I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-seventy-seventh day of the war.
Day 777: Apr 10
Today, there is a lot of news from the Avdiivka direction.
Here, Russians are attempting to breach the newly formed Ukrainian defense line and cross the Durna River.
After the fall of Avdiivka, the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk became the next main stronghold of Ukrainian forces in this direction. Pokrovsk is the main Ukrainian headquarters in the area, from which they reinforce, repair, and rotate their soldiers and equipment from the frontline. As such, Ukrainians have established multiple lines of defense to halt the Russian advance, if Russians do decide to make Pokrovsk their next main target. And it looks like the Ukrainians were right.
After slowly making their way through minefields and Ukrainian settlements behind Avdiivka, Russians have finally reached the first Ukrainian defensive line behind the Durna River. This river is too wide to cross in many places and, in some, has turned into a swamp. Therefore, Russians are attempting to gain access to as many crossing points as possible to increase their chance of crossing the river and establishing a bridgehead.
However, Russians do not control all crossing points, most importantly the one near Umanske, giving Ukrainians the possibility of conducting counterattacks on the exposed Russian flanks. Geolocated footage confirms that Ukrainians launched multiple successful counterattacks on the Russian flanks near Tonenke, drone strikes on Russian armor stationed near the settlement, and on Russian positions in the Town itself.
These attacks forced Russians to take immediate action to prevent a possible collapse of their new offensive, as Russians launched a massive wave of attacks on the fields in front of Umanske. The Institute for the Study of War noted that these waves of battalion-sized assaults are the largest we have seen since Russian forces began their campaign to seize Avdiivka in late October of last year.
On the first day, Russians launched 3 waves of mechanized assaults. Russians launched their first wave early in the morning and attempted to cover their advance with smoke shells shot from their artillery. Unfortunately for the Russians, they were assaulting positions manned by the Ukrainian 25th airborne brigade, who had received training from Western allies and were equipped with modern weaponry. As such, the Russian assault was swiftly dealt with. The first Russian tanks were destroyed by Ukrainian T-80 tanks, and the Russian attack quickly dissolved into chaos as the rest were cleaned up by artillery, drones, and further tank fire. Later in the day, Russians launched second and third waves, each consisting of 4 armored vehicles. During these attacks, Ukrainians also utilized Western-made Javelin anti-tank missiles in addition to the already present Ukrainian tanks, artillery, and drones.
Despite losing such a large amount of armored vehicles and infantry in them, Russians still managed to cross multiple fields, and take up positions in the tree lines. However, Ukrainians did not intend to simply allow Russians to establish a permanent hold here and conducted multiple swift counterattacks. Russians did not expect a counterattack, and as such, the 25th airborne brigade utilized the element of surprise to eliminate the tired Russian formations, who had no possibility of retreat. All Russian armored vehicles were either destroyed or pulled back shortly after dropping off the infantry in order not to meet the same fate. As a result, the Russians were pushed back to square one.
A Ukrainian soldier active in the area stated that Russians committed over 36 tanks and 12 Infantry Fighting Vehicles to their first day of assaults alone. Counting only the number of verified, geolocated Russian equipment losses, Russians lost over a third of their armored vehicles, 12 tanks, and 8 infantry fighting vehicles in just one day. A Russian Storm-Z officer stated that they suffered from a lack of artillery and air support as the assault went on, which resulted in significant losses. The Russian officer also stated that Russian forces could ultimately ‘overload’ the Ukrainian defenses, if only they could send forward more waves of armored assaults.
After the series of failed assaults, Russian aviation conducted an air strike with FAB-250 bombs on the Ukrainian dam and crossing point in the town of Umanske...

That's how it is when you attack a fortified position... attacker always lose more than the defender....
Let's hope it's by the week!
@dimitrovbmw Yes, but ruZZia is losing lots and not adapting ie same old armoured columns with soon to be dead meat on board.
@@dimitrovbmw tell that to Hamas, Japan, Nazi Germany, Iraq, etc. It sounds nice, but it all depends. D-Day also had more German casualties. Russia suffered more losses than Germany - but would've won, though Germany attacked. If you were right, tactics in war would be pointless - since it is just about numbers.
US definitely didn't lose more than Iraq, also not in Vietnam. The cost was too high, though and no real advantage to be gained at that cost. Like Afghanistan for the Russians before. Still, way more afghans died there too. Again with the cost otherwise. It's what the west is trying to do here too and what Bin Laden tried to do as well. Force bankruptcy through excessive pride.
I think they have enough money and temporaly becomes more and more permanent.
I don't see how ukraine will ever regain territory seeing how the counter offensive was a complete failure.
Also, we show in this vidéo how russia lost the assault, yet recent news (even deep state UA) russia gained the contested fields.

