This is it - the mod that forever opened my eyes to the world of Total War and Medieval 2 modding. Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod is so fantastic due to its simplicity, yet its offering great scope - it is essentially the vanilla game, but includes the Kingdoms expansions innovations and factions, all on a much larger map of the world. Contrary to many other mods out there, the fact that faction symbols, units, and music remain from the vanilla game keeps that original charm and nostalgia even more alive than other total conversion mods, and I think that speaks to the power of what Medieval 2 originally offered. I love my grand total conversion mods of course, but there's something uniquely special about an experience that seeks to simply upgrade and expand on what was already there, in order to create a pure, distilled and truly grand campaign in the vision of the Kingdoms expansion.
Have you played this mod yet? Let me know your thoughts on the Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod and this video in the comments, and remember to leave a like and subscribe to the channel! :)

I think this is what I always wanted. Thanks for the video
My pleasure! :)
This and Tsardoms reignited my love for Medieval 2
If there is any medieval 2 remaster coming (which I doubt) I would pretty much ask the developers to add this as a grand campaign map or as a second campaign. For me this is the default vanilla Kingdoms grand campaign that every one should atleast try.
There is a warhammer game coming (again) but after that M3tw is next on the list (coming from legend of total war youtube channel)
Did he mention it on his channel .. could you refer me to the video?@@DP-it7zm
You lost me at “a lot more cities to conquer and manage”. Why almost every single overhaul mod is obsessed with that idea that more conquering and managing is more better is beyond me.
Some people love to micromanage and play traffic cop.
when are you going to understand this guy likes to hype everything for views?
There are auto-manage option tho😅
Fuck man. Its almost like Total War is about conquering and managing your kingdom/caliph/empire.
Um because it’s weird that there’s only like 4 cities in all of France??
this video has hyped me up for medieval 2 remastered (if it ever releases)
Man I feel you but we need a Medieval 3 even more 😭
@@DarthLevicor i agree
Chivalry Remastered mod for Rome Remastered is the best medieval remaster right now.
@@DarthLevicor Do you ACTUALLY expect CA to not F it up?
@@jaywerner8415Honestly no lol
This is actually what I've always wanted. A campaign that improves on vanilla, while not drastically changing it. I always disliked how there were great swathes of empty land in various parts of the map, but it looks like this actually adds important settlements (one example being Sinope). Every other point you've hit the nail on the head.
You may enjoy total vanilla beyond more though because this mod has a garrison script, meaning it adds full garrison to settlements you besiege. It’s more hardcore comparatively.
@@nofearofwater Certainly won't complain about that!
I love this mod. Its simplicity and vanilla Style makes me enjoy creating lore to my own games, which I always find unique
I love the vanilla style too, you *almost* play the Britannia campaign as its very own campaign, but on this larger map. It’s fantastic!
Mods make these games come alive. Even the good versions get better with mods.
Absolutely my friend!
I always wait for the mods. Right now I am playing Age of Bronze with Rome 2 and it is not finished yet so sweet. Andy turned me on to that one as well. The only quibble is that I have so many mods to play and the game play models look so old. Please remaster Medieval II CA and/or even better Medieval 3 please... In My Lifetime... am 60 years old now. LOL.
I will take either a Medieval 3 or a Medieval 2 remastered. Given recent CA offerings I almost would prefer the remastered Medieval 2. It has incredible potential.
Thanks for this video. Definitely going to give this mod a go.
ALOT more cities to conquer and MANAGE.....At this point, I stopped the video. Don't get me wrong, Medieval 2 Total War is the 2nd best TW title I have ever played. Second only to the 2004 Rome TW and I still played it as recently as 2022 and will go back to it in 2024 but lets be honest here: ALOT MORE CITIES TO MANAGE becomes a grind when your empire expands significantly.
Now some people like the grind and that is fine, but grinding for grinding sake is not what makes a game better, in my opinion. Anyhow, I'll check out the rest of the channel and thanks for the video.
There is an almost identical mod called Vanilla Kingdoms 2023, with even more vanilla style but all Kingdoms factions, units and buildings in grand campaign too. Absolutely recommended.
Edit: as far as I see Vanilla Kingdoms map is smaller, it only adds a few extra cities in the Grand campaing to fit the other factions.
yup, to my knowledge it also adds new city models a la stainless steel (maybe even new music) which in my opinion makes it a big no-no for a vanilla-style campaign
Looks good, but did they solve the diplomacy bug where taking control of a new region makes everyone hate you more, and the 2 handed weapon bug ?
Hmmm don’t know?
@@AndysTakeyou're such A CZcamsr clown, you call yourself total war veteran and dont even know anything, not even the 2 handed bug and that it is fixed in the Kingdoms version of the game. What a absolute rat.
Is there anyway to disable the garrison feature? Whenever I sieged a city, a invisible garrision would appear making it rather decieving
edit: garrison script is a bit sketchy, doesn't work well imo
wow... today o learned that "hotseat campaing" was a thing...
Today?! Wow! :O
@@AndysTake i been looking for mods that would let me play two factions never knew that was a thing in mediva :Dl
@@boricns it only came with kingdoms and then they never implemented it ever again… saddest things in the universe
In the teutonic campaign you can use hotseating to play two factions yourself at the same time... (havent tried it with other kingdom campaigns
Do you really want a medieval 2 Remastered or medieval 3 ? I think med2 being settled and not getting a remaster is a better sendoff because modders are keeping it alive and well, plus it's not old to a fault like Rome 1 is, though don't chop me for saying that, I love Rome 1.
Anyway, I hope you get my point.
I'm sold on the mod btw it sounds like a great thing to get into before I prepare myself for stainless steel.
Medieval 2 Remastered personally, the modding potential is immense!
