Seasons 19 - A How To Guide - Adding Seasons to an Existing Save

- Officially from Realismus they do not advise adding seasons to an existing save game as it can cause some unintended consequences.
In reality folks do this and will want to know what are the biggest things to expect or plan for in doing so. Just remember when you do this you do it on your own and it might take up to a year of game play to balance things out.

Thanks mate, seasons looks fantastic, love the changes, can't wait for this to come to console.
@Alex Petrica hi, if you're on PC, I don't know sorry, I'm on console and still waiting for seasons.
Solid work. Although now a bit old, the video remains very relevant especially for new console players. Something I see that was omitted was the maintainance and repair when importing an existing game. FS19 Seasons does EARLY advanced calculation when regarding vehicles and tools based on OPERATING HOURS and REDUCES their condition as it applies the mod coding accordingly regardless of its existing state of repair when imported. This is somewhat of a pitfall and "glitch" of the mod. What this means is a player can have an ENORMOUS upfront repair cost, not related to repainting which separated. If a gamer successfully imports a long play save (more than 100+ hours) the cost can be in HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars.
The three chickens survived by eating the others but sadly died of salmonella.
Great video again Farmer Klein ..ta!
Was interesting to see a full year "played out" ..cool
(Ps. How do u get time to answer all the questions and posts! ..please don't answer this u need ur time!)
Thank you for your viedos and advice
Hope someone makes a mod for specific field rotation planner system
I know that there some maps that you can play with Seasons without too many problems, but to be honest, I just want to wait until we have maps that are properly adapted for Seasons. I'm actually quite dissapointed than none were released today which I was expecting.
The test team was very small. An extremely small number of map makers had access prior to today. Yes there was some info on how to setup the mask but any good author will want to wait to test before submitting.
Hi Farmer Klein, I had taken a lengthy stay from the game and am just bringing it back to the table, I've yet to start any games as I've been busy watching and studding your videos. there is still a bit of confusion though. With seasons is there any value or point at all in raising animals? Also in your grass/hay/moisture video, would using a water truck or irrigation system during a dry sell work for keeping the grass wet?
Thanks
there is no concept of adding moisture aside from natural rainfall. irrigation mods spray liquid fertilizer as there is no concept of spraying water on things to have any sort of affect. We are farmers who are at the mercy of mother nature for our irrigation. On the animals yes they can be very profitable just not instantly like in base game or in 17. Over the period of a year you can easily double your money on any number of beef cattle. Milk producers will take longer to start earning you money but they have a huge profit potential over time as they reproduce and therefor you can get more milk over the years as female cows grow and reproduce themselves and start producing milk or on the off chance you get a male bull you can raise it for beef and sell it at total profit as you didn't pay a dime for it. Pigs you can buy small and cheap and sell for fairly good profits but again it will take a bit of time. Wool giving sheep and egg laying chickens are about the only ones that provide profit right away but their profits are smaller as a result also.
It’s very interesting isn’t it the game tries to be this I’m realistic but can’t give a a water sprayer to moisten our fields if they are dry. A half effort here.
@@smacleanandgreen3918 Seems as though it would make more sense to have irrigation trucks replacing lime spreaders.
Does adding seasons get rid of any bales, loose silage or other piles once added on a non seasons game eg if I’ve done put silage will it get rid of that or can I feed my cows with it straight away
If the silage is in the pit or in a silo(hay, grass, straw) wit will remain in your silo. Any grass bale or unwrapped bale will deteriorate if not kept inside.
A big note for any1 that still dosent fully understand if u can play without the crop planner as the first time i listened to it i was very confused. The crop planner are just there so that u can se in what order u might wanna plant your crop to get bonus yield from it. U can NOT in any way avoid this yield increase or decrese if u are playing with seasons active. Again it is just there so that u can plan ahead and se what crop is beneficial to plant after a certain other crop.
Well said, there are plenty of things in seasons for 19 that are outside the players control like crop damage due to dry weather also.
@@FarmerKlein Yeah i got a small hit with that as it was a very dry first year and hade to risk planting in a sub optimal weather. I got to keep most but there were some spots that dident germinate.
What running mod are you using? Downloaded one after seeing your video and I got stuck at 20x running all the time.
I have enabled the -cheats command which causes the guy to run fast. I use those commands to setup things for map and mod testing. I dont know what speed he runs at.
Man, i´m having a hard time trying to understand this crop rotation system. I hope they explain it throughly upon the release of the manual, or maybe someone could make a video. I still don´t get those cycles in the menu, i mean the first line of Rotation 1 for example is what we are going to plant or is it our previous field status? for how long do we have to keep a field fallow? an entire year? a season transition? and how do we double check if we are really getting a bonus or a penalty, to see if we are doing things right, for example. I think there´s room for improvement in that area.
Each row is a plant/harvest cycle and each column is a rotation so up to 4 rotations can be mapped out on the screen. to break it down each row can be thought of as a year. so the first row first column would be what you want to plant in a field year 1, the second row is what you want to plant next year, third, etc. You do not have to map out all 6 years rotation you could just map out 3 or 2 or any number. when the rotation reaches a NONE value it starts from the top again. so lets say you have CORN, Fallow, Soybeans, Corn in your rotation. the values you see to the right of each entry represent the bonus or penalty as a result of the previous two crop plantings. Ignore the value for the first corn entry as it wont take affect until the rotation repeats. so year 1 you plant corn on that field. year 2 you plant nothing. year 3 you do soybeans and year 4 you do corn. since this is the end of the rotation year 5 you put on corn again thus a double crop of corn in this example which should net a penalty when you start the rotation again in this example. you can chose to ignore the rotation planner. Seasons will base the yield results on the rotation calculations in the mod but you don't have to plan anything if you don't want.
