Getting my first pair of cycling shoes đŸšČ 1st time climbing Mount Faber vlog

  • You guys told me to get cycling shoes and here I am!!! After building my first road bike, your girl is getting her first pair of Bont Cycling shoes đŸ™ŒđŸ» Of course, I had to go for a ride the next morning and conquer Mount Faber in Singapore! It was surprisingly doable. I can't believe the only time I actually fell was when I was on my way home and it was just at a traffic light when I wasn't sure if I should go or stop (because I knew the lights would be orange soon) and the hesitation resulted in me falling to the right side :')
Lesson learned. Just commit to it and don't hesitate lol.

Hot tip! Always unclip one foot before coming to a full stop. Idea is to have one foot ready to plant on the ground while coasting to a stop. This will end your anxiety of using clipless pedals and put an end to falling over.

  • @DavosPessos
    @DavosPessos Pƙed 2 lety +10

Ok one thing the bike shop forgot to tell you is that when you starting out as a beginner to clipless, back off some of the cleat tension on the pedals that way you can get in/out of them easily. As confidence/ muscle memory (from having to swing foot outwards to unclip) and experience grows then you can do up the tension to a point that is ideal for you.... it will save your knees and ( pride ) 😁😁 besides unless you going racing or you in the pro leagues you donr need the tension done up mega tight!! We on open, live roads you need some degree of getting out your pedals if emergency crops upâ˜đŸŸ

New to your channel. Just saw how you pedal with the cleats, don’t tip toe. Your foot while pedalling should be flat to stretch your hamstring and to avoid cramps while riding. And I tell you, you don’t wanna get cramps when your legs are tired.

You did great. You chose the right shoe in 39 that fits-he was right fit is everything. Look pedals are a great choice as they have a lot of surface area and they have been around forever with their 3 point cleats and pedals-easy to replace and upgrade. Please practice going hard and stopping fast to get out of pedals ASAP. You look very cute in white too!

Hello! I am from melbourne and I have watched your 2 videos on cycling and they are great. I cant wait to bring my bike over to singapore!
Btw i think your saddle can be raised slightly higher (1-3cm) for better pedalling efficiency. If you if feel like your feet are far from the ground (happens with smaller riders) you can always lean the bike towards the unclipped foot to get off

These shoes work with the Peloton bike+ (April 2022), czcams.com/users/postUgkxGPkov2mNjgZfG33r6Bwvies8jKE4AKZB and are of good enough quality. I have completed 10 rides so far and there are no issues. The first time trying to fit them on the Peloton bike took 10 minutes (even with the help of an experienced cyclist friend who wears the same type of cleats). It took a couple of rides to break in. After the first two rides there were no issues at all.

Before I went on the road I jammed my bike between the wall and the kitchen table.

Unless you’re a pro or recommended by a bike fitter, it will cause knee issues. Also surprised he didn’t measure your feet. Nice shoes and brand though!!!! Keep riding!!!! No bandaid on that wound. Clean it, apply some Neosporin and just let it dry. The bandaid will make it moist n will take longer to heal. You want to keep it dry. It'll become moist during recovery but eventually will dry out and that's where it'll be fun to pick on the scab when it heals!

    Nice!! Go Girl!! đŸ‘đŸ‘â€â€.
Cyclists tend to dress in very bright, loud colors, stripes, patches many different colors. This is for SAFETY not fashion. Of course, it becomes a cycling fashion. I also will dress in LOUD colors to draw attention of drivers. I suggest you change your white shirt to something brighter, louder. It better reflects your sunny positive personality also. Avoid drab colors, grey, light brown... drivers don't notice you until they are very close. SAFETY First.
Serious cyclists wear cycling sun glasses. Not just to protect from sun but also from dust and dirt thrown out by bus, construction trucks, trailers .... wheels. Once, I was hit in the eye by a small stone churn up from a truck's wheels. Hurt like hell and almost crash on busy street. Could hardly see. So make sure you wear sun glasses.
Cycling sun glasses are special. Typically, they allow you to change the glasses to darker, lighter depending on conditions ie. they come with a few pairs of different inter-changeable glasses/shades. They usually have an offset from your nose bridge. Ie. there is a 5-8mm gap from your nose bridge and also face. This is to provide ventilation and prevent fogging of lenses. Some glasses have small cutouts on the top of the lens for this purpose also. Others like Adidas have adjustable nose bridges/ear rests to adjust how and the angle the glasses sit on your face. Prescription lenses/inserts are also available. Ie. perfect vision on the road.
The expensive ones usually provide a sweat strip attached above the frame just above the eye brows to absorb the dripping sweat from your forehead. Also, cycling glasses tend to have larger lenses to prevent sunlight hitting your eyes when you are fully lowered ie hands on the drops. And the lenses will wrap around to the side of the face to prevent sunlight coming from the sides. Google:
Prescription Adidas Running & Bicycling Sunglasses
Decathlon Cat 0 + 3 Interchangeable Cross-Country Mountain Bike Glasses Pack - Black
HUBO SPORTS Cycling Glasses, TR90 Unbreakable Frame Polarized Sports Sunglasses, Bike Glasses for Men Women with 5 Interchangeable Lens, Anti-UV400 for Driving Fishing Glof Baseball Running Hiking

Well congrats! you had your first crash while being clipped in. Usually it takes 1 crash to get your brain trained to remember that you're clipped in and need to twist instead of just pull
    :)

Oh, and if you're finding that the road bike cleat system are just too hard to get off from, SPD system for MTB (as opposed to SPD-SL for road) are much easier to get out from and also easier to walk on, but you're also gonna need new shoes and pedals

Maybe lower the seat height, or adjust the fore/aft cleat position. Your toes look like they point down more than usual... that is, unless that's comfortable for you.
