- It was way back in 1986 when horror maestro Stephen King - author of awesome and disturbing books such as The Shining, Misery, Pet Semetary, and Carrie to name a few - wrote the now iconic novel, IT. The book was #22 in his bibliography and the story follows the experiences of seven children as they are terrorized by an evil entity that exploits the fears of its victims to disguise itself while hunting its prey. In this case, the monster transforms itself into Pennywise the Dancing Clown in order to lure its favorite prey - young children. That’s some sick, twisted imagination, Mr. King!
The novel was first adapted in 1990 in the form of a television mini-series starring the great Tim Curry as Pennywise. With the book being such a lengthy doorstop, a TV series was a great way to encompass it all for the small screen, even if the resulting production was a mixed bag. However, much like most of King’s other works, the big screen beckoned for Pennywise along with the Losers Club. In 2017, Argentine filmmaker, Andy Muschietti, whose 2013 directorial debut, Mama, was a suitably spooky hit for Universal, signed on as director of a new film adaptation of the book, split into two sections with It Chapter One focusing on the children of the Losers Club and It Chapter Two revisiting the little poppets as adults. Both movies proved to be smash hits, cemented Bill Skarsgard as a force to be reckoned with, and each feature scenes that are now carved in the minds of gorehounds the world over.
However, which movie floats as high as one of Pennywise’s red balloons, and which should have its arm bitten off in a sewer? There’s only one way to find out… FACE OFF!
This episode of Face Off is written by Adam Walton, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by John Nguyen. But don’t let us have the final word - tell us in the comments which Stephen King flick is your pick - 2017’s It or It Chapter 2?

#It #ItChapter2 #StephenKing - Krátké a kreslené filmy
It’s honestly embarrassing how much they fumbled part 2. The adults had nowhere near as much charm as the kids.
I blame the script, the actors were fantastic when they're given the chance.
Ya it just wasn't scary really at all and was just all over the place. I'd probably give the 1st one 3.5/5 and 2.5/5 to the second one
Which was upsetting because the cast was amazing.
Chapter 2 was a bunch of jump scares with few genuinely mentally disturbing moments.
It's just the damning nature of the fact that the first part with the kids against Pennywise will always be more compelling than when the adults do it.
I do like chapter one more but honestly I look at it as one big movie, which I loved.
Chapter 1 genuinely blew me away in the cinema (I had watched no trailers and read no reviews so went into it with zero expectations) - it kind of felt like Stranger Things meets Stand By Me meets Nightmare on Elm Street and I loved that.
Chapter 2 was straight up liquid ass.
I'll always love Dennis Christopher as Eddie
The opening of Chapter 2 was such a tease…it took my favorite/scariest part of the book and opened with it 🥰…and then they ruined it 😑 I remember when this came out and I told everyone how disappointed I was, people lined up to argue with me saying it was “great”… glad to see I’m not alone in my frustrations with part 2 🙌
Chapter 1 was way better
💯
Both chapters are great. I like to look at them as a single film instead of two
I thought this was Original vs. Remake at first, next maybe?
The voice of these videos is a little too much. Ease up on the shock jock voice.
Mind numbing how they fumbled the bag so hard on Chapter 2, I like it a little more after after rewatches but goddamn.
Honestly think the loser's club in the TV series is awesome especially the kid version
I'm not suggesting for one moment that IT Chapter 2 is EQUAL to or BETTER than the classic Chapter 1, but I still think it's a consistent and worthy sequel.
I watched It chapter 1 in the cinemas 4 times (one of which was in 4D lmao) that movie became one of my favorites of all time
I feel the only winning, no matter what, in this Faceoff... is Pennywise
Because... we all float down here
Do they have cotton candy, fries and tim curry
Okay but they're just two halves of the same movie. The internet's obsession with ranking things is pretty f**king weird and unhealthy.
Thank you!!!
This is great thank you for doing this! Can you do the unmade IT scripts from 2010, 2014, 2015?? Wtf happened to those horror movies!?
The only thing in Chapter One I wish they kept was Richie afraid of werewolf like series, was never clowns. Chapter Two, series had Henry out of asylum by dog. There was no throat slit in book. Also, Mike had Silver, wasn't in a pawnshop. Mike was stabbed and hospitalized til end in both miniseries and book. Wasn't a fan they altered to Eddie in cheek.
