Let's be real, Black Dragon Society sounds like a dope 70's blacksplitation Kung Fu flick. I literally picture the black karate gang from the Warriors every time I hear the name

Pre-war Japan's foreign policy is always so bizarre.

Japan wanted to replace the European Colonial powers, not liberate those areas

Japan in WW2 is like that movie villain whose motives are actually quite reasonable-sounding so the writers make him do a bunch of war crimes to remind you that he’s the bad guy

I think most of the comments miss the point that there was no unified japanese position or ideology. Hell, the military and navy acted virtually independently of the central government with completely different ideologies and plans, let alone independent societies like the black dragon.

Interesting. In the 1930s the Russians wanted to build a Black republic in North America.

It's crazy how many times African Americans were ask to turn on the states and yet didn't.

in hindsight people now look down upon those who allied themselves with the axis but if you were a nation with no state and suddenly a forein army came promising freedom and your own state, many saw that as their only option.

During the Abyssinia Crisis Ethiopia was described as “the last bulwark of slavery”, with Italian reports of 420,000 slaves freed after their invasion (a significant proportion of the population). For all the other crimes committed by Italians there, they did abolish the institution of slavery.

In Brazil the japanese population was also involved with this organizations and suffer the same fate as in USA, and was the most opress group, followd by poles ( ho people confused with the germans ) then the germans and very little the italians ( that came to the country before Italy was a thing and adapet very fast to a catholic society )
