Why is the battery score only 8 out of 10?
It was supposed to be 10, but I made a typo. Add two more points to the overall score to 90%
@@andrewmarcdavid Do you happen to make a typo for the gaming benchmarks also? The 8840hs variant is with 780m integrated GPU which is quite a lot powerful than the IntelARC igpu and on the screens you show on both of the videos there is barely 1fps difference.
I picked this one over the 120hz version for better battery life. The battery life is insane and comparable to my m2 macbook. Getting 11-13 hours easily
For a sale price of $799.99 over at Best Buy, the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (Q425MA) is not a bad laptop and it's to be recommended if you're looking for something that won't cost you an arm and a leg so to speak. The 1080p webcam and internal mics are very clear and it also has an excellent battery life. Asus, like Lenovo, make great laptops which are usually reasonably priced or just wait until they go on sale before getting yours. Great work Andrew! 👍😁
Does it come with a Touch ID?
It's on sale again, I thought it was almost a pricing error, ended up ordering open box excellent condition for around $680 without knowing much about it. I actually ordered it on my ten year old zenbook that's really limited by the core count and 8gb ram. 32gb would be nice for future but on my desktop I rarely see Windows tick over 20gb
I’m currently looking at the Slim (Yoga) Pro 7i with Intel Core Ultra 7. I’m in Europe so it’s available here, tho I didn’t find it in the US shop, so I assume not many large CZcamsrs will be reviewing it 🤔
Currently there’s some good deals for around 1300$ (1250€), with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Laptop sounds great as well.
you really do give some of the most complete reviews. long time subscriber and, I must say, you've earned it.
Thanks 🙏
@@andrewmarcdavid zenbook 14 OLED vs HP Spectre 360, which one should I get? Seems like these two laptops are very close in every aspect.
Like your content, without any flaws or water, just straight to the point. Short but powerful. Always a warm and welcom feeling when watching your video's. Hope you'll get the attention and the audience that you deserve or nevermind, the audience gotta deserve you)

Great review! Did you notice and coil whine (sound like a scratching cd player) in a quiet room?
This was a really useful in depth review. Would be interested to hear your evaluation of the 16" S5606
Hello Andrew! I'm from Brazil and have been watching your videos for a while. I've to confess as you usually say your work is "best in the class".
I was just searching for which laptop to buy for my 2025 trip to the USA, and I ended up here. Thanks bro!
You do a good job of presenting the significance of technical things for laymen. I'd love to hear more about the efficiency cores and who the NPU benefits
hey Andrew, quick question: Which MB Pro do you daily drive? 14 or 16 inch? I wanted to know how it feels carrying it around, using it off-desk. I am thiking of returning my Yoga Pro 9 2024, not because it is bad but because of the numpad shifting everything to the left and throwing me off. Might opt for a MB or Spectre.
Welldone Andrew! You always provide very informative review 👍 As for the audio comparison btw Zenbook and yoga slim, Zenbook sounds better with slightly better sound definition
Do you think it's worth the upgrade from the Q415MA ultra 5 with 8gb at $549? No gaming, primarily light editing, internet, emails, basic work related tasks?
Thank you for the heads up. I jumped online and just bought it right now. I've been looking for a long time so this was perfect timing.
Glad I could help!
What about the ultra 5? Would i miss out on. Lot between thr 5 and 7 ?
Hey Andrew great video!! I’m a IT student and need a laptop. I’m going to be doing a lot of labs and it/tech based work on it every day. Would you say this model Or the 14x for what I’m trying to use it for. Or if you have another recommendation in this price range.
We have the '23 Zen14 and I gotta say, as a casual user, it has been a fantastic performer. We keep it within it's limits but I would not hesitate for a second to run photo editing software or even CAD design software like Chief Architect on it. I understand that there would be limits to running applications like that, but it would only be on the more advanced rendering features, or deep editing sharpening or masking passes. So if the new Zenbook performs better than the last gen version, while still maintaining the features that made it so good in '23...then I'd pick another one up in a heartbeat.