@@FarmerKlein thanks for sharing this, FK. I will test it out. Cheers
I downloaded it but it wouldn’t work. Anyone know why?
Hello good morning Good day I would like to ask you the name of the map and whether this map can be downloaded or made by myself because I like it a lot!
Thank you in advance for another great game.
Black mountain Montana. I did a first impression on it and a play series a while back. I forget where it was uploaded
The bar you kept referring to as the health of the horses is for their training level.
Right but if that gets to 0 they die even if they have food and water.
I'm having issues with seasons I play on Xbox and every time I play with seasons on and I try to save my game the just seems to get stuck in save the red circle just keeps going round and round and never saves and in the end I have to just go back to my home screen however if I don't use seasons it's fine 🤔
im sorry I do not know as I play on PC
@@FarmerKlein no worries thanks
If I have no animals is there going to be any other problem's whit the game
When I use sesons there are no pedestrians
Where would I find those water pumps you used on the animal troughs?
In the animal pen section of the shop menu.
You need the seasons mod also.
It would be ok to bring seasons into an existing save game that has all the fields cultivated and it shouldn’t hurt anything, correct?
As long as there are no growing crops or planted crops it should be fine. Be sure to have ample food for any animals that might be owned.
I have a question for anyone who may know the answer. I’m playing on console I started seasons on a game I had already saved and I have 200 Yorkshire (F) pigs that I already had before I started seasons. I’m on day 7 and they have not reproduced one bit and my next animal in says “-“ is this a glitch and does anyone know how to fix it?
Your animals reset. Fairly sure I mentioned this in the video your best served in selling all the animals on an existing save before you activate seasons. As far as seasons is concerned you purchased them right after you activated seasons. They would have a starting weight as if you have only owned them for 7 days. I do not recall if Yorkshire are reproducing pigs or are growing pigs only. If they are reproducing then you need to wait for them to be artificially inseminated and then the appropriate gestation period.
Farmer Klein You did I missed it somehow lol thanks for the help! I waited out a few more days and some started showing a next animal time
On my new game, I don't think the place anywhere option for seasons is active. Can you tell me how to check ? Thanks.
I did the seasons update right after starting this game.
Seasons wouldn't turn place anywhere off. Other mods might but not seasons. I use them both with no issues since pre release testing
Thanks you are truly a resource.
How do you use command for adding snow ? For some reason, rmAddSnow 1 doesnt work
I believe you have to have the -cheats enabled in your game command line. just put -cheats on the end of the command line that starts the game.
@@FarmerKlein Thank you. It works. Just wanted to test out some things
Command dont work to me too
@@Auri713Real Open steam, find Farming Sim, right click on it, properties, set lunch options, and paste this "-cheats" without quotes
@@TheHrt5 ok thx
Can you fatten up animals with seasons turn off or does seasons have to remain on?
There are other animal breed mods that emulate various kinds of cattle but seasons is the only one that has incorporated actual weight gain and age. Others just turn off milk for beef cattle as an example.
Ok thank you. I wish they would and I’d pay 300 usd for the one who makes a westbridge hills map for console. Ughh
What happens if you add seasons to an existing game, then after a few saves, you decide to remove it? Would it mess anything up?
The save would be in the same condition it was with seasons activated. crop growth the same grass the same, etc. Trees would be back to normal. If you have things tip to ground you might want to collect them all before you do this or some things might change. IE snow might become potatos on the ground or semidry grass might become lime or fertilizer. but this less due to seasons and more as a result of the base game not fixing the index values for the height types when the save is created
@@FarmerKlein
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! So it would probably be best not to revert to base game until after the winter months to avoid having loose snow turn into random stuff? Ok, cool! I can't wait to try out seasons!
Also, great videos! They're really helpful!
I love seasons, but it is a shame that you cant breed horses. the livery idea is nice, since it quite different. but it would be nice to be able to breed horses as well. It would probably we quite hard to implement, given how horses work in the base game.
It could be quite cool to be able to choose between, being a horse care taker (getting horses for free but having to do all the care taking for a livery fee.) and being a horse breeder, having to buy the horses at a very steep initial price, but getting the income from selling bred horses.
How do you how do you prompt up the seasons menu can't find it

how do you disable season mod
just deactivate it from your mod selection and its gone
Would I be stupid in asking what this seasons mod is all about until today I have never heard of it?
It's a mod that adds a great deal of realism into the game and requires planning and strategy to succeed.

@@Brodrick32 nah mate busy at work so not had time to look into new mods
It changes just about every aspect of the game. I would suggest starting at the first video in the seasons 19 playlist on the channel. It will summarize the mod fairly well I think. It is alot to get your head around for sure. but it changes the game from wash, rinse and repeat to emulating an annual weather cycle where you do specific farm tasks at specific times of year. no more plant today harvest tomorrow and replant, etc.
Is Seasons compatible with multiplayer?
im try to change the days to 24 but it keep it on 9 days
yes
you change it at the gear tab on the right. its not changing to 24 after setting it? look back at the forcast to see the change.
@@FarmerKlein i try to set it to 24 an then i go look at the calendar and it only goes to 8 days?
