The OWB was a Afrikaner Fascist movement in South Africa which started a low intensity guerrilla war in support of the Germans. Many of their members would continue to join the National Party which would instate Apartheid in 1948. The Nazis also had organisations for German's overseas, and some South African Germans did become Nazis too.
thanks
Weren't those "South African Germans" in fact Dutch and only really associated with Germany because the Kaiser supported their rebellion/ second Boer war to upset Britain?
I have never heard of an OWB, maybe you are referring to the AWB or Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging? But that wouldn't make sense, they were founded in the 70s! Or maybe, you are referring to the Ossewabrandwag or OB?
@@AmericanCaesarian yes I'm referring to the Ossewabrandwag
@@walsh9080 there are also actual German speaking people in South Africa, who are not Afrikaners. You are referring to the entirely seperate German support of the Boer Republics. Boers are themselves nor entirely descented from Dutch, but also have a large percentage French and German descent.
Could you do a video on the topic of how San Marino was ruled by both fascist and later communist parties?
Allegedly, they even declared war on the UK as well during fascist rule, though there is no indication the British ever received the declaration
There was also an alleged crisis involving the communist administration in the 1950s, possibly involving Italian involvement, though I'm not familiar with the details
I guess Jabzy is big enough now that Raid Shadow Legends supporting him.
Btw the ad
I wonder if Indy Neidell will cover this moment in WW2 to.

We had a failed "fascist" coup in 1938 here in Brazil. It was led by the ingralists and a prince from the former imperial family was involved. They invaded the presidential palace but were quickly defeated. The episode is known as Levante Integralista.
They actually sent 80 men in the Prussian war and gained a friend who went back with them when the war was over.
That has been unfortunately debunked. Turns out it was just an austrian officer who accompanied the men back home and later returned home to Austria himself.
@@nilsmadej9091 I like to believe he was always welcome back and he was friends with them
There's the Irish Blueshirts. They had organised a parade which would go very near the Irish Parliament which basically everyone knew was going to be a Mussolini style coup. In the end the Taoiseach just banned them from having this parade and it seems they cancelled the whole thing out of embarrassment. Admittedly I don't know very much about it.
The leader of the blue shirts was also the first commenisher of the Irish ploice and a ex member of the Irish Republican army who done a lot of work when they were throwing the English out of Ireland History is complicated lol.
@@curragh2840 strange time that, the interwar period, after the fall of the previous world order of empires and before the domination of only democracies and communist regimes, when fascism seemed feasible.
So, lichtenstein pulled a Scarlett O'Hara and decided they weren't ever going to be poor again?
i have watched many ww2 doc and i still didn't knew about this
In 1938, the integralists attempted a coup d'état after dictator Getúlio Vargas closed all political parties, including theirs, although their party supported the government so far. Integralism was the closest of Brazilian political movements to fascism.
In Peru there was the Revolutionary Union, a party formed to protect and gather around Sanchez Cerro for the elections, who couped Leguía in 1930.
The group was philofascistic, having Mussolini Fascists as model since they had their own Blackshirts, rivalry with Communists and Apristas, etc.
The group was sidelined by Gnrl. Benavides when he became president, the leaders were exiled (some leave fascism to not be so distasteful to the USA and stay in power) and the group disappeared with the collapse of the Axis.
What’s with the echo?
There was a number of edits made to the beginning section and i think i buggered up/missed a fault in the last edit.
Also I like the Juan Luna painting behind you :)
Love the video, wouldn't mind more on small countries during WWI n WWII
There was a branch of the Falangist movement in Manila during the Commonwealth years who supported Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco during the War and reluctantly supported the Imperial Japanese, although they actually despised them. Sadly I only knew of this as a footnote in one of our history books and I could not find much evidence of this later.
@DANIEL BIN OMAR - Not really, ever since after the EDSA Revolution made any sense of a "political spectrum" in our country's parties nonsense.
@DANIEL BIN OMAR - oh I remember now. the poltical spectrum of philippine politics is the definition of nepotism, cronyism, and oligarchic politics
@DANIEL BIN OMAR - You want to see Filipino Neo-Nazis? Go look for them the World of Tanks SEA server.
@@studiosnch Also, the Falangist movement in Philippines was only for the Spanish community. The indios, however, have a pseudo-fascist movement called Ganap under Benigno Ramos. Started out as a vocal critic of Quezon, he became more sympathetic to Imperial Japan
@DANIEL BIN OMAR - Neo-Nazis here are the next stage of evolution from your typical toxic gamer.
Same can be said about slavaboos, especially those unironically praising Stalinism.
A really interesting video.

11:28 Not just Canada, but North America as well, with blessings from fascist movements in the USA. Also, because of his strong catholicism, when the Pope condemned the Nazis for their use of pagan symbols (the svastika), he backtracked in his use of the svastika for a new symbol, a torch, to comply with his faith didacting him to obey the always right chief of catholicism. His main financial backer (which allowed him to publish newspapers like Le Goglu) was also a doctor, Doctor Lalanne, who was illegally performing abortions in very VERY conservative Quebec under the rule of what was essentially a christian theocracy for almost a century at that point (even US celebrities where doing abortions with him thanks to connections with his brother that had a succesful business in the US).

@@matthew5386 historyofyesterday.com/small-nazis-the-hidden-history-of-fascism-in-liechtenstein-c5342d7a0fc5 --- here's a good article
Hopefully youre calling nazism(racial socialism) “right wing” out of ignorance and not for some political or nefarious reason.
It's always kind of dodgy to apply modern definitions to political scenes from over 80 years ago. In general though I believe it's largely accepted that fascist parties overall would fall on the current "far-right" spectrum, notably for their strong authoritarianism, protective nationalism and xenophobic core principles. The NSDAP was socialist in name only (in what we would call today a populist branding I suppose), and total hatred for communism was at the absolute core of Hitler's and his government's political views.
(Also, though I am less certain of this, I'm still pretty sure that even back then nazism and fascism in general were politically much more closely affiliated to the conservative parties, and opposed to the liberal/progressive ones, so falling already on a fairly similar right/left wing pattern to what we have today)
@@accountone9055 Actually not initially, fascism came from the Italian socialist movement. Most people did associate them with the socialists for this reason.
A good example that Nazism wasn't inherently closely associated with conservatism is Britain. In Britain it was the Conservative party that most advocated conflict with the Nazis despite appeasement (a lot of the British were still pretty anti-war in Europe because of WW1), eventually it was the Conservative party that declared war upon Germany. A lot of the left still wasn't fully on board with the war until the fall of France (even then some of the far left still opposed the war until the invasion of the Soviet Union).
@@walsh9080 British political attitudes to the Nazis had far more to do with international power relations and internal public reluctance to get into another massive bloodbath than abstract ideology.
@@walsh9080 No, it was specifically *Mussolini* who "came from the Italian socialist movement". His views started radically changing into a more pro-war, pro-tradition bent, and he was eventually kicked out of the socialist party he was a part of. His views accelerated their change after that.
@@PhysicsGamer Where do you think his supporters came from too? It wasn't just one guy, the movement came from there, although you're obviously right to assert, with some serious modifications. But that wasn't the point I was making though. I was making the point people associated them with socialists, which they did. Even Hitler worked with Germany's communists before seizing power. It was only later when the Nazis were in power that most average people began to divorce the two ideologies in their mind.
Switzerland had a fascist movement. They were strongly opposed by the national conservatives who were simply Swiss patriots and against foreign influence.
