaps he did get the idea from Marty McFly.
4:46 "This other guy's like 40 or 80." THE ACURACY-

Ahhhh so it's here where all started!
Wow wow wow.... Wow
Let's get one thing straight here, Mr. Mulaney: Marty McFly IS supposed to be cool. He plays guitar, he's an expert skateboarder, and he's got a hot girlfriend who digs him.
And a truck, don’t forget the truck
And his best friend is a disgraced nuclear physicist.
@@marabrunner8187 Like all cool guys
And his name is literally Fly, which was old slang for cool at the time.. That is like naming somebody Cooly McCool, and claim he is not supposed to be cool.
He's both cool and not cool. Like he's in a band, has a smoking hot girlfriend, he skateboards and he looks great, but he has like two whole friends and constantly walks into traffic
why does "I shit you not." so funny for me. I'm crying laughing 😂
John mulany: *makes joke about how he would be a side character using the context of spider man*
Also john mulany: *PLAYS ONE OF THE SPIDER PEOPLE*
Doc had a sweet stereo system that Marty practiced his guitar on everyday before school. That's really all the explanation I ever needed...
As a side, one could make the argument that the entire movie was explaining how they met in the past sending Marty Back to the Future...
4:16 what a cool idea, making fun of a movie by pretending to be in a pitch meeting.
That idea seems tight.
Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
This inspired Pitch Meeting!
It's called Back to the Future because that's where Marty wants to go, back to the future. 1985, which is the future of 1955.
Because he's stuck in the past, and wants to go back to the future.
Agreed. Not saying this guy isn't funny. But when he talks about the movie it makes me wonder if he actually saw the movie.
Then shouldn't the second part be called Back to the past?
@@aditisk99 no bc doc needs to go back to the future (2015)
I'm one of the dorky people that read the Back to the Future part 2 book, (yes there was a book) and Marty got to know Doc as an employee. He was hired by Doc to work at the garage lab.
This is what inspired pitch meeting wow wow wow.
This bit inspired the Pitch Meetings, which are hilarious
Marty is also on a first-name basis with the homeless drunk that sleeps on benches, Red. Marty is a friendly guy.
Hell everyone knows red
After all, he used to be the mayor
Sure he's got the events of the film mixed up, but his take on what the pitch must've been like is actually pretty close. Gale and Zemeckis at one point took the script to Disney and pitched it to them as a family film. Disney's reaction was something like, "Are you kidding? You've written a film about incest!"
"That's how I'd feel if I heard about Spider-man" Poceeds to voice- act Spider-Ham
Anyone else, hoping for a John Mulaney, Ryan George "Pitch Meeting" collab after watching this?!?! Collabs between two funny people are restricting! I'm sure convincing Mulaney to do it would be incredibly simple, hardly a hindrance at all.
Is that so?
This is fantastic even if it's just for the fact that this inspired "Pitch Meetings" by Ryan George
