Rex exhibits more of a ARC trooper personality in terms of free thinking. Cody represents the pinnacle of what "average" clone troopers are meant to be. And in the last season of the clone wars, the playbook the Republic were using was drawn up by Rex and Echo. Rex's outside the box thinking is more valuable than someone who can regurgitate the manual at you. Plus Rex looks cooler lol
Commander Cody represents the Pinnacle of the average clone did you go rewatch Clone Wars the only way you think this is because you probably only remember the missions Rex goes on Rex goes on small reconnaissance missions Rex doesn't get into scrappy one on ones all out Wars rex and his squad get what they need and get out was cody takes on more of a clone commando role in a larger army he's the top of Arc Trooper graduates when it comes to arc Trooper training he's got reconnaissance down to a art form he can do surveillance he hand to hand you can do survival he can do full frontal assault he can do everything another reason you feel that Rex has an arc Trooper personality is one because he's always around three other arc Troopers throughout the whole series because there are three arc Troopers in his squad and that he had his inhibitor chip removed that's why he's so free thinking and if he was so free thinking and upstanding as a clone he would have helped the rest of them and when it comes to design I respect your opinion but cody shits on rex all day every day
I think it can be argued that Cody was the better tatician considering his ability to maintain point rain when all the other Jedi general were either unable to fight or seperated from the group.

Love this comparison, I feel like Rex would know how to play dirty to win if they had to fight to win. I think a bit of Anakin will have rubbed off on him to sway the odds. But even then, it would be close!

I think it's also important to remember that if it were to devolve into a close quarter fight there's no way Rex beats in Cody in hand to hand combat.
Cody would sit on Rex. We saw this in their fight against Slick. Rex isn’t as developed hand to hand combat as Cody is, we clearly see that throughout the whole series
Cody and Rex are like Yin and Yang and that’s how they took back the Rishi moon without needing the jedi
I'd say they are pretty balanced, they both have a lot of expierence. Maybe a very slight advantage for Cody?

@@asokatano9410 Which is weird because Cody is a generation 1 clone, same as Rex. And he's not just a Commander, he's the Marshal Commander. Outranks every other Commander due to that fact I believe.

Before watching the video I think it depends when you're talking about; probably would be the closest during The Clone Wars, & only get more in Cody's favor as you progress through the timeline

Cody was my favorite clone until The Clone Wars dropped. Rex is my favorite to date, but oddly enough, I can't pick one over the other.

I would guess Rex wins just based on Clone Wars and Rebels giving Rex a lot more development/feats to pull from. Cody was much more of a side character (despite being featured in the films and Clone Wars) than Rex (just featured in the Filoni projects, but as much more of a major character). Though I do wonder how jetpack play and standard weapons/equipment might factor into it

I'd have to say Rex. Cody seems a bit orthodox, while Rex is used to Anakin, and making dare i say perhaps playing a bit dirty
I think Rex would win in a fight against Cody because of Rex's out of the box thinking in a battle while Cody sticks to his standard clone programming in dealing with a situation so Rex would have the advantage of being able to win over Cody in a fight. Plus, in Episode 1 of the final season, while Cody did hear Rex out about Echo possibly being alive, he didn't actually consider the fact that it may be true even though Rex pointed out how the strategies the Separatists were using against to counter them in the battle of Anaxes were strategies him and Echo made and just told Rex that he was just having misplaced hope. This shows to me at least, that Cody wouldn't be able to win in a fight where both him and Rex have the opportunity to gain an advantage over one another by thinking outside the box because Cody wouldn't even consider an option such as that being possible even with proof that it actually can be accomplished being presented right in front of him. Great video and hope you're doing well with Theory Sabers & Vader Episode 2; would love to win a saber if given the chance in the next giveaway. I think the free thinker is more to do with the fact that rex is just more of a main character in TCW in general so we just get more of him as a character. As for tactics, Cody is definitely ahead on that. He's a marshall commander and would have led more larger battles whereas rex worked well in more infiltration and individual skill type missions. Cody feels like a commando whereas Rex is like an ARC trooper

I would really love to see you go back and remaster some of your older lore videos or even update them with new info, the channel and its content has seemed very budget and minimal as of recently.
Wish u gave actual battle scenarios that happened in books, comics, shows, and movies that would explain their hand to hand combat prowess and a search and destroy scenario that would lead to a battle of life and death. I mean like using actual evidence from lore

i think it woulda been cool to discuss them in two separate arenas kinda like the hunger games. One of them is actually just a 1v1 gladiator battle (with cover of course) with all of their normal gear. The other would be if they had a squad of like 12v12 or 50v50 and they had to go through like a battlefront style domination fight for a location. no respawns obvi lol

Rex has more experience because he’s been in the war for longer, he’s older than Cody canonically because he fought in geonosis 1 while Cody didnt

Rex, When you follow Anakin through out a war you would have way better and more diverse tickets. Also he would have been in way more battles because they used Anakin as a battering ram. He also took on a Jedi and won.