@@AndysTake oh yeah, thing is I trust modders, I don't really trust CA to do a good remaster, like Rome 1s art remaster being good and having enhanced modding support is more a stroke of luck, at least in my opinion, a lot off things have to align properly including a lot of very specific and talented people for a remaster to actually end up turning out a way that it's community likes. And even than you have to pray for it to get of the oven, as was with some of Rome 1 remasters short coming.
And once it's out the oven extended support for it slows down and wed be lucky to get anything fixed before the ship sales, all the internal conflicts devs have with management to fix one more thing before time runs out, though developers like that are an uncommon blessing instead of a norm.
I would already be super happy with an AI remaster. Especially modded late game castle sieges could be so epic if the AI wouldn't be so stupid
@@DoomTobi A high quality texture upscale is possible from the community, well, AI method is also possible but what I'm talking about is tools that use graphics cards to upscale work.
Would need some setup, like finding someone who owns a powerful GPU for better results.
We need a remaster because of better battle controls, camera, the lift on the hardcodded limit to factions as an example and the increase on the campaign map size too
There are also game breaking bugs like diplomacy bug penalty, dead factions penalty and 2 handed bug.
playing as 2 or more factions sounds brilliant
Does this mod fix the misc vanilla bugs? (Pike, 2-h animation, constant diplomatic malus, etc)
Might do, you’re free to try it!
Funnily enough, a lot of these features were already integrated by the Schwert und Speer mod, way back in 2011 (or somewhere around there).
Return? I never left
arre there custom cities maps ?
Any tips on how to play this mod if you have M2TW on Mac Steam?
I personally don’t know if mods work on Mac, you’d have to check for the answers sadly!
Here's a tip, buy a PC! Mac's are for hipsters.
What is the difference between this and total vanilla?
Oh yeah i remember hotseat campaign solo with 4 factions insanely fun me vs ai. But i wouldn't trade it with scripted solo campaign though if it enhances my gameplay enjoyment and I'm quite confident that in the last 5 years i played a lot of DaC and its sub mods than any of the historical Med 2 mods combined.
I'm also guessing that in this year I'm going to play Med 2 and Kenshi again lets see if i manage to get another 1000 hours by the end of the year with both of those games.
What about Timurids?Does the mod include Timurid Invasion
Nice video. Thanks Andy! While I'm here, Hey CA if any of your staff are watching this channel, answer me this? Why do you hate money? A remastered Med 2 with full 8 player multiplayer campaign support would sell like hotcakes. Do you not have the programming skill to emulate an engine over the top of the core unit? Shame. It would not be hard or take much work. £20 retail on Steam. Full Steam mod access. 100 Thousand + copies sold right there.
A medieval 2 remaster with multiplayer campaign 😩😭 I’d buy 10 copies and play forever
Yeah but have they fixed the camera movement speed?
It is glorious
You said it!
Honestly the thing that stops me from coming back to these older titles are the control schemes. After playing so much of Rome 2 and the Warhammer trilogy it's very hard to go back to no WASD, janky camera and meh unit control. The modern stuff has it's issues but it just feels more fluid imo. It's a shame because I'd love it. Rome 1 was my first and I adored that game. Sometimes wish I'd experienced Medieval 2 before the more modern stuff.
You can easy play with WASD in med 2 by swithcing controll scheme top "FPS Style" and use the mod Freecam to get a beatifull and smooth camera experience in battles. Makes it much more playable
You can change your key bindings lol
How do you have such a nice graphic definition ? Is that re-shade ?
I have a very new computer andstill definition is not as good as yours
This or Vanilla Beyond?
My med 2 crashes intermittently ?
I wonder if the Ai is not stupid.
How you can play versus yourself? Autoresolve I wonder.
I think all battles in "hotseat:" are auto resolved
you can't play both sides versus yourself, but you can play offensive battles and defensive battles versus the AI!
Than you guys! My brother will love this
@@Josuegurrola great! Just look up how to defend, because if you wanna do that you’ll have to change a like in the config, it’s not hard :)
Can I ask for a link to this mod?
It is smack down right there in the description
Name of thé modd??
Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod!
Interesting mod. I think I'll start with Stainless Steel though. When I figure out how to get it in 2024.
BTW, your background music has a really confusing effect combined with your speech cadence. Especially in the beginning of the video.
Video Starts here 2:37
Well, Stainless Steel 6.4 in bigger, I guess.
I can't play medieval 2 graphics are to old
noice!
No Bulgaria?
Nope, i am done. Nothing will bring me back.
Hope content again?
There is always hope
Deus lo vult where?
if only fn CA did this instead of just making you start with 2 empty provinces lol
Medieval II The Best Total War Game Ever...!
Sad... 🫣
Super flat campaign maps that mods use irk me.
Shame you can't rename your factions
Leaving this comment before I even watch the video - NO IT WILL NOT! That is how confident I am! Total War has been dead since Shogun 2. This zombie you and channels like yours are parading around by covering mods with clickbait video titles is not gonna change that fact.
First
dont forget to pray fo the children of palestine they are suffering from a total war .....reallyy
Bots are cool.
@@zacharymadtson6224 say that to israeli bots ......do bots play medieval 2 & participate in crusades? becqause i doo.....
Every video this guy he sound like the soyjack pointing at OMG CURRENT COOL THING PLEASE GIVE ME MONEYRINOS
Every video people like you comment the most fasc coded shit I’ve ever seen, and in your case, don’t even realize that this mod is over a decade old, not a “current cool thing” and that I’m genuinely excited to show it off to people who have no idea it exists. So cope harder, loser.
bruh this man is posting about total war in our lords year 2024, he is not in it for the “moneyrinos” lmao
Oh look a 4chan cringe incel. Good luck with your pointless existence.
