I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-seventy-ninth day of the war.
Day 779: Apr 12
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Siversk direction.
Here, Russians significantly increased the intensity of their assaults after a long pause.
The reason why Russian forces launched the offensive to capture Siversk is the strategic importance of this town. Capturing it would enable them to set the ground for a much broader assault on Kramatorsk - the capital and largest Ukrainian-held city in Donbas.
In the past, Russians halted their attacks on Siversk after the capture of the Severodonetsk-Lysychansk agglomeration in the summer of twenty-twenty-two due to lack of forces and subsequent shift of focus to Soledar and Bakhmut. Ukrainians exploited this opportunity by capturing important tactical elevations around Bilohorivka, solidifying control over the region and stabilizing the front line even more. At that time, Russians concentrated just over twenty thousand troops in this direction, making it the smallest Russian troop concentration on the whole front.
However, over the last several months, Russian forces deployed a lot of additional reinforcements in the form of Storm-Z penalty battalions, Chechen Akhmat forces, and elite airborne forces. Such a surge in force concentrations indicates that Russians are rapidly prioritizing Siversk over other directions.
The increase in the number of troops was accompanied by a respective increase in frequency and intensity of fighting. The most intense clashes broke out in three different regions, more precisely, around Rozdolivka, Vyimka, and Bilohorivka.
In the Rozdolivka tactical area, the main goal of the Russian forces is to advance further into the hills to the northwest of the settlement and use them to assert fire control over the main supply road to Siversk. If we look at the topographic map, we can see that the road is behind a hill, so if Russians manage to take the hills, they would be able to assert fire control over the road. However, this is only one out of two roads that supply the Ukrainian Siversk group, and while the process of supplying them would be time-consuming and longer, it would still be possible. Regardless, Russians are far from reaching this goal, as the Ukrainians are holding tightly onto Rozdolivka and tactical elevations around it.
Beyond Rozdolivka, the Ukrainian defense belt extends westward to a couple of villages, namely, Vasyukivka and Fedorivka. Due to natural obstacles in the form of small rivers, Russian advances towards these villages are extremely complicated. The reason why such operations are difficult to conduct is that there is virtually no room for maneuver, so all Russian assaults are inevitably restricted to predictable direct frontal assaults.
On top of that, the main Ukrainian positions are not in Rozdolivka itself but on the nearby hill to the west, which is almost 200 meters above Russian positions. Such a setting puts Russians at a significant tactical disadvantage for two important reasons. First of all, the Bakhmutivka River is a natural obstacle that complicates potential assaults due to the need to slow down to cross it. Secondly, the river valley is located in the lowlands, meaning that even if Russian assault units manage to cross it, they would need to fight an uphill battle.
The control over the hills also prevents the front line from completely collapsing, in the case Russian forces manage to overwhelm Ukrainians in Rozdolivka with their frontal assaults and take the village. Ukrainians know this, and for the past year, they have been building formidable fortifications around their firing positions on the hills to establish effective fire control over the region.
That is why, based on the latest updates, Russians had to turn their focus eastwards towards the village of Vyimka. If we look at the topographic map, we can see that the village and area around the railway embankment are in the lowlands when compared to Russian positions in Berestove. This would give Russians a significant tactical and also operational advantage because it has the potential to affect the fate of the Siversk salient.
A successful Russian advance along the railway embankment, in principle, will allow Russians to launch a direct assault on Siversk town, especially given that the town is not shielded by any advantageous elevations or obstacles between Vyimka and Siversk. Moreover, Siversk is a small provincial town...

Ukraine should be supplied with an airforce-worth of fighter aircraft, such as the F-16s and longer-range precision munitions;, such as ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range variants should be provided)], and the russian military facilities inside of russia should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans can see that not only is aiding Ukraine the ethical thing to do, it is the practical thing as well. America has spent only approximately 6% of our military budget so far to help Ukraine. However,, over half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition to this, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions spent today saves trillions tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this. Americans also want to see Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support giving military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are a US citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and soon. The sooner we give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be over, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also google for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.

80k isn't the elite, the elite is the airborne forces which number around 45k but we don't know how much of that is combat troops and how much is support. But it sounds reasonable because USASOC is 38k. The headline is kind of misleading. They're probably deploying 80k troops into that area but the airborne forces are the elite and their at max 45k.
No need for elite if all you have is cannon fodder tactics.

But Russia doesn't care. It wants to show that the West won't come to the rescue if Russia or China invades a neighbor, so they can roll in there and take them all because of this. So what if they don't have a military afterwards. They think the West won't attack them because of the threat of nukes, so they only need a military to hold land they take in a war and to take land in wars. Their soldiers can be disposable since they are going to have more people when they take more countries, so they don't care. Evil as all get out, but that is how they think about this.
Europe not stepping up, except France, was a failure. The US having a political crisis over this was a huge failure. Now we have China watching and trying to decide if it is ready to try for a land grab or not. The only thing keeping them in before was their lack of experience and geography making them both a fortress and a prisoner at the same time. If they see Russia succeed in taking Ukraine or at least enough of it, China will try for something. Might be Taiwan. It might be one of their land bordering neighbors instead.

From what I hear Russia outguns Ukraine 10 to 1 right now. But being in defensive positions, the fact that Russians have to cross the river, and Ukrainian superior tactics should allow them to hold out till more aid arrives, and Russian's economy collapses more.
When would more aid be arriving? We've already sent M-1s, Bardleys and now F-16s. Ukraine seems to receive such gifts as propaganda rather than tactical assets. What's needed is combined arms and a sense of aggression. What is needed is leadership which both sides seem to have a shortage of.

I suggest publishing a video with a list of reliable platforms and links through which we the audience can directly fund helpful initiatives, as our governments are not enough prone to apparently.
I've been using United 24. Earlier I did some through a contact in Ukraine that had contacts in the field, but got no feedback. On United 24,... I trust Zelensky and his government simply put. Donor can choose which area of the struggle to direct the funds. They do reports of allocation of funds, but I just trust.

Russia does yes, ukraine never really had any in my opinion. Russia has just been sending non important people, felons and poor people. Most of their well trained soldiers are sitting back in case ukraine pushes up too far then they send in trained soldiers retake the area then replace them with the felons and undesirable people. Most of russians losses are just prisoners lol, which is why they don't bother getting bodies.
Russia is smart enough to know that at this junction it could be a very long war which other people join in and it's better to keep their elite soldiers out of the meat grinder incase the conflict gets bigger

80,000 troops is a lot of hands on rifles, boots on the ground. General Ben Hodges said from the beginning that winning is a matter of will and logistics. Ukraine has incredible indominatable will. The logistics of getting Brads and 155 shells out of storage in American deserts, getting ammo and armour into Ukraine has been halted for six months by a very small cadre in the House of Representatives. It's a proPutin game changer. this is the kind of situation that requires massive amounts of ammo and armour. Ukraine is 2 weeks shy of throwing rocks and sticks at advancing Russians. Ukrainians are fighting brilliantly and courageously. They are not getting the support they deserve.
Sorry, Russia doesn't have 80,000 elite troops. Maybe once, but not after all those casualties.
And just how would you know that ? Who told you ? What military experiences do you have ?