Clone Wars S1 E16 The Hidden Enemy. Slick almost single handedly kicked Cody's and Rex's butts. However between the two Cody held his own better in hand to hand combat while Rex got his leg broken when Slick put him in a leg lock. I disagree with the video H2H combat would have to go to Cody. It was also Cody who figured out Slick would be hiding in the vents, so we know Cody can also think on his feet. I agree that in a firefight Rex is better just because serving with Anakin he always finds himself in the middle of them and having to fight his way out. Rex is also better at improvising and getting creative again because he's developed this skill serving alongside Anakin, and that makes him very dangerous. BUT as the saying goes if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If Rex goes in just hoping to wing it against Cody he will lose. He needs to come up with a plan, unfortunately for him Cody is the better tactician.
In summary Rex's strengths in firefights and improvisation make him a dangerous opponent, however Cody is the master tactician he will take into account all of Rex's strengths and come up with plans and back up plans to defeat Rex. A smart soldier is a deadly soldier. Plus when all the chips are down Cody is the better H2H combatant.
Just my opinion guys but I think the logic behind it is sound.

Cody. The only thing I like about Rex is that he is 501st. Besides that, he is a goody two shoes version of Jango. In fact, I think he was a better character in the early seasons of Clone Wars than the latter. He went downhill in the later seasons and everything after.
What if Rey cut Kylo's mask off and Luke was Kylo the whole time. And Palps turns up saying "I have both Skywalkers in my command. Now what will you do JEDI"

Rex has far more character and we've seen far more of him, his tactics could throw Cody off with how unorthodox they are adopted from anakin.

Cody was much higher on a mental level. Higher ranked (grand Marshall ranking). Regarded as the best tactician in the republic, and helped them win many important battles with his unparalleled tactical abilities, even in dire situations with all the odds against him. I think he was better in combat, shown in a number of ways but one is where they were both fighting the traitor slick. Rex was struggling, Cody was not. Rex had a “street smart” sort of advantage. One example of that is when he quickly realized the droids were impersonating clones when he and Cody were sent to inspect a moon outpost. He saw the droid attack flare, immediately turned around and shot the droid. Cody didn’t pick up on it until rex told him to relax and then pulled off the clone helmet, revealing it was a droid. But, Cody was superior overall.
I agree with this. I love Rex but I think a lot of people let there bias opinion effect there judgment.

How is Cody more experienced if his experience is purely based on tactical strategies?? If Rex has been trained the same way as Cody but also has unorthodox tactics, it’s not going to Cody!! If I’m trained to shoot on one foot vs someone who’s trained on both, they’re going to have the experience because they’re used to more than one way of shooting
They have been trained the same but codey was more passoined about it. He put more effort himself into learning that's why he is better in that way

From what ive seen which is all the movies and animation shows in the skywalker era, they pretty much show imo rex has being the ultimate experienced fighter while cody has all the IQ and battlefield technique advantage, you give cody time to plan against rex, he wins. If its an instant fight combat scenario, rex all day
I'm not even a Rex fan but I think he would easily top Cody. Rex is an ARC trooper. Cody is just a commander. He is a reg. Specially trained and more independent, but still just a reg. Now Rex vs Bacara or Wolfe would be an interesting one.

@@rigby_rich3650 Rex underwent ARC training. He isn't a true ARC but a reg who underwent specialized training to make him more independent and combat capable.

Hmm good question Rex versus Cody it will come down to the wire!! But yes edges this one out! For one simple reason Anakin is a very completely unorthodox general and has an unorthodox fighting style and tactics! Kenobi was always by the book and his tactics and Cody are proof of that! Which means rex wins this by using unorthodox fighting styles and tactics and rex will use that to his advantage and exploit even the smallest weakness!
You should do Han and Chewy vs Boba.
If you feel like it’s a mismatch you can always use Legends. Han and Chewy become way better fighters there.
