I like both Poland and Friedman. Some days I prefer freidman other days Poland. One thing is for sure, it would’ve been awesome if Dave Mustaine unleashed Poland some more back in the day. I would’ve liked to have heard Poland inject some Holdsworth inspired licks into megadeth.
@@mrkremko1 I would loved to hear more of him too. But given the state that they were in at the time im not sure it would have been possible. Doing drugs everyday changes everything
Dude, this guy is above to somes "smart ass" jazzist, seriously listen some of his discography, and you will know that he plays in a diferent way to jazz 👌👌👌
Chris’s legacy in Megadeth is cemented and solidified. Poland has been out of that band more years than in and his style of playing is uniformly transcendent with ALL musical styles, whether it be metal, jazz, acid jazz. This man is a true guitarist. Chris and Stanley Jordan should compose music together. Now THAT would be a sound to enjoy ✌🏿
God!!!!!! that tone!!!!! Chris Poland is a monster, his tone cannot be duplicated, we've seen that over the years with every other Megadeth guitarist. That BC Rich is an Eagle????
Not sure who the guitarist on the left is, but I noticed a distinct pattern with him... he always seemed to repeat his licks twice before moving on to a new one, while Poland shredded a fresh new melody after each bar while still being consistent with the transitions... that kind of playing is truly rare and amazing
Hearing him play here makes me wish Damn The Machine were still around. I had the funkiest introduction to that band. Perhaps you had the same introduction. I got home from school one day and there was a box for sending cd's in my mailbox. Inside was a cd single from a new band called DAMN THE MACHINE. Found out it said it was Chris Poland's new band, so Immediately put it in my cd player and off I went into their world. Wasn't long after I bought the cassette and then later saw the video on HBB. That video really depressed me so I never watched it much. Thanks Bill for putting this up. Fantastic!
I bet Chris is the guitars Favorite player too. Amazing feel, he has developed a whole vibe in his playing, you hear it in all of his solos. Really cool.
Man Megadeth NEVER had a shitty guitarist, and I'm glad Chris was indeed the man who set the bar for lead guitar players in Megadeth, and yes many did follow. Yes folks I love jazz, and Metal ,and blues, and classical, and Chris Poland is definitively an elite player.
Wow i'm glad i seen this,i didn't realize how good Chris was! I'm 34 so i'm more from the 90's Megadeth seen where you have Friedman,Menza,Ellefson. My cousin always told me nobody beats,Chris,Gar,Ellefson,Mustaine lineup! Now i feel like a dog with my tail between it's legs lol !
Get a Tom Scholz Rockman X100 (they used that to record peace sells) and then get your tendon on your first finger cut. Wait about 6 months, practice for 15 years and you might (no guarantee's) sound like him.
Funny how the Bill Fountain is a crazy amazing guitarist, then next to Chris he just looks like an average guitar player. That should tell you how good Chris is.
While I agree that Chris is phenomenal, I don't like to put other players down by comparing them. Bill didn't sound average at all. He surprised me with his beautiful style! Yeah Chris is amazing, but I could listen to Bill for days too!!
"If you could just talk about your old guitar for a second.". Chris: "Okay grab it!". Chris in his mind: Well there he goes. I'm just gonna noodle for a second since I've got a second. A true guitar player.
I wish Chris would get back into touring but he has chosen to just play for fun and that's good. At least he enjoys what he is doing. I miss his style in Megadeth but I love hearing his jam sessions. He really is a virtuostic player wth his own style,
Chris had to overcome a childhood hand injury that left several tendons severed!Take a close look at his left hand index finger ashe plays. The guy's amazing!
I went down a Megadeth rabbit hole. I saw killings my business and peace Sells. The dynamic and the sound Megadeth had was sheer ground breaking. Poland and Mustaine their exchange was incredibly ear shattering but profound Ellefsons and Samuelson back beat was bone crushing. You knew this was a force to be reckoned with.