Thank you once again for your excellent reporting. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇬🇧
Heroyam Slava !!
Syrskyi is a very smart tactician. Through a series of carefully structured withdrawals, combined with robust defense of other areas, he has steered the Russian advance towards a very deep and narrow salient between Netailove and Umanske, whereby the Ukrainian forces, with the benefit of substantial water barriers and tactical heights, may continuously attack Russia's flanks and stretched logistical lines. The Russians, keen to maintain the initiative, cannot help themselves but keep pushing forward into this trap. It's clear that Syrskyi's main goal now, is to deplete Russia's strength as fast as possible, by maximizing attrition. Essentially using Russia's own suicide wave tactics as a weapon against them.
Yep I noted it also on the map that even if Russians are allowed to take this area, it will not be very beneficial to them.
Potentially being attacked from 3 sides. So reading the reply above mine, a great tactician would rather let the Orcs in for an opportunity go deplete their numbers even further.
@@VasilManikatov GFY orcbeast.
@@VasilManikatov Yup, and all the orc troops are concentrated in a narrow fringe around the Eastern border of Ukraine. That's why the Russian anti-orc volunteers can penetrate your evil country whenever they want. And meanwhile, on the other end of Orcland, China is busy seizing land that you can't even defend. You are so screwed.
@@VasilManikatov Big in surface area, lacking in population. A lack of manpower of 4 million workers even before millions in their best age run off, first at the start of the war. Then another ½ million just before the first draft started. Russia now depending on underage workers to supply the war machine. This is very reminiscent of another set of events where the young was led into service of the nation, while the leader, a short little man threatened the world with 'secret weapons' ...now replaced with the threat of nukes. Even the lack of fuel is similar, that war machine of a previous age did run dry, and in the last weeks they pulled their armoured vehicles with horses. Russia don't even try that, they drive them straight into the lines of the defenders - 95 tanks now blown up in the field near Toneke.
I don't agree, local tactical success is never followed up with a follow on attack that exploits their success. This shows a real lack of generalship in my humble opinion
Thanks!

Wars in e.g Afghanistan showed that huge armies (one of which russia....) will never actually win a war against an enemy that is fully WILLING to die for the cause. Ukraine is facing a similar enemy, but fully FORCED to die for the cause.
Different, but yet scarily similar in terms of final outcome I fear.
however when the lower level bosses kids start dying they get upset even with a mafia style leader like putin .
The problem is that you don't understand who is the defending party and who is fighting for their future, not Uncle Sam's interests. For example, look at the ethnic composition of Crimea: 65% Russian. I.e. Russian people live there and always have. Why do they need the power of the Ukrainian junta over them, which will even forbid their children to speak and study in their native language? It is the Russians in this conflict who are fighting for a cause. As for the war in Afghanistan, it was fought not by Russia, but by the USSR, which included Ukraine. And the order to deploy troops to Afghanistan was given by General Secretary Brezhnev, who ... drum roll... is Ukrainian!

thanks for the update.
The relative weakness of Russian artillery is interesting.
They still work arty under Stalin's principle that "quantity has a quality all its own". 👎
That's because they only have half of the Soviet stockpile left by now.. Ukraine is hunting them daily. What you will see in the near future is Russia using more of the older tanks, T-55's as their artillery as their stocks are being depleted.
It is outdated in tactics, capability and age. Much like with tanks and APCs/IFVs their stock is huge but old, designed for a defensive war that never came.
That is why they are forced to use glide bombs dropped from stand-off distances of 80 km or more - their artillery can't get close enough, it is not precise enough, their support and supply chain sucks... and same goes for their cruise missiles only they are far more expensive.
Which is why they only use them on civilian targets - they can maybe hit a building, but it is preferable that the target is a town or a city.
Bonus points for the fact that most of their mothballed artillery got packaged into all those newly mobilized infantry battalions - spreading them wide and thin.
That is because you're judging their success from videos not showing the overall picture. Russian artillery is relentless and does a lot of damage. You need to watch more combat videos from the Foreign Legion to really get an idea of how it really is and not just this top-down map stuff.
When has propaganda ever made the other side look good?

In terms of cost: 12 tanks will cost more than 8 APC's. So looking at the loses vs the total committed to the battle is one aspect.

Lots of New AI processors on the market in the last 6 months. Ukraine will advance quickly with this Technology. 🇨🇦
Processors are only one side of it. Data and Training are also very important.
This is nowhere close to that level of processing power or logic. It is relatively simple object shape detection, doable with existing cameras and CPUs already in the drones.
Only real difference, hardware-wise, is the infrared camera. Which, again, nothing really new - it's the use of it all on relatively cheap drones that's new.
Russians will probably go crazy with homemade attempts at thermal camouflage. Expect tanks covered in grass, moss etc.

@@ilanweinberg2561 yes it is pathetic, yet ukraine has to mobilise kids and constantly beg for help. Just ask yourself a question, if countries stop believing this Ukraine scam and stop bleaching money in, how long will it take before ukraine crumbles?
I'm ok to insult russians every day, saying they're are pathetic, they are monsters, they are dictators, all we want, but will that help ukraine gain back territory?
We said russians are dumb, they don't know how to attack, yet ukraine did 6 months of horrible documented losses just to take robotyne, why? Because war is not what we want to think or propaganda, war is ressources and skills.
