Enjoyed your video appreciate you getting frustrated I thought I was the only one that happened to keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and the continued support!
Your doinng a grate job i cant wait to see it completed.
Thanks very much, it won't be quick, but it'll be worth it.
Hey mate doing a really good job replacing those panels on that old 55 the pieces you’re talking about down near the trunk I always put them in last tour on the right track bud 10/10 !!
Thanks very much! I can't figure any other way to do it, so it's nice to hear you do it the same way.
Great video. I like the fact that you point out how frustrating it is to work on a project with so much damage. I don't know how to weld so I really am enjoying the panel alignment challenges on your 55. Like you say it won't be perfect but it will be solid. Really looking forward to the next level of repair and metal restoration.
Thanks for the support and thanks for watching. It's frustrating, and time consuming, but I'm committed.
Unless you have the Rear inner Drop Panels the 1/4 spacing might get thrown off, trunk to drip rail will dictate the 1/4 placement . On my 53, I started w/inner drops and pulled and tugged the 1/4 to fit the trunk. not using new drip/r, mine was there and it my pull the 1/4s funny . In your later vid of trunk and taipan pass side fit problem might be the spacing from raising and spreading the pass 1/4. To short... Maybe? Its coming along Dam Covid stopped me , now its winter in Utah and Im working on p/train management budget... Its only money right.. Love how you work the issues. Stay healthy and keep thrashing.
I have some parts coming that might help. I think the rear inner drop panels are what I ordered. Should be here soon. It's a bit of a mess, but I'm working through it. Covid sucked for me. Took me out of the shop for almost a month. Thanks for watching and sticking with me.
I feel your pain my friend!
Thanks!
Too bad about the argon regulator, but you got lucky it wasn’t the bottle valve. Get that bottle secured. Seems like slow progress but you’re getting there. Keep chipping away at it Ed!
I had it chained to my cart but it's a cheapy cart and the chain broke. Oh well. I don't use the straight argon much, I might just return the bottle. It's slow progress for sure, but I also work a lot at my day job, so it's not as quick as some people can. I'll get it done. Thanks for watching and the support.
Great job putting it back together with very few starting points. It’s a time consuming and frustrating job.
Thanks for watching. It'll take a while, but I'll get there.
Hang in there Slow Car. These projects are always bigger than they look at first glance. You are doing pretty good. Frustration is a part of the job.
Thanks very much for the support. I'll get through it.
Lots of work there, but you will get through it in time. Kudos for saving this car in the first place!
Tons of work, but I'll get through it. Thanks for following along. If it turns out half of what I have planned, it'll be great. Thanks for watching.
Nice job your making good progress. Enjoying you work.
Thanks for the support. I'm glad you're enjoying.
Ok, do you have it figured out yet? I enjoy your show very much. I know the 55 has got to you. I am on your side, I can take it. Been a while since you put up a video. I miss your videos.
I really appreciate your comment and your support. Your timing is fantastic. I worked on the car a bit yesterday for the first time in a while. I hope to edit the video in the next day or so. Unfortunately I've been working a lot at my job and then I got sick with Covid. It took me out for a couple of weeks. I haven't given up by any means. This car is a real challenge and an absolute turd, but...... it's going to be great! I'm excited to make some progress. thanks very much for your concern. It means alot.
Ed I love yer headache lol and how ya handle it . I’m leaning back to full floor as apossed to floor patches
Thanks for watching!
Doing the best with what you have is all you can do. As for the gas bottle you are lucky that just the regulator broke off (if you know what I mean). Yes if you keep sticking with it, It will get done. 👍
Yeah I was fortunate that it didn't knock the top off the bottle. I'm committed, it'll get done.
Alright fellow tri-five reviver.
The first thing you have to do is centerline everything and work your way out. It looks as though your on the right track, the tail pan looks (from what I can see in the video) centered with the frame. Just have to make sure the body is centered on the frame. My ‘57 bel air was sitting without an axle on the ground since roughly 1975. That’s where I had to make sure everything was centered from the frame to the body before I had to replace everything in the rear.
Second, them replacement panels are never perfect. I used my bead roller to sharpen the lines that match the original parts. And don’t cut the ends of the panel until you have everything lined up (B pillar side). Don’t forget to use the floor and a level as a way to verify correct height. And one more thing, recut the trunk floor and re weld it flat to make sure everything is out as far as it needs to be.
Here in Arizona rooting for you
Good luck to ya!
Thanks very much for the support! I'll take your advice for centering the rear tail pan. I'm not sure if I want to recut the trunk floor, but we'll see. I might hammer and dolly it later when the body is off the frame. Thanks for watching and I look forward to showing more progress soon.
I’m watching this because at this very moment I’m looking at 2 rusty cars (same car) trying to decide if either one of them can be fixed.
They can all be fixed. It's just the same two things, time and money. With tri fives, you need both. Thanks for checking out this video, check out the ones a little further in this series, it got a bit crazy.
@@SlowCarFix it’s a ‘55 Nomad. Trying to find an AFFORDABLE ‘55 Nomad. Haven’t negotiated price yet but there’s $20k DIFFERENCE in price between the 2. The more expensive car already had some floor work and maybe has all of the trim. It still needs quarters and rockers. The cheaper car is definitely missing some of the trim but needs everything (passenger/trunk floors, inner wheel wells, rockers, quarters and tail pan. The thing that concerns me the most is the tail pan and lower lip around it (below the tail light, between the outer quarter and tailgate) has a really crappy patch and you can’t even get a reproduction part to fix that (Nomad specific).
@@johnkelly6942 both sound like serious work. Someone smarter than I am once told me “buy the best you can afford and you won’t be disappointed “.
Nice fix! 👍
Thanks very much.
Really appreciate all your work to produce the films.Wonder if Bondo is available in 55 gallon sorry whatever that is in liters drums.Going for a drive in the corvair thanks again.
There will be some filler for sure. Who knows how much. I guess we'll see, but I'll do what I can to make it as little as possible. Thanks for watching.
Dude you are doing a good job
Don't over think it. What do you think they make bondo for
Do your model work and send it off to paint and drive the car and enjoy life...
Thanks very much! I'm working on it. I'm trying to dial down the brain.
I just wanted to comment to everyone on aftermarket panels...THEY ARE SLIGHTLY OFF ON PURPOSE.
For a part to be a perfect fit it has to be licensed by the company. That cost money for the maker.
Aftermarket parts are made so as not to be perfect replacement...SO NO INFRINGEMENT LAW SUITS.
I never thought of it that way. Good point. I'm just glad parts are available.

You usually are! Thanks for the support.
I would rather watch you actually doing something instead of narrating about what you have done or intend to do. I think you may get more subscribers if you did that!
I appreciate the feedback. Check out my other videos. I usually do that much more than in this video. As mentioned in the video, I was very frustrated and was just getting a path forward. Also mentioned in the video, next time I'll be showing more.

I've talked to Dan, I've watched his videos. His 55 wasn't this bad, but he fixes a lot of stuff. Good guy, good channel. I'll figure it out, I'm not worried. It'll take what it takes. thanks for watching.