Hey Andrew, thanks for reviewing it briefly, I'm in confusion to buy it or not from past few days... does glossy screen will cause any discomfty while using it? or is it ignorable? the 799 offer is still active should I buy it tomorrow or should i go for Samsung galaxy book 4 650$, or is their any good deals?
and one more thing if I buy this in bestbuy store how can I use your link?
Thanks for the review very informative I’ll use your link!😊
Excellent review. I just went to pick one up. It is charging right now. Will replace my Alienware R17.
I am considering HP Zbook Firefly G10 alptop, how does Zenbook 14 OLED stands against Zbook? Please advise.
Hi, do you know of any laptops with HDMI-IN? It is hard to find, because when manufacturers list I/O ports, they do not say it is only an input of this kind. Second, the Lenovo thinkcentre m90a pro has a thunderbolt 3 input functionality, so one can display the laptop on the thinkcentre and use one of the ssd inside. Also GPD Pocket 3 has a similar function, namely the KVM module, here display can be shown on the GPD pocket 3 and you can use the keyboard to control the other device, this is what I am searching for but in a bigger 14 inch size. So, I am trying to find this functionality in a laptop/desktop. Is there a way to get this? Does such hardware exist? (Some people recommend a capture card, but there must exist a simpler solution like GPD pocket 3. I do know that getting a display with KVM is also a solution, but I am in need of second OS which I can use for backup via WIFI) Thanks in advance, kind regards.
Hey Andrew, love your channel!
Which is better - The older 14X which you reviewed before or this Q425MA? Not counting price in mind because usually the older 14x goes on sale for 699
I think the design and display resolution is the only noticeable difference. In my opinion this one looks a lot better. 2K on a laptop instead of 3K is better for battery life
Can you review some Expertbook models from ASUS ?
Just picked this up April 9th. Let’s see how it goes . I broke my surface tablet last week , For the price I couldn’t resist.
Nice PC especially at this sales price. Camera and mics were very good. Speakers playing music sounded better than the Lenovo. Sounded a little richer. Agree that there was some screen wobble but not bad at all. Keyboard not the best but at this price point one cannot complain. For what you get for this price agreed it is a "steal" no doubt. With Best Buy always seemly run rotating sales on their products it is very possible we might see the higher priced model of this pc on sale in the near future. Who knows. Anyway another great and honest review of this pc.
Thanks for your review! It’s very thorough and I recently purchased one. It’s so far a great laptop and did not break my wallet too much with the deals you mentioned!
HP has a Pavilion Plus 14 Oled sales (Ultra Core 5 125h 16GB for around $700; and the Core 7 155h 32Gb for $880). Do you recommend the Pavilion Plus 14 with those prices over the new Zenbook for $799?
As someone who has had the Pavilion Plus 14 (Ryzen 7 7840U) from 2023 it's a really good laptop, only nitpick would be build quality, otherwise it's perfect for me. If the Ultra 7 battery life is as good as the AMD ones from last year, I'm sure it'll be a great contender too
From reviews ive seen of both models it looks like the 7840u pavilion plus has the better battery life of the two. I have that laptop too and Id keep it over the core ultra version @SirSean
Hey Andrew, great video!! I’m a Software Developer (.NET Developer). I have to use at the same time several development tools (like MS SQL server, MS Visual Studio, VS Code), Web browser with multiple tabs and sometime MS Excel, word and others small software. Please let me suggest, does this Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (Q425MA) good choice for a software developer?
There is other model 14 OLED UM3406HA with 7 8840HS for the same price, compared to the Ultra 7 which one is the best?
I have it and review on the way this week. Stay tuned.
Good value laptop for college students majoring in engineering.
