Hey there. Man, you have me wanting to pick one of these up for traveling. If there was one thing that I wish these thin and light laptops had, it would be an LTE option. I have a ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 that has an LTE Radio option. Having the ability to post up anywhere and work has been phenomenal. But I hate the fact that it's so big and heavy. Sure, it has 4 NVME slots, 4 RAM slots, an SD card reader, etc.. but I'd "make due" with something like this if I could just open it up and work anywhere. (sure, I know I can get a hotspot, and I have one, but it's not the same as just opening the lid and getting to work).
Anyway.. this looks like a very cool device.
    Thanks for the video.
    Cheers
    Rick

should I go for 4 sticks of 32? or settle for 2 sticks of 48 (and having only 96gb)?

I USED to absolutely love Asus. I purchased a $1200 metal chassis Zenbook from them & in less than a year later it was toast. It was a struggle to get them to make it right. I’m talking months of back & forth, 6 trips for the laptop back & forth to fix their defective motherboard, then their defective wifi chip. They ended up sticking an unsupported motherboard that I haven’t been able to completely rectify with my program ecosystem & I’ve tried to focus on getting the rest of my money out of it because they would not make it right. They will not be getting any more of my money.

Same, a few years ago I bought some of the most expensive and « premium » zenbooks they had and about 3 months in the bottom part started to separate and lift open just under the hinge where the part that’s connected to the hinge is glued to the actual bottom of the computer and I couldn’t believe it, I never took it outside or in a backpack on anything that could’ve damaged it, I didn’t use it a lot so it couldn’t be from me opening and closing it 1000 a day like a madman and I am super careful about my belongings … Never again, on the bright side the customer support in my country was actually quick to answer and asked if I wanted a refund or a replacement with the same product but after that experience I really wasn’t going to go with the same model again

This is good laptop. I have an option with 185h. I would say it's very powerful machine, in many areas much better than macbook air. I would ignore all tests using scripts to benchmark battery life- it has nothing to do with real life. you can get with this machine between 2-9 hours, depends on how you use this machine. I had over 5 hours doing for 2 h network virtualisation in cisco modeling labs (quite intensive computing, running many images in VM, including Windows PC, attached second 4k screen) and remaining time typical office staff with RDP to another PC, teams, some edge tabs open. 32 GB of ram makes a difference, and even if air's memory is faster, 8 or 16 gb is no match... One thing I did with my laptop- I replaced ssd straight after purchase and installed fresh windows OS. I think it will be no match for air in terms of battery life and noise level, but overall, battery life is very satisfying. Speaking about performance- it crashes air in almost every aspect, single core of M3 is better, but that's it. And having this machine allows you to run VMs like 64bits Windows or Windows server, cisco catalyst 9000v in cml etc. I am quite confident you can only dream about it using mac. Speaking about noise/performance ratio- you can use it activating whisper mode, standard or performance. In performance mode laptop is laud but powerful, in whisper, very quiet (most of the time you cannot hear fan), still more powerful than air. I do not use standard mode- too laud for office work, not enough performance for heavy loads. You can switch between power modes using key fn+f.
Portability- bit bigger than air but very light,
    Ports- 2xusb c/thunderbolt, 1xusb A, 3.5mm audio, hdmi 2.1- air clearly loosing here.
Great screen 2.8 k OLED up to 120 Hz leaving air way behind.
There are some other than processor improvements with air m3 model- users will be able to use wi fi channel width 160 Hz (it is beyond my understanding why apple's customers were forced to wait so long) and wifi6e as well. This is the biggest benefit of switching to M3, but most of windows laptops had this feature years ago.

Wow this sounds like a similar situation that I experienced with my 13-inch M1 Macbook Pro. I purchased on 6-25-21 and it "bricked" on 6-28-22. Apple also said I needed a new logic board and a new Touch ID key since they were connected but they would replace that for free. Cost plus Tax was about $628 at that time. What I didn't realize until later was that I could have possibly had this done for free because I purchased the Macbook on my Mastercard World Travel Rewards card and it may have been covered under the 1-year additional replacement warranty. I never followed up with it until I read something online about the additional warranty coverage. This also soured me on Apple and I ended up purchasing last year's ASUS Zenbook 14 Oled, model Q420V. I've been a windows user since 1984 so I thought about trying an Apple M1 laptop but ironically transitioned back to windows. Good Luck !

It's just not for me, who as someone who works in IT, much prefers the freedom and flexibility of the windows/android ecosystems. • @Josephyuenwai
      @Josephyuenwai Před měsícem +1

I have been following Intel core ultra cpu for sometime, what draw my interest most is comparing to Arm cpu, M3. I agree to some extend that M3 roars in many single, simplier task performance, but not multi, heavier task. The performance per cost in Apple is too high and he is right that the lifetime in M series cpu is far shorter and not a future proof for those who writes a lot to the drives. 8GB mac is basically nothing, cannot perform well in high-ram consuming task, even the video edit. Unless upgraded it to higher ram version with high cost, the ram bottleneck will be overcame.
1 task to 1 task fight, with enough ram for Mac, Mac win.
Multi-tasking, eg. many browsers opening and do video export, even with enough ram, Mac lose. You will see davinci or premiere pro rendering time drastically slow down.
For this fight, I agree with him, I will take Asus for battery life, expandability, longer lasting and most importantly COST.
If theres the fight for super performing PC without considering the cost, I rather choose Mac for simplicity and promising performance (Not doing the ML task, gaming...)

    4. The material it gets fingerprints really easily and hard to remove like I had mine for like 2 days and it already looked like a 2 years old
    5. …well thats it tbh I only had it for 2 days but I think its unacceptable for a $1100 laptop to have all of that💩

Just wait for 2 years. Microsoft will ensure they destroy any smashing performance through their regular updates. It will suddenly start to stutter, lag, get warmer due to increased CPU usage and it will be so gradual that you will not notice unless you use the latest laptop of the time.
And I'm not even talking yet about Macbook Air's:
    1. Battery backup
    2. Same performance/speed irrespective of whether it is plugged-in or not
    3. Ability to use it anywhere without caring about blocking the CPU fan's intake vents which eventually lead to a hot laptop.

Great review and a great laptop. However I am not sure if it is a Macbook AIR alternative. In terms of performance and battery life it's there but the AIR is fanless and that's a main selling point that the Macbook AIR has. The lack of fans is the reason why I am drawn to the macbook because I want an assistant laptop as a kvm, streaming media and general productivity tasks next to my main rig which will do the heavy processing. I am currently using a 7 year old google pixelbook that I bought second hand a few years ago. It's works for almost everything I need except as a kvm as it lacks the power to sustain parsec stream at more than 720p. Another reason why I want something newer is even though it's fanless the coil whine is quite audible (I'm guessing it's from it's age), but hey at least no dusty fans.
