- Oh man! I am extremely nervous uploading this video. This is a huge deal for me because it's a massive step I'm taking toward turning my dream into reality. Embarking on an entrepreneurial journey as a startup founder is never easy, especially when the company is in its infancy stage without product-market fit (yet) and the macroeconomic environment isn't favourable. However, I know that there's nothing I can't achieve once I've set my eyes on something. It's just a matter of time, persistence, and overcoming the inevitable low moments here and there.
I'm really excited to share this new chapter with you all because you've seen me grow up here on CZcams for the last 10 years. I've been through some serious ups and downs already, and we've always made it through and came out of it stronger. This will be no different!

Congratulations! I started an ICT company in Australia in 2018. First child, fresh out of government, scary! It was challenging but also so exciting! The amount of personal growth you experience during the journey is simply stunning and I am so thank that I took the plunge. I'm not going to lie, it is not easy and is extremely stressful at times. But there is a feeling of indendance and a sense of unterthering yourself from the norm that can't be denied. My company here is forntunately a success story and ironically we have just finalised our expansion to Singapore, I land Wednesday on EP pass!!! I wish you all the best and can only give the advice, don't give up! Even if this idea isn't as successful as you would like, keep going, you will make it if you can be humble, learn from you r mistakes and push through the challenges. Mistakes are how we learn, embrass them :)

If I could ask, as Canadian how do you extend your residency in Singapore? or are you still working with firm you work for and establishing the startup on your personal side... I'm not Singaporean myself so I don't really know the laws for incorporating a foreign company in Singapore...vaguely I know that it's really easy to start a legal business as a foreigner but when it comes to residency, a huge capital would be needed if you're also going to live there on that basis...sorry if these questions may not be appropriate, you can just ignore if you don't feel like to answer them..

Since you're still thinking about how you might want to enter the creator market, I figured I'll throw in my 2 cents (that you can totally feel free to ignore as n=1 is not validation lol). I've always wanted to be a youtuber growing up, inspired by funny youtubers like nigahiga or kevjumba as a fellow asian, but never took the plunge. I went the "safe" route of pursuing degrees in science/business instead and tried to make videos as a hobby. I made a few for a facebook group called SAD (iykyk), and I absolutely enjoyed doing them, but after those experiences I don't think I belong in front or behind a camera LOL.
I would however still like to become a youtube video writer or something, as (1) that would still let me be involved creatively in filmmaking, and (2) I don't really have the time or skill to make videos myself. My hypothesis is that there are other people like me out there that would love to be involved with content creation, but the barrier to entry is way too high. Being a successful youtuber and having to release content every day or every week is not as easy as it looks, and a lot of youtubers (including nigahiga!) suffer from burnout. This is even more so for those in comedy, skits, etc.
What I wish existed was a more "communal" or "teamwork" approach to content creation. For example, I could write a script, somebody else could produce the video if they like it, and somebody else could even edit it on top. And the youtube monetization economy would pay all of us in some way or form. I think it would prevent a lot of burnout yet keep creativity and content creation at a more advanced level.
Unfortunately I feel like on youtube these days, comedy is a dying art form losing out to gaming, vlogging, or other kinds of mass-producible content. So maybe there is no space in the market left for a product like this. The only idea I could think of is Shots Studio as a company who helped content creators on youtube including Anwar Jibawi, Rudy Mancuso, Lele Pons and Hannah Stocking. Honestly maybe you don't have to go very big, maybe you could just help a few youtubers become successful like a studio coach and that might be enough to run a business :')

Nigahiga, Kevjumba, Wongfu were all my fav youtubers growing up too. I have so much respect for all creators & especially in the comedy/skit/short films category. Coming up with creative and fun content ideas is incredibly difficult because you need to constantly source for video ideas and inspiration.
You make a very good (and true) point: Content creation on a regular basis is incredibly tiring becuase doing everything from end-to-end is a huge commitment, especially when most of these creators start off as a one man band.
The communal aspect of creating content together sounds awesome. It's essentially crowdsourcing effort/time/resources from the community to produce something jointly and to share the profits/rewards afterwards. Shoot me a DM on Instagram! Would love to hear more about your thoughts :)

Completely depends on your industry and whether your employer is willing to pay the extra money to hire a foreigner if the job can be done by a local.

I'm not a PR! I'll definitely look into grants down the line, but from what I know (please take with a grain of salt and do research!), a lot of government grants require at least 30-50% of the shareholders to be citizens or PRs so I don't qualify for them.
I'll do my best to document this journey as I navigate it so hopefully it'll help!
Start up other then needing funds, the other would b courage and time. Finding gd partners is important too

Stay humble. I watch your videos for two reasons, you are in Singapore and you are excited about what you do and it shows. Some videos I skip through, but the biking, running, travel videos I watch mostly from beginning to end. At the end of the day, you probably are not going to care too much about what I have to say, so keep plugging away. Have fun and enjoy.

It's a pity that you didn't pursuit the career in the medical profession. The demand is high in Hong Kong and overseas. Unless you're not qualified, the successful rate is 70-80% with the career. But being an entrepreneur, the successful rate falls to less than 50%. Anyhow, good luck.