SSD speed: 5k Mb/s read speed
RAM speed: 7467 Mhz
Multi-core CPU speed: 14k according to Cinebench R23
GPU TFLOPS: 5-6 TFLOPS
DCI-P3: 100%
Regarding the "screen door effect" you mentioned, isn't that due to the touchscreen digitizer layer and not necessarily an OLED characteristic? That was my understanding at least.
Touchscreen digitizer so you are correct
Can it run autocad or sketchup with the arc graphics?
This or the amd version that is currently sold at walmart at 799 with amd 8840hs? Also waiting for the 32gb version to drop price. I hope it happens soon. Thank you for the reviews. I wonder which one has better battery life the intel or amd version?
I just got the AMD version in for review. Stay tuned.
@@andrewmarcdavid excellent! Will do!
it will be close but intel does better on idle state so i think the intel may be bettter
@@user-np5dc3cp2bwhat is idle state. Doesnt the amd version have longer battery life ok 17+ hours compared to intels 15+ hours as stated in asus' ads
@@getrekt6635 i was reading the processor can go to lower wattage usage when the computer is idle on the intel
I'm curious. I just bought one of these yesterday, mostly based on your review, and did several runs of Time Spy. Your result was a score of 3815 (3478 GPU / 8436 CPU) which is was impressive. My best run was a score of 3306 (3093 GPU / 5425 CPU). Fully charged and plugged in with power profile set together performance. Any idea what I might be missing that is hurting my scores?
Make sure you put it in highest performance mode in my asus app and in windows power settings
@@andrewmarcdavid Ah ha! I did not know about the performance mode in the my Asus app. Ran a Time Spy score of 3714 which puts me up in the ballpark that I was expecting. Thank you for the assist!
Any plans on reviewing the alienware m16 r2?
great laptop. great review
Would you recommend this one or the 14X for 839 same ram and memory?
14X will have better performance
I can play emulators ps3 and switch?
Can run steam games too?
I want to buy this laptop for cad work (beginner level) and Uni work (essays). Will this laptop be able to do cad ? And will the 16gb of memory suffice ? In Germany the prices are so ridiculous. Nearly 1900$ for 32 gb ram.
Thanks for the review :)
If it's AutoCAD then, yes, it'll be fine unless you're looking to do a lot of 3D work. If it's CAD for floor plans etc then you wont need a GPU.
@@design-dwg5785 we use creo in university for 3D modeling but only small parts like pistons etc. Right now we have a maximum of 5-10 pieces per build. If I buy a pc with dedicated gpu it will destroy the battery. And I won’t only use cad.
@@muemmelil Most (if not all) CAD programs can run on integrated graphics, but will just slow down when things get more complex. I'm not familiar with CREO so you'd have to check the minimum requirements but if a dedicated GPU is not required (as a minimum) then you might be okay.
This is more than good enough wtf u saying
@@DarkwearGT its saying exactly what's written, wtf you on about?
It's a good pc for gaming ?
How much Ram is used on your unit? My unit uses over 70% of the 16 Gb Ram out of the box. If I install and open any application like Edge browser, the usage is 80% and more. Do you have the same issue?
70% does not sound right.. on my 14x right now its 38% with no webpages, just the browser open. How many tabs you have open? and how many are like youtube videos or sites with lots of ads? if you do, 70% is kinda normal. depends what u got open and running inside
I have nothing open and it runs at 60%, I checked the task manager, no applications running
@@abouelmagdmakramalla875 did you update bios version to latest already? another thing at least that I did was befote using i did cloud recovery at bios with a new nvme to install all the os and asus related software and drivers. I dont know if running a memory test at bios would give any clues with this sort of issue. why dont you record a short video of the task manager and post on youtube? maybe theres a process that is misbehaving? you can also contact asus customer service to get more ideas if you are worried about it
So, for light video editing (4k) it will be okay for when I need it?
Yes, it will be fine.