Chapter One and Miniseries for the win.
The kids parts of the book were way better as well.
I liked the second movie much better. First one was a bunch of weak jump scares.
And what was the second one?
I thought they did a lot of good things with part 2 but it was bogged down by cheap looking CGI and too much comedy. Both movies were good but chapter 1 was slightly better.
Here’s hoping the next time this novel’s adapted it’s as a 5-10 part mjni-series. 2 movies just isn’t enough time.
I think the first one had more effort done with it. Chapter 2 was done with a checkmark and not done with heart with the first one and all the pc crap the second made sure to push.
Couldn’t get past Pennywise looking like Bette Midlers Winifred Sanderson, something about the lips, He was much better in the first though
Next stop...
THE FLASH
So, you guys are now taking a couple hits of crack before making Face Off videos now? Cool!
I love the second part more then the 1st
Y'all have a badass day 🤘
Preferred the miniseries. The kids were better in both versions though, so the first movie was pretty good but the second was pretty bad.
Chapter 2 was a big miss for sure
Wasn't super scary but I did like both films. Mary Lambert or James Wan should've probably directed em though.
I wouldnt mind mary lambert taking a stab at it. But i think these films are pretty good chap 2 had a tall order of staying faithful to the source and complementing the first film. Def couldve took more liberties in my opinion
I feel like what people would consider best sort of depends on kind of movies they like. A growing up take mixed with horror and trauma, or at least what tries to be a more serious adult drama. Some people find kids naturally more likable, while others find them annoying. At least that's what I see happening normally.
The first one is clearly the most popular, though.
I think they could have done a better job with the way the clown looked. I really did like the first movie a lot and thought the second was a bit of a disappointment
First one was a great example of updating something everyone's already seen and doing it in a compelling and well-crafted way.
Second one seemed like it sort of took itself for granted because of the success of the first.
I thought it tv series part 2 was better the it chapter 2 movies. The it chapter 1 was better then the tv it chapter 1
I’ve always felt the adult parts of IT in book and it’s adaptations were the weakest parts. But here’s what I also didn’t like about about Chapter 2.
First, I absolutely hated Chapter 2’s intro where that gay couple was attacked. It served no purpose at all and it’s never referenced again. The gang never show up and the rest of the film pretends it never happened. This was also in the book but I hated in there too.
Second, very disappointed that Greta the Alpha Bitch bully still didn’t get any comeuppance. I hated her WAY more than Henry and his gang. Yet she never gets punished or killed. It even takes Bev back to the bathroom stall, yet she never confronts her.
Third, Pennywise felt more like a bully instead of an eldritch horror he was previously. Using childish insults like “your fat” made me less scared of him and more annoyed. Even his defeat felt lackluster.
I still enjoyed Chapter 2, but it wasn’t as good as Chapter 1.
I honestly don't like these faceoff videos on CZcams. They are so disingenuous. I have an issue with them trying to even out the score for each movie just to keep the viewers watching until the end. When in reality, let's face it, It: Chapter One is a superior movie across the board. I don't hate Chapter 2, but it's just not as good.
Chapter 2 is one of the worst horror movies ever made
the remakes were sooo bad especially the second one :/
Wrong
In another multiverse we got the Cary fuganaka version and we got will Poulter as our pennywise Andy I'm sorry but u ruined chapter one and two tho the first was decent but still thr tv series blew both your movies out the water
Yeah right the TV series was corny and really poorly made, great Pennywise but falls short in literally every department. I'm typically very nostalgic but in this instance id take the remakes any day over that G rated abortion from the 90s
The 2nd one sucked
Pure unadulterated garbage. "It" is basically modern days' "At the Mountains of Madness" in that some - I, at least - consider it unfilmable. These were terrible adaptations of a classic. The kids beat Pennywise down in the sewers, beat him down with sticks and pipes like he was a mouthy kid from the next town over. It was garbage.
Is you trying to say that Hollywood should stick to the source material for once? Im pretty sure they all beat her with their meatswords to get out instead, compelling read, my favourite drug addict author, stories from a different dimension
