This computer was such a pain in the ass to repaste, let’s thank dell for making it easy
eh. i dont think its too bad. ive seen worse.
Thanks for this! Successfully tore my 7588 down, repasted, and am back up and running within an hour!
thanks for the video! I thought my laptop was running hot and thanks to your video I was able to tear it down to the point where I could clean the fans and sure enough they were plugged up with dust.
Awesome video, extremely helpful. I feel ready to replace the keyboard assembly :)
This was helpful, thank you.
Hello, please how long is the backlit flex cable connector?
Im honestly curious if you can replace the power button to the fingerprint reader? Is there space for that?
thank you :)
Can you PLEASE tell me what is the corret keyboard flat cable conector for Dell G7 157588? I´ve been searching for it for a while, Dell support is unable to tell me, they want me to replace the whole motherboard!
Thank you very much. The reason I had to disassemble my laptop is quite embarrassing. So I've been using Blu-tack to cover my camera for privacy reasons as I never needed to use it. Years later I finally needed to turn on the camera so I removed the Blu-tack and turned the camera on but the camera didn't work. I couldn't figure out why it didn't work because the light would turn on and I could only see a black screen. Turns out my camera basically had cataracts and the Blu-tack somehow seeped through the seam of the lens and bezel. I confirmed this by shining a torch into the camera and I could see the light on my screen. Was able to remove the bezel whilst the screen was still attached and got most of the Blu-tack out. I'll be using masking tape next time smh.
This video was great unfortunately whe. I went to take apart the laptop the screws were so tight and i was unable to remove them and they stripped incredibly easy and the one screw that was on the antenna area was already stripped before i could even try and remove it (this was my first time opening up the laptop) o also removed the antenna just as you showed but now the antenna wont work! So sadly i didnt get my keyboard replaced. However the video was helpful sadly i just was unable to replace mine. Thanks for the video
there's a transfarent plastic with the marking DELL you didn't described #4-1
SSD can be replaced with NVME M.2 if required.
can you help me where to locate the module for the speakers?
it was working before, and after the thermal paste replacements and everything else, i put it back and the speakers arent working. i am sure enough that its the hardware that i might have messed up, so do you have any idea where it is, including the connections and all that
Help I can’t remove the back. I got the small screw out and tried to pull the back out and it won’t remove
Hey man. I actually screwed up the wifi card bolt. its too tight and I can't seem to remove it and now the bolt it ruined and there is nothing i can do now. Can I get to the cpu without removing wifi card? I just want to replace thermal paste
Please creat video teardown Lenevo 7i and 5i
why is there part of a usb cable connected to that thing under the fan to the left 1:14
Any chance you know where to get parts for this. I need a keyboard.
eBay
How do I remove the display cable can't see close enough & didn't hear explanation
How did you re install the battery connector?
It just slides in laterally.
So i have done this and after doing everything and re assembly the quality of the sound feels weird and different. Do you have any idea about that?
If it happened after you replaced something else, go back over your work. If you were replacing the speakers specifically, then maybe they are less quality or defective?
So it’s not letting me remove the back case from the computer and there looks to be yellow stuff around the edge. Has it been glued shut or did something rupture?
Mine has the same problem, did you ever figure that out?
Liked the G7 but the keyboard on mine is screwed since it is crap with keys just not working . To replace it is a nightmare and others have said even bringing it to a Dell directed tech shop the techs screwed up reattaching it and needed a new attaching harness from Dell costing hundreds. What the FF? I now have a USB external keyboard which works for now but this is the last Dell I buy. Not making this mistake again.
why the hell does dell make this particular laptop so damn complicated? I had a Asus that was so easy to open and re-paste I didnt even need a guide.
Really though, it's way too complicated and I can't comprehend how they can't make this more straightforward and simple. I will still use my G7 15, but I'll think twice, or maybe thrice next time about Dell laptops when I'm planning buying a new one. Having to pass through this hell just to repaste. And I might not be as annoyed if Dell also shipped the laptop with higher quality thermal paste than it is using now, and at a way reasonable amount. They put way too much paste into that shit.
Agree this is a joke. The keyboard on mine is screwed since it is crap. To replace it is a nightmare and others have said even bringing it to a tech shop the screwed up reattaching it and needed a new attaching harness costing hundreds. What the FF?
@@shyhrk Agree never buying a Dell again. I liked the G7 but the keyboard had issues and replacing is a joke. Never again
Agreed. Most difficult computer to open apart.
I have the same laptop, and it sucks! I have to replace the thermal paste because it is overheating. I have a cooling pad and small fan, I cleaned it, I removed the overclock and nothing works. I am guessing the thermal paste is not good anymore after 2 and a half years of use. Nice video:)
Me too... I have it almost 3 years, using cooling pad too...
For now I'm undervolting to make it less hot, but I will have to repaste it ASAP. But damn.. Dell make all of this so complicated,... just watching this video I'm feeling so overwhelmed already.
@@shyhrk Yes, if only I knew from the start what I was buying, I would've just build a pc lol.
TheKordy EXACTLY! Ahahaha.... Well, still, what done is done,.... I wish for the best for both of us (and our laptops).
@@shyhrk What games do you play?
TheKordy Sorry! Didn’t get notified by youtube app. I play maybe Apex or Destiny 2 at most. Usually I run PCSX2 or Nox emulator. I mostly uses the laptop for work and stuff, like photoshop etc, and even that everything is overheating.
Anyway. Just a few hours ago I finally succeed repasting the laptop. (I ended up stripping some screws because they make it way too tight!). Also updated windows and bios to 1.13.0.... The option for thermal management in Dell Power Manager appeared after updating bios... I then selected the “Cool” setting, now everything will not be hotter than 80℃, but still with reasonable performance. I’m pretty satisfied for now, hopefully it stay this way.
I did never saw the Intel Optane memory
Y nunca mas se volvio armar. Xd buen video
i just stripped 3 screw on the heatsink and i dont know what to do
You will probably need to use a screw extractor to get them out now.
i just drilled them out
Ketiaaa what type of drill and how? I have the same problem and at this point i just wanna throw the motherboard at the wall and never look back
@@edgardocastaneda9402 a normal drill, I just drill the head off ad replace it with a new screw. Be careful and good luck.
@@edgardocastaneda9402 Once you drill a small hole in the center of the screw, an extractor bit will dig into it and hopefully remove the rest of the screw.
Can I remove my fan for cleaning without taking apart the whole laptop?
Nope. It sucks.
i left comments on your other vids so please read them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly just gonna fucking kms, can't unscrew half the screws, likely won't be able to clean the dust
I’m so fucking irritated with Dell. I have tried for days to pry open the fucking keyboard panel and back of the computer with spudgers, credit cards, thin metal rods, everything and it won’t come off. I unscrewed everything and I don’t know why the thing won’t fucking come off. For some reason dell makes it way harder than any other laptop I have opened to disassemble.
and whatsapp anri!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im spamming mi message on all of your vids please please oh god notice me!!!!!!!
Shut the fuck up