*Asus came out with a couple interesting new 16" OLED laptops, the S5606 ($1099, Intel) and the M5606 ($999, AMD). Curious what you think of these.*
Hey there I thought I might just add this but regarding the 60hz oled screen you don’t need to pay 1299 dollars for 120hz some older models have that 120hz smoothness for just about the same price or even slightly less😊
Hi, everyone. I just picked this up. It's mostly great so far. But I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to set the backlight keyboard light to automatically turn off after a few seconds of no use? I cannot find that setting.
What difference between this model and zenbook 14 UX3405MA
Can u make a review on the Lenovo Legion slim 5 Ryzen 7 8845HS 2024?
Really nice litte laptop. Looks great for doing work on the go.
Are the usb ports 3.2 gen 2?
Great performance for that price! Asus usually has a great price to performance ratio for sure. I wish we got some better deals in canada though. Same device at bestbuy here is $1600 lol
Agreed!
Spectre x360 14 or this?
HDMI port plus both thunder bolts all on the right hand side, is this laptop designed for left handed people (i.e. uses the mouse of the left)?
I think its just a popular design choice idk
Great job as always 👍 I'm an Asus guy
Just from curiosity, when you guys in USA speak of a price, in this case for example 799$, does it have a tax included?
Tax is not included
I would recommend the zenbook UM3406HA instead of this. Its only for sale at walmart but its about $800 for a ryzen 7 8840hs 16gb of ram and 512gb of storage. Its the same chassis as this zenbook and the same screen but has a little better battery life and of course is just cheaper.
not sure battery life will be that much better but the IGPU may be the better bet on amd
I just received it from Asus, stay tuned for review on the way.
@@andrewmarcdavid you'll probably be the first to review it. Right now this laptop basically does not exist. No youtube reviews and asus hasn't done any marketing for it all. For what its worth i'm typing this comment on it right now and its a very good laptop.

@@akin242002 yes

Would you pick this over the hp ?
you just posted this video and i just bought it lol and it got delivered today. this is meant to be
Great minds think alike!
Dang, that $800 price tag is a great deal, but without that deal, you are only saving 200 for not having the upgraded resolution and and only 60Hz refresh rate. I think the extra 200 might be worth the cost in that aspect.
Did you say premium quality? I have the Zenbook 13 OLED (which at least looks very similar) from a couple of years ago. Before buying it I saw "aluminium", "premium", ""military grade" and the price (1200 back then for i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD) and I thought ""this has to be close to my XPS''s quality". Then this thing arrived and oh my, I have never seen a laptop that creaks and squeaks more! Night and day with the XPS. So I've never been able to "love" the Zenbook (I am writing from it).
So has this changed at all with this new model? Because if it hasn't changed drastically, then this cannot be called premium despite the materials. People beware!
Looks like comparing this back to the UX3405, even if I buy the stylus $99+32GB LPDDR5X $~100 total about $1000, for extra $300, I get 120hz refresh rate, window 11 pro, higher resolution (lower battery life?) fancy num pad on touch pad, sleeve, RJ45 adaptor, cool design and ponder blue color. Maybe UX3405 isn't that bad of a price, just fancier. Sort of getting a EX vs LX. 😂
Please review lenovo yoga pro 7 2024 with AMD ryzen 7 8845Hs + 3050 6GB.
The camera was ok, but the mic struggled with the spectrum of your voice. Choppy and low bit rate. Bad DAC or bad drivers?
Is this a region exclusive? Im still watching so if you mentioned it in the video, no need to reply!
Why are they making these touch screens? Who is using touch in windows?

I bought one yesterday but the color on it for both browsers Edge and Chrome, the images and videos have reddiilsh tints on people and look very oversaturated. For example you look like a ripe red plum, I've tried to turn off of the graphics acceleration on bith Chrome and Edge but no change. Sorry but it looks cheap. Everything else is fine on this. However the best display, build, keyboard and deal was with the ASUS14X Model:Q420VA 2.8K OLED Touch Laptop. That was terriric !
