PlayStation has reversed course on the Helldivers 2 PSN account requirement, walking back the unpopular policy after a weekend long backlash that included tens of thousands of negative reviews, some of which spread to Sony's other Steam games. "Helldivers fans - we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward," PlayStation wrote on its official account.
"We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans." - Hry

@@eppy5630it’s mainly false advertisement cuz Sony said all of the stuff that people saw would be the final product at launch but in the day 1 patch they censored outfits and turned down the gore in an M Rated game even though they have games like Bloodborne where characters are drenched in blood.

I never said “no more SONY PC”. The facts are that the current plan is an aggressive push to PC, this stupid decision was part of this aggressive push. And while obviously any company would like to sell their games everywhere… that takes work. And TLOU part 1 on PC was a clear as day example that Sony doesn’t have the logistics (aka people skilled enough) to be doing port of all their old library, let alone the next singleplayer releases.
So in short, they need to slap themselves and stop the “aggressive” part of the push to PC.

They only did this because it was illegal. They sold a game worldwide, than changes policies that would retroactively render the game they sold you unusable in 177 countries. Once steam started refunding the game even in psn available area to avoid liability, sony got hit hard.

That's the problem with the gaming community at large since the horse armor incident. Game companies think we are sheep because we act like sheep, we bleat and complain then purchase all their predatory microtransactions, loot boxes and half broken games. They aren't a necessity like a utility is, we have the option to completely opt out with an absolute ocean of options and alternatives. If gamers as a collective grew a pair when all this started the industry wouldn't be in the sad state it is today.
An important takeaway is this: a business will try to extract every last penny they can out of you, in turn you should extract every last bit of value you can for every cent you give them. It's that simple.

I don't support required PSN linking on PC. The biggest problem here is that the developer knew before launch that a PSN account would eventually be required. With that knowledge this game should have never been sold in countries that don't have access to a free PSN account!
I don't support linking it, period, without a damn good reason. I agree that selling it in regions where people can't even make a PSN account was the biggest issue though, I don't know how you even go about fucking that one up, especially considering Sony isn't new to worldwide sales of products which makes it a much larger fuck up in retrospect.

I wish Capcom would get attacked for adding this crap to their games. I still can't get into SF6 online because of Capcom ID and I was denied a refund because I had already downloaded the game.
Wait… didn’t Xbox listen to fan feedback and reverse their price increase to gold/gamepass when people complained? Didn’t they listen to fan feedback and not implement an always online approach for the Xbox One when people complained? (which is hilarious because it is the norm nowadays anyways). The only thing I’m curious about is if Sony will bring anymore of their games over but now with it being mandatory in regions that have psn will be required to be able to play online or cross play. I think the whole thing is hilarious considering I have had to make an EA, Microsoft, and battle net requires me to have a separate account to play online. How’s is this different.
When the psn requirement was removed it mistakenly opened the game to be purchased in a region that does not have access to psn. Implementing the psn requirements would lock out many players who purchased the game. If the psn requirements had been there from the start those players would not have been able to buy the game, that is how it is different. You bought the game with the account requirements from the start and they did not.
@@Rudy-ft2fs the plan was that the psn sign in accounts were supposed to be there at launch. They had delayed doing it due to server issues at launch. But they always had planned on implementing it. Unless we are saying the second they chose to delay it, they should have just canceled it.

Turning it off is what created the biggest issue, which was allowing the game to be sold in regions where psn is not available, which would then ban all those players who legally purchased the game in those regions when psn requirements are turned back on.

This is stupid. I’m pretty sure a big part of the implementation was cross save features, such as how halo and gears on steam prompts a Microsoft account sign in, which nobody cries about, but somehow Sony doing it is the end of life as we know it
Hypocrisy that isn’t being mentioned enough. PlayStation is really held to a different standard than Xbox, ea, Ubisoft, etc.
Sony did it AFTER many gamers from places that dont have psn bought and passed the refund window. It wasnt mandatory on startup because it got turned off because of the problems with the game and servers on launch. It never should have been sold to people where psn doesnt exist.

And if people would’ve read the game information on Steam, it was required day one, but since the servers were breaking, they had to disable it. They just didn’t keep telling people that eventually they were gonna have to link it.
That was part of the problem, the biggest problem was knowingly selling it in regions they knew didn't support PSN and would have made the game unplayable, but still chose to do it anyway.

What bothered me the most was the people defending Sony and diminishing others for either not being able to make an account or just not agreeing with the change. Like, if you don't have any problem with this, just keep playing, enjoy it, but let others protest because they have their own reasons to do it as there are people who basically would have lost the access to a game they bought. I personally have my psn account since my PS3, but I find really annoying having to create or link an account for every single game you want to play. I just recently patched the Rockstar launcher out of my copy of Max Payne 3 which I bought at launch, and don't even mention Ubisoft or Take Two with their useless launcher shoehorned into my copy of Bioshock 2.
Exactly my thoughts. Thing is though, instead of doing something hard like actively showing your discontent and doing something about it, sheep like them would rather be dismissive and resentful of the fact that other people don't just eat the poo poo like they do. They'll say it's not that big of a deal and not consider why, if it's indeed not that big of an issue, it's a requirement at all. I understand completely if it was for a good reason, like cross-play only being possible by doing so, but even in that instance I'd make it optional like a lot of cross-play games already are. The fact that those types of people don't take this as a win for gamers in general is very telling.

If they wanted to boost PSN sign ups why not just collaborate with the Helldivers team to make a free skin for anyone who has their PSN account linked to Steam? Obviously won’t convince everyone to make a PSN account but I’m sure a lot of people would make one just to get that “exclusive” skin.
To be fair Xbox DID pivot on the Gold price. It stayed $60 a year.
While PlayStation raised the PS Plus price to $80 a year (which is insane) and did not pivot.

Some have already, some will, and some won't. I haven't yet, because after something like this I'd like to see them reign in some of their CMs before I change it back. I've seen hopeful first steps, and if that keeps up I'll gladly change my review back to the strongest recommendation I can possibly give - it's an amazing game and deserves unending praise thus far.

As a PlayStation guy I agree removing it. My question is, why won’t Xbox/microsoft remove the requirements from Sea of Thieves? I literally had to use my recently crated account to log onto Xbox to friend a Xbox player. You cannot do it in game and I don’t see the PlayStation community freaking out over this. It’s really there same thing. To play on PC you need a Xbox account right?

Ok as a person who plays both consoles I’ll educate youse. The reason this is so bad is because it’s an online game. Most Xbox ones you can play offline without an account if it’s single player. The reason this was worse is because they let people play hundreds of hours for months. Then said you need a PS account. PS is only available in 69 countries. Meaning anyone outside of those 69 countries can’t play the game anymore. Here in the UK to make a PS account you need to upload photo ID and everything too so people without photo ID again locked out of playing. This is why it was such a big issue. For a lot of people it was making the game unplayable.
The difference is, Sea of Thieves made that clear from the get-go it required an Xbox account. This recent change happened months after it so many people play it... that's a bait and switch.
Stellar Blade still needs protection from censorship... sign the petition if you haven't already.
