IMO Thrones of Decay sets the new standard for DLC's. By far the best one in a while. Malakai in particular is extremely cool - I might do Artillery Only with him relatively soon.
High Elf Melee Only / Forcing Elves to Fight Like Men should be dropping within the next 10 days as well! The drought is over and I've set some things up to allow myself to make videos faster in the future.

Malakai is the only Dwarf to ever look at the slayer oath and go "doesn't say I can't just shoot everything before they get close enough no does it."

Malakai isn’t OP he’s just smart enough to use a gun, and if that doesn’t work… he uses more gun!
For the rare cases where that doesn't work either, he uses a big friggin gun. With axeblades.

On the grapeshot cannons: No, the rune of burning is not why they are overpowered. They are overpowered because they are REALLY overpowered. That Ammo train mission was hard carried for me with just the cannons. Single target the big stuff, and then when they tried to cross the bridge I switched to grapeshot and took out the entire army in about 2 or maybe 3 salvo's with 4 cannons.
Cannon adventure was the first adventure I took because it made the most sense objective-wise. I quit the campaign at turn 15. I was playing as aggressive as possible and was under no threat ever, it was the least challenging campaign I've ever tried. In most of the battles 90% of the enemies were dead from cannons by the time Spirit of Grugni was summonable.
At least with Ikit or Elspeth I felt like those upgrades got stronger over time so i got something to look forward to. With Malakai's cannons I didn't feel like playing anymore when at turn 7 I'm getting a doomstack. Maybe if I went Gyros i would've had more fun
The grape shot cannons were bugged with projectiles having 3 size instead of .3 like the empire does, in the latest hot fix they fix the cannons.

To be fair that's very faithful to the tabletop game. Cannons were always sort of bullshit.
I love how derpy autoresolve is, it looks at an army of mostly orc laborers against the fucking royal air force and is like best I can do is a valiant defeat.

The grapeshot on the cannons is one of the funniest things i've used in the game
Oh yeah and it's not just the rune of burning. They can do that kind of damage from turn 5 when you unlock the adventure and then never fall off.
Malakai was never a coward. He just thought the Slayer Oath was a relic of a different time and a symptom of the decline of the Dawi.
He took the Oath because he was forced to, but he never intended to follow through because he thought it was wrong for ANY Dawi to seek death. There's few enough of them already and he wanted them to grow with the times. Hence why he and Franz got along so well

One thing I learned, I believe it was from LegendOfTotalWar, is that spells like regen spells/abilities that are on a timer still trigger on the 0th second. So in actuality, you gyrocopters should be getting 30% extra hp since it heals 30% total from that adventure bonus.

Both Gotrek and Felix uses guns throughout their books so it still counts.
Gotrek and Felix plot armor so thick you can't even tell them to fuck off from your army.
Felix' plot armor eventually wares off though.

Having played this campaign myself a few times, the cannon doomstack is STUPIDLY OP. However, it's outpaced by the Thunderbarge doomstack. You literally cannot lose. Four full stacks of dragons? Ignored. Four full stacks of max level doomstacks of anything? It will win, handily.
Facts. I once sent around 6 of those things into a settlement and within moments of reaching firing range three enemy units were routing, another was half-dead, and the wall had been knocked down by complete accident. I didn’t even know their main guns could damage walls until then. Honestly, they could use a nerf, but you won’t see me complaining to CA about it.
The only weaknesses I can see from them are their cost, their autoresolve performance, and the fact they can’t land, which isn’t really that bad compared to their damage output. Honestly, all you really need are 3 or 4 before your army becomes nigh unstoppable.

No, that’s just kinda how the Grapeshot Cannons work. It’s balanced out by their value also usually coming from turning your own frontline into paste as well.
True, your front line is either hero's (which will get hit) or none at all..... cause if you had one, the cannons just fire "To who'm this may concern" volley's be it your front line, the enemy, and they have grudges against air in general too.
Props for using the Fodlan Winds theme towards the end. Really tied the whole ‘demolishing enemy armies with almost zero effort while listening to epic music’ thing together.

Lorewise it kinda makes sense that malakai, and by extension the other ranged slayers, use powerful guns, as the skayer oath states that you must die fighting a worthy foe, but you must do so by giving it your all and fighting your best, so if say a thunderer or artillery team had to take the oaths, their all would be turning the enemies into swiss cheese while hoping one is strong enough to endure and kill them

I have said it before and I will say it again. There is nothing in TWW that is as satisfying as watching any gun, cannon, artillery unit just mowe down enemies before they even get a hit off. There just nothing that can compare to watching a line of guns turn your enemies into mist.

As far as I remember you don't get all the remaining bonuses if you pre-emptively do the final battle of one adventure. You need to do all the small missions first. 🤔
That is indeed the case.
Note that those small missions don't go away, you can still complete them for the bonuses after doing the final battle.

4:04 the only downside for the airship encamp is that it doesn't provide ambush protection; however, an airship doomstack doesn't care late game about ambushes

18:25 this army was spawned by the khorne adventure, where you can either kill the champion of khorne or the other 3 champs, but yeah if you don't complete it or clear them they just vibe, probably the nicest chaos fellas out there

By the way for anyone curious the reason Malakai took the slayer oath is because he built a ship called the Unsinkable which sank on its first trip and a Thunderbarge called the Undestructible which exploded and a lot of lives were lost because of this. Also Gotrek doesn't like him much because despite his slayer oath he became a teacher in the main Nuln Gunnery School instead of charging head first into a trolls open mouth.

@@brentonherbert7775 I meant specifically Malakai and the way he can buff units in his campaign. Grapeshot for Cannons is something only he can do, and yes, it is *VERY* broken.
Fun fact, Malakai's adventure units have special effects different from normal units, the cannons have the "Dig in" abbility that increses their range if they stay still and the Thunderbarges have 0 upkeep for example
