    If you read Kristen Travvis's novelization of the lives of the Commandos, it paints a much better picture of Kal and Val. Kal loved his boys, and Val loved his just as much. While Val definitely was a lot harsher, as Geetsly said, he was because he wanted his boys to overcome anything. He was of the "Hard Love" type, and it showed. He really pushed his boys to the limit and then some, so they would never fail themselves. Most of the Cuy'val Dar really did love the clones, and had pity on them because they had no choice. Kal and Val wound up settling on Mandalore and wanted to care for all clones that crossed their path, regardless of what generation or rank they were.

    For anyone wondering, the Majority of the content spoken about in this video comes from Karen Travis' Republic Commando novels, which are, in my opinion, some of the GREATEST Star Wars content ever made, even with the series being left unfinished. Travis canceled the sixth and final book, much to the dismay of many fans, because Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 2 Episode 12 "The Mandalore Plot" was released, which featured quite a bit of content that contradicted with her writing in those books. It was a pretty big controversy at the time and many Mando'ade fans are still quite bitter over it. Personally I find both to be very enjoyable, but I prefer the legends content all the same.

    • @Ramseas119
      @Ramseas119 Pƙed 3 lety +10

      @@akumaking1 to a certain degree, yes. Planet and character names can be easily switched around to accommodate certain changes, but there are also some specific elements that don't mix well at all. For instance, inhibitor chips didn't exist in the legends content, and the majority of rank and file clones had almost no personality and individuality of any kind, due to how much more heavily the clones were indoctrinated in legends, and that ends up as a key story factor through the RC books, which would then fall apart when mixed with Canon.
      Long story short, it's completely possible to "recanonize" the content, but it would need a lot of revision and work to do so. My hope beyond hope is that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are already working on this for The Mandalorian show, but that's still pretty unlikely XD

      Wow one of the very few people who actually has read the Republic Commando Series. I think her version of Mandalore was way better with its broken war culture, unique language, and its large emphasis on living the warrior life. Obviously David Filion/Disney didn’t care to do their homework so just did their own thing not caring what preexisting material was no retconned out. Sad really, she practically made her own Mando language which is now forgotten.

It's said that they don't gender specific pronouns in their language like he, she, her or him, nor do they have a word for a word for hero in their language as well, but they have a bunch of words for coward.
      So their swear words could essentially be meant for those who go against their warrior and family centered ways, the jedi, sith, and hutts being examples of this.

    It's cool hearing about how jango was the top dog of the republic army. He had final say and overall rank over everyone in experience and reputation. I bet that contract is how the bounty hunter and merc community knew of jangos legendary status. He already was top dog before Dooku. But I imagine that once word got around about him being THE template for the army. He would of been untouchable and probably even feared by his colleagues. However he was quiet and spoke when needed. He never revealed much of how he was feeling. But in some rare moment you see what mattered to him, legacy, his culture and past, his love for his son. Hes potentially the best father in the SW canon. He plays starships with his son. Takes him with him on his work to prepare him for what he knows is a rough galaxy. Sure he puts boba in danger constantly.but when you consider how skilled jango is, and how long boba lived. You can see boba was always safe as long as jango was alive. He clearly saw the clone army as a sort of off shoot of the mandalorians and was most likely one of the few privy to the grand sith plan, however probably dookus version.who knows what plans dooku had for jango if they had both lived through the war. Perhaps re taking his mantle of the leader of the true mandalorians, with the help of the clones. I mean, that could ,make sense that dooku and jango would let the clones retire but also continue fighting as a mandalorian allied empire army. But of that universe happened. Jangos true honor would come into conflict with dooku. Jango can work with anyone if it's just professional.its when it gets personal we see him deviate and do the morally correct thing. There's multiple instances of this too. I always get annoyed when people think jango is an evil character. Hes always been neutral to me. Being on neither side, which is how he can look a jedi in the eye and not be arrested. Despite raising an army for their destruction. Plus he hated jedi. But has worked with them for the greater good once.

    I would prefer Skirata's version of training, since a sense of family is very important to a being, but I can also understand why Vau did what he did. The only thing why I would not prefer Vau's methods are, that his ruthlessness, the focus on the mission success and survival were also a reason why Delta didn't kriff the orders and went for Sev but left him behind. It is stated many times that other commandos (including Omega) would have ignored the order and went for their teammate.

      The clones aren't Mandalorian in The Clone Wars which plays a massive part in the books and is the entire reason they have Mandalorian sergeants in the 1st place.
      The clones have inhibitor chips in The Clone Wars while in the books everything they do, they do of their own free will.

    What ever training technic I would have used I would have been at their first battle with them. I would have needed to be to understand the exact conditions they had been asked to fight under and then adjust my training as needed to better support their combat needs. A bounty hunter has different combat needs then a soldier on the front lines or patrol after all.

    Hindsight being an unavoidable part of my reasoning, it is difficult to say what I would have tried to teach them or how. But I think, knowing myself, I would have specifically attempted to train them to turn battles back around (optimally by using the opponents strength against them). This approach would have likely involved intentionally putting clones in no-win scenarios one after another (team leaders showing Kirk-like responses to this approach first)... following would come hand to hand techniques designed to help explain and internalize the practice, strategy games akin to chess and go or beyond, various simulations of losing scenarios I had personally seen turned by various practitioners, and finally wrapped up by the impossible task of ordering two of them to kill each other with the winner getting to live and fulfill their role they had been trained for (only those that refused, turning this no-win scenario into a full victory by allying against me would pass... any that chose to kill their fellow teammates in order to fulfill their training outside of what I was trying to teach them would be executed in keeping with the lesson taught... the best way to turn that defeat around is to keep the threat minimal by removing as much of that cancer as possible).
    I personally believe individualism to be a great strength, but not exclusively, and a full unit of these 4 commandos were going to have to learn exactly how to balance these facts without allowing the overall objective of their mission to be compromised (and as all missions are unique, all commandos must be able to adapt to their new mission objectives... never holding onto and trying to oppose their old mission objectives on the new one as displayed by such clones accepting defeat by killing their fellow clone thus completing their mission of following orders instilled by the Kaminoans vs following my mission objective of never accepting defeat and instead turning that defeat upon the enemy instead).

    Well, since the Clones aged at twice the rate, starting at 2.5 years of age (5 regular human years; basically take the age of memory retention & double it), I’d apply survey tests every half year and measuring how sensitive their five senses are, their “Sternberg’s three” style through their five senses in input (questions) & output (answers), and their learning curve. Then, until the next assessment test, they’re put in classes that uses the best they’ve got & such. Might end up having a clone chef brigade that aren’t just good at serving meals, but can smell poisons and throw their cooking utensils pretty well (don’t underestimate ‘em
)
