Get Out Vs Us

- With only two movies under his belt and Nope on the horizon, Jordan Peele has proven himself to be one of the most fascinating voices within the horror genre. And if you had said that seven or eight years ago, most people would’ve thought you were crazy. But even when he was best known for the hilarious sketch comedy show Key and Peele, Jordan proved very capable of combining surreal dark humor with unnerving imagery.
Although we knew the man was very talented, it’s safe to say no one was quite prepared for the impact his debut feature, Get Out, would have, not just on horror fans, but the cinematic landscape at large. Socially relevant, morbidly funny, and consistently terrifying, the film became an instant classic upon its release, before culminating at the Academy Awards with four Oscar nominations and one win for Peele’s ingenious, layered screenplay. Following that up would be no easy feat, but Peele was up for the challenge with another clever, haunting horror effort, Us, which introduced a fresh new spin on the home invasion sub-genre. While maybe not quite as universally beloved as its predecessor, Us was a box office hit and fostered a very serious fanbase, large enough to prompt debates over which film is the superior one.
And, wouldn’t you know it, that’s what we’re going to discuss right here. It’s Jordan against Peele, a tough competition. But we’re ready for this battle, hope you are too! You know what it’s time for… FACE OFF!
This episode of Face Off is written by Eric Walkuski, narrated by Shawn Knippelberg, and edited by John Nguyen. But don’t let us have the final word - tell us in the comments which social thriller is your pick - Get Out or Us?

#faceoff #GetOut #Us #JordanPeele #joblohorror - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Peele is 3 for 3. I always leave his films in high spirits, having been both thoroughly entertained and given more than enough talking points for deeper discussion. Unpopular opinion: I think Nope is easily his best film in every conceivable way.
I think I might agree with you there, maybe. I have never re-watched Us; it totally freaked me out. I have watched Nope and Get Out several times over.
While I liked both, "Get Out" is simply more memorable, and the whole twist is just more shocking to me.
My main issue with Get Out was that it just reminded me of Skelton Key.
I loved both. I'm a fan of both psychological horror and the more visceral horror so both of these were great to me. Really liked Nope as well, as it leans more towards Sci-Fi.
Never watched either of those movies
While Get Out is tighter and its story and theme clearer, I found Us fascinating and much scarier. Still can't believe Lupita wasn't even in the conversation for the biggest acting prizes.
Get Out was such a fricken good movie. Us was good too but yeh, I’ve seen Us twice and seen Get Out at least ten times by now.. it’s so fun watching it with friends who haven’t seen it. Both are damn good movies but if I was to recommend one then it would be Get Out for sure..😁👍
I really liked both films but my vote is for Us. The villains in Get Out made some glaring mistakes (such as the gf keeping photos of her black ex lovers.) And the "bad guys" in Us... well you could feel for them and the unfairness that they had to endure. Plus the ending of Us hints that there is still that could come. And while that may be unsatisfactory to some, I prefer it to the "good guy wins" ending in Get Out.
I was liking US more than Get Out until the whole end reveal of who made the tethered then the film just lost me.
The entire exposition dump at the end of Us was terrible, but that entire movie felt like it was filmed with a first or second draft of a script, and really could've used a few rewrites to fix it up.
Happy new year 🥳 team. you're channel continues to blow me away every episode here's to 2023
Have seen all of his movies in theater. Get Out is arguably better. It's a more accessible movie. Us impacts me on a different level and "sticks with me" more. It, for me, taps into a feeling that is difficult to describe to those unfamiliar. Once the film's association with that feeling reaches a certain point, it (to me) feels less like a plot driven piece, and more of a surreal expression of that feeling. Legit just my opinion. Us is almost a harder watch because it's a more emotionally driven piece.
US scares me so bad lol
"Us" had an AMAZING trailer - one of the best I'd ever seen.👏👏👏
Get Out is terrific but there's something about Us that gives it the edge, IMO. I find it much creepier.
I felt like us was super creepy
US sounds like a variation on
INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.
Best to see these 🎥 films
as a Double Feature night.
Get Out overall
Need to see get out
Happy & Healthy New Year 😀
HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳🎉🎊🎈
all 3 movies are good but id have to say may order is.... get out (1) us (2) nope (3)
I thought Get Out and Nope were both amazing but I was not so big on Us. The disturbing parts were more silly to me. The underground lair and the whole plot? Just didn't work for me. Too much metaphor honestly.
LOVED them both! But, to me, "Get Out" is a "better" movie overall, while "Us" is more re-watchable. If I really want to be entertained, I watch "Us".🖤🖤
I watch GET OUT when I want a great slow burn horror concept that takes thought and more focus on multiple characters.
I watch US when I want an intelligent slasher movie that turns cliches upside down and gives beautiful imagery that pays homage to classics like Elm Street, JAWS, and Lost Boys.
Peele rocks these movies, excellent imagination. Get Out is still my favorite. I can't hear a tea cup being clinked without remembering this movie. US was no disappointment, still need to see Nope. Happy New Year!!
Get Out: extreme version of cultural appropriation.
