I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-eighty-fifth day of the war.
Day 785: Apr 18
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Avdiivka direction.
Here, Russians have advanced through the fields behind Avdiivka and are attempting to cross the Durna River and break through the next Ukrainian line of defense.
As you remember from the previous report, after the Russians took control over the settlements in the fields, they tried to cross the river in as many places as possible. Most of these crossings are situated around the Ukrainian settlement of Semenivka. This makes Semenivka a natural target for Russian forces. Ukrainian and Russian soldiers in the area both state that Russians are actively trying to breach the Ukrainian defense here and establish a bridgehead in the settlement.
Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrski recently stated that Ukrainian forces had completely rotated their elements, which had already been fighting in the direction of Avdiivka for over two years. This allows the Ukrainian formations to recuperate and recover their losses so they can be ready to fight another day. In contrast, the newly arrived Ukrainian brigades are well-rested and ready to defend against the Russian attacks.
A Russian military blogger claimed that Russian forces are trying to take control of the Ukrainian lines of communication in Semenivka. This is not surprising, as the Ukrainian defenses behind the river are supported by a good road network, which significantly improves Ukrainian logistics. This allows not only easier transportation of ammunition, wounded, and reinforcements to and from the front but also makes counterattacks easier and more effective for the Ukrainian defenders. Russians, however, stay severely limited in their attack vectors, as they are limited by the suitable crossing points over the river.
In preparation for their attacks, Russians are concentrating their forces in the newly occupied settlement of Orlivka.
To prevent this build-up of forces, Ukrainians use two different tactics. Firstly, drone operators use FPV-kamikaze drones, together with artillery crews, to monitor and destroy observed Russian movements and positions in the settlement. Ukrainians have released over a dozen geolocated combat videos showcasing such attacks on Russian infantry, vehicles, and hideouts.
Secondly, Ukrainians perform surprise counterattacks on the settlement, ambushing Russian infantry who feel they are purely on the offensive. The well-known third assault brigade released geolocated combat footage, showing how they quickly set up and executed such an attack. As a result, they destroyed the Russian position and managed to pull back to safety before other Russian forces could react.
Despite these efforts, a Ukrainian officer active in the area stated that Russian forces seem to be able to at least partially replace and reinforce these lost detachments. Russians likely use the old Avdiivka chemical plant as a transit point from where they can quickly reinforce their positions closer to the frontline. The Avdiivka chemical plant gave Ukrainians a significant defensive advantage during the battle for Avdiivka. The solid industrial construction and the many rooms and basements provide excellent cover against artillery fire and drones. Russians seemingly use these features in the same way as a forward operating base for their offensive operations to the North and East.
Ukrainian soldiers active in the area stated that Russians were actively shelling their positions with 120-millimeter mortar shells in preparation for the Russian attack.
At the same time, Russians had also concentrated enough forces in Orlivka to launch several attacks over the river. Russian military bloggers claim that these attacks were successful. They state that Russian forces consolidated positions on the western river bank and entered the first buildings of Semenivka from the South. Other Russian military bloggers were more skeptical and stated that while Russians had entered Semenivka, Ukrainians were actively launching counterattacks on their positions.
Ukrainian forces, however, later released geolocated combat footage of multiple waves of Russian attacks. The first wave consisted of 6 armored vehicles and numerous infantry. The Russian armor first rushed through the fields and over the crossing as fast as possible in an attempt to avoid the Ukrainian artillery fire. This did not work out well for two of them, as Ukrainians destroyed one armored vehicle with artillery fire while disabling another one with a drone. The remaining Russian armor then quickly dropped off their infantry in the Southern part of the settlement and continued their advance...

Ukraine should be provided with an enough fighter aircraft to form airforce, such as F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, including ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range versions should be sent to them}), and the russian military facilities inside of russian territory should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans understand that not only is aiding Ukraine the morally right thing to do, it is the practical thing to do also. America has spent something like approximately 6% of our military budget so far to aid Ukraine. However,, more than half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a much more peaceful and stable place for decades - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions of dollars spent today to aid Ukraine saves trillions of dollars tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this fact. Americans also want Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support providing military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are an American citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and promptly. The sooner America provides Ukraine the weapons it requires to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be done, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also conduct a google search for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.
@@gregoryhuey347 F-16 is an old cow... Rafale rules, but a 2nd assembly line would be necessary even if the production has tripled to 3 units a month and 4 a month planned in 2025... F-35 is sub par and those who bougt it don't even know how they will manage to pay for the tremendous costs of use... The only advantage of F-16 is it was mass produced...
And, in fact, the best bet would be... Gettin MiG-29s and upgrade them with French+Israeli combat systems (India does so) and, as we are, stuff the 100kN dry thrust version of the M88 engine on a cradle with fuel tanks around : the M88 30cm less diameter would allow to stuff 2000L of fuel around the engine... The main issue with the MiG-29 is its short legs. The Israeli mod stuffs the same AESA radar they use on their F-15I, then the I-Derby-ER is better than the AMRAAM, and Indian jets also get the MBDA MICA-NG wich has twice the range of the AIM-9X Sidewinder as an IR missile...
There are already Ukrainian pilots training on Mirage-2000, AKA "the F-16 killer" (Greece and India shot down Turkish and Paki F-16s with it), but training combat pilots on a new type takes many months , not speaking about beginners or airline pilots...
In fact, the best thing would be... Recreating the "Flying Tigers"...

RFU has become an important benchmark for reporting from Ukraine. Keeping the focus on just reporting is the greatness of this channel, there are lots of channels that copy each other and don't really add anything essential. Of course the RFU has become a piece of cake for boots, it would be misconduct from ther side if the Russians didn't try to stop your operations.

It's rather one-sided though. Most of his reports are about small victories that have little impact in the grand scheme of things. His aadvika report was all about these small victories of holding a position making it look like Ukrainie was winning there but in the grand scale Ukraine was slowly getting encircled there and well we all know what happened.
