    Great info.

If you put in the lease that the tenant must maintain the exterior of the property (grass and snow) it’s automatically void as it contradicts the RTA. Doesn’t matter that you put it in the lease. If you can’t follow the rules of being a landlord, don’t be one.

You obviously didn't watch the video. The judge ruled in favour of the landlord that it is in the lease and was tenants responsibility

I thought you have 24 hours after the last snowfall to clear the snow from the property??? So my snowplow guy doesn't need to show up at 6 am if hasn't been more than 24 hours since the last snowfall.

Well if they slip and fall on their way out of the house in the morning they can try and sue

This is beyond stupid, i can see this law making sense if it was a multi home building such as an apartment complex as its typically maintained by the owner. My rent pays for the maintenance so do condo fees. But a home or duplex? and the stairs?? thats beyond the pale. Tennants are beyond entitled and this is coming from a tenant who has dealt and deals with many slum lords.

The problem I have is my plow guy doesn't come till like 9am. How can you make sure it's always done?

@@dianeneto agreed, thats where clauses and what not are necessary i suppose. I believe the laws were put in place to keep slum lords in line, but have created a litigious combative environment between landlord and tenant.
Because honestly if i pay 900 a month in condo fees or 3000 a month for rent for a shoebox 1 bedroom and the way out of my building has 1ft of snow at 11am. I'm fuming, especially if the fees state snow removal is included.
