CR Spotless Water System Upgrade and Resin Change

It was time for a resin change in my spotless water system. The initial cartridges lasted almost 2 years. I decided to upgrade the capacity of my system to last longer and cheaper for the next change. With this you can get 2 changes vs if you just buy the pre-filled cartridges.

Next time try pouring a some water down the tube to have it go in easier. Important to make sure the tube has a good seal with the base to avoid resin escaping.

Would be nice if CR would add a drain valve at the bottom of the cartridges .

Not a bad idea. You could probably add one yourself by drilling into the center of it and putting one in.

I agree putting them in first works easier. Did you cover the open ends of the tubes ?

What do you mean cover the open end of the tubes? Do you mean the part that sticks down into the resin at the bottom? If so the end is capped off and tiny slits are around the circumference of the tube at the bottom.

@@gtmachine6134 I meant the top so the resin didn’t get in the tube when you filled the base .

@@robertpenland2429 I probably could of plugged it, but didn't think much of it since it would only be an issue with the one if there was some in there as the first one just dumps into 2nd one. Also i ran enough water though it if any got sucked up, it should of been flushed out when i ran about 5 gallons through it before first real use.

How many Car Washes did you get out of it in those two years? Were you using it for rinse only?

So It lasted almost a year before i started loosing the effectiveness of the resin. I used it only for washing at first, then that was a pain in the but to keep changing the valves. So I just used it for everything when i was washing the car.
I used it for the wash bucket for the cars and to rinse and spray the foam cannon. I would say probably around 500 gallons (guessing). I probably use around 8 gallons per wash I would say including the bucket and I did around 2 washes per week give-take. It really depends on your TDS level of your current water to how long it will last.

@@ac7384 They are PEX sharkbite connections. They are double o-ring slip fittings. They are removable with the special tool if needed.

@@ac7384 They are NewAge cabinets They are the Pro series. The Bold is the same just a downgraded version to save money if you like, but just check the difference to see if you can live with them. The bolds were not for me and I wanted the Pro's
