your points seems valid, i am planning to move there keeping in high house price in GTA, but barrie is very challenign. how would be the future of new housing projects like Terra by greatgulf going to be build at mabpleview, and mapleview is very congested every evening as per your video.
I think that buying a resale is a better option right at the moment. The Pratt new builds have very small living areas and Mapleview is very congested. It seems that all the new builds have the garage built inside the main floor so the kitchens and living rooms are very small.
I love maple vew
Barrie is so overrated. I own a condo that is almost 40 years old and still it cost me $400000. All this money to live in a boring, medocre city.
Boring? Try Bradford. And still expensive AF.
If you want to live in Toronto because everywhere is boring, go for it you will pay in the long run and not only in money
Thoughts on the issues you highlighted (in order):
1) The weather isn't that bad. We've had a mild winter thus far, and summers are average at best.
2) Cottage country traffic is a seasonal issue, not year round. It's tolerable.
3) Tourists are only an issue on the waterfront, especially when they take all the parking spots. If anything, Barrie needs to follow Innisfil's lead and make waterfront parking resident-only.
4) Construction is a bit of a disaster, so I'll give you that. Barrie is constantly 20-30 years behind when it comes to addressing construction/infrastructure issues, and always has been. Overpaid City workers are seldom held accountable.
5) You can thank the previous administration of 12 years for that one, and anyone who votes Liberal or NDP.
Home-less issues are very serious now a day. There are also alot of City problems .....
This is definitely a problem. I offered to volunteer and help with it. And got no where with the city.
You forgot proximity to that toilet bowl known as Toronto.
Toronto is the best city on the planet. Deal with it, hater.
He's angry that he lives in Barrie
I love Barrie! đđđ
I love too â€â€â€
Omg thereâs so much worseâŠ..
Your right!
To all people who moved here from Toronto and elsewhere, it was a nice city before you arrived and will be great again after you leave, please go back to where ever you came from.
There wouldn't be a Barrie if it wasn't for commuters from Toronto.
@@jayman105 Barrie was here 100 years ago
@@JohnAnderson-sq8lt Toronto has been around 230 years, so what's your point? Barrie had a population of 50,000 in 1990, and now it has almost 150,000, mainly due to commuters.
Barrie is what's called a 'bedroom community' due to the number of people who work elsewhere.
When was Barrie good? Blame civilized people?
I moved here about 6 months and I hate it everyday. I live 2 km from Walmart and it takes me at least 45 mins to get there and 45 mins to come home. There 14 traffic lights and 10 stop signs to get home. I hate the weather, the schools, grocery stores and shopping malls. I still have no family doctor. The school my kids go sucksđź. The food is expensive compare to Toronto or Vaughan or Brampton. The food basics at 555 Essa rd sells garbage. Absolutely donât wast your time or money . I drive 1 hour to Woodbridge or Vaughan to get proper grocery because itâs hard to afford proper grocery here in Barrie. This city is not ready for more population.
I know there are certainly some challenges. The No Frills on Wellington has some bargains and I find their produce is pretty good. Loblaws is amazing on Bayfield. A bit pricey but their deli, bakery and meat is good! Back ways behind the main roads are the best ways to get around.