Us: stim cell cloning gone mad
Nope: our obsession with social media & going viral
That's how I view the films. I've watched Get Out & Us numerous times. Get Out had a little more comedy due to Lil Rel's character & the movie seemed to move along faster. The tone of Us more serious, I'd give it the edge for being "scarier".
Only seen Nope once so far. It's the slowest movie to me. The "monster" traveling form is hilarious. Til this day, some people believe UFOs are out there & trying to capture it on video. The "monster" true form (especially when its aimed at the main character) is interesting. Think of a camera lens taking a picture.
I'm confused, on the horizon?
Hate to tell you my friend, but Nope has been out for a while🤔🤣🤣
For me GET OUT And Nothing more.
we are out of here..come with us...come..
Get Out!
I liked the movie get out but i didnt like the movie us
I think these face off videos would be more compelling if the categories were more set or consistent. But as is, best case scenario, the inconsistent categories often telegraph the winner before they're declared. Worst case, JoBlo ends up copping out and wasting your time because they won't commit to a winner for fear of backlash from their audience.
After these two awesome movies I could not wait to see Nope; and I was NOT disappointed. Jordan, you have a very sick mind and we love you.
Haven't seen either yet but damn Nope was bad. It had some cool elements like the cinematography, some really excellent shots and it was well acted but nothing about it felt cohesive to the point that I could not connect to the characters at all, and I love the entire cast. That movie was just a narrative mess. I've heard Get Out is better and I've also heard Nope is the best movie ever made so I don't know man, maybe his films just aren't for me.
They are both sub par
I have never seen US. Get out was okay but also took time for me to really get into because controversial themes can be distracting. and let's just face it guys racism is just gonna be here. I just choose to ignore it. An okay story that could be driven home better with the vision of some one like Spielberg who really is great with balancing the horric with the light-hearted. The movie is good just a lil tough to see as traditional horror because it's not traditional horror.
I thought Get Out was quite good (although it's basically just The Stepford Wives with racism instead of sexism), but I really didn't like Us. A lot of people say it's great if you just shut your brain off and ignore the nonsense, but the movie presented so many details and explanations that didn't make a lick of sense that I couldn't get past how plothole-ridden it is.
Get Out was the better plot, while Us was better with cinematography, but both movies are mediocre final products of what started off as good ideas for horror films.
get out.
Us was straight trash and so was nope
I have yet to see either yet, but _Nope_ was hands down the best movie of 2022 that I saw (sadly I missed out on Fabelmans), so I'm hoping both are pretty good...
They're both over rated AF. Its just movies are so bad now. Anything slightly better than OK is groundbreaking.
I completely agree. Peele is overrated. I really don't understand all the accolades.
Peeles movies are so damn overrated. Too me, he's just another "Shyamalan". He also made a mess out of The Twilight Zone...
Jordan Peele is overrated in my humble opinion. I don't understand all the accolades.
Facts!!!
Agreed
Haters that's so sad 😢!!!
Peele is like M Night; had a sleeper hit with Get Out. Us was okay. Nope was terrible. And he completely butchered Twilight Zone.
Neither are good.
I do like his style of movie making and many people might complain about the racial nature of it but then again humans are tribalistic and very racial and that's just the way it is. And many of the so-called enlightened Europeans made it that way.
Its ok, you can say you hate yt people, you're allowed.
@@DaveDuncanMusic yeah and you can say the same thing when it comes down to black people and also the truth may set you free but first it might just piss you off😉
@@grapeshot Sorry kid, Im not one of your yt American overlords. My people never enslaved your people, but your own people definitely did so go blame those really responsible for your misery and hateful attitude towards people you don't know. Tell your old friend Ray Siz'm that he isn't welcome here. Stay victimized breh.
Ah yes, tribalism was invented by Europeans, there's some highly accurate history for you...lmfao
@@Axolotl_Mischief yes it is. And they also made sure that they came the concept of certain races have the right to rule over others.
Both are overrated.
ahhh, the 2 movies that made me do what one should never do, crown a filmmaker with only 2 films to his credit as some wunderkind. These 2 movies had me so hyped for NOPE it wasn't funny, what WAS funny was how shocked I was at what pure drivel garbage NOPE was. I hated that movie with a passion unfiltered. Biggest disappointment in a decade. RElearned my lesson quick. When they have a good 6-10 films in their catalog THEN you may can crown them a film king. Until then, just watch and wait and see if the promise and potential is really there for the long run.
I been trying to see nope but it doesn't call my attention. I loved get out, and took awhile to like us and I did. But not nope 😑 maybe I will like it who knows
Both overrated
Get Out was great. Everything else he has made is mediocre. People are very easily impressed and blinded by race.
Did not like either of these movies. In my opinion, Jordan Peele is overrated.
Both of them are race baiting films. I'll pass, thanks.
My thoughts on this particular contest, HOW BOUT NEITHER OF THEM?
If Get Out has a 90% score, Us would be a 70% while Nope would get a 30%
Nope is pretty damn good
@@Skittenmeow Nope it wasn't.
