I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the eight-hundred-third day of the war.
    Day 803: May 06
Today, there are a lot of updates from the Kurakhove direction.
Here, Ukrainian forces decided to withdraw from Novomykhailivka after months of fierce resistance due to the intense Russian pressure on the settlement. The battle for this settlement has been ongoing since the end of autumn, and it has become the location of one of the largest graveyards of enemy equipment of this war.
Novomykhailivka, a small vil4lage with barely 1500 inhabitants prior to the conflict, became one of the highest priorities of the Russians on the entire front line since it became an immediate step on their way to Kostiantynivka, an essential logistic node located on the P0532 road, and from which Vuhledar is logistically supplied. In turn, Vuhledar, one of the Ukrainian strongholds still resisting Russian attacks, is located at the apex between the north-south and east-west front lines, and additionally is the closest point to Mariupol and its influence zone, located about 80 kilometers away, and therefore just at the range limit of the HIMARS standard ammunition systems. So, for the Russians, shifting the front line even a few kilometers beyond Vuhledar is a big priority.
Novomykhailivka has been defended among other units by the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, one of the best prepared and equipped elite units of the Ukrainian army. It’s been reported their very frequent use of Western equipment, such as Javelin missiles, helped in the destruction of a lot of tanks and infantry transport vehicles in the area. In recent statements, their commander, Colonel Yevgeny Shamatalyuk, detailed how his units have faced a Russian force composed of at least eight regiments and two brigades in the Novomykhailivka area. This is about 30,000 soldiers for this small section of the front line, which means a seven-to-one disadvantage for the defenders.
Recently, the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade reported that Russia had lost 314 pieces of equipment over six months of fighting around Novomykhailivka and released a detailed video to document this claim. The striking footage combines impact images and geolocated debris over the six months. The video and the additional published material allow us to analyze the attack on the village over this period.
Firstly, Ukrainian defenders faced an attack from multiple vectors, frontal and from the north and south flanks. However, in the first weeks, the attack was stopped to a large extent, especially in the northern and frontal vectors, given that the numerous assaults had to cross many densely mined areas and open fields. Ukrainians repelled these attacks with the help of superior recognition capabilities, which allowed the preparation of overwhelming ATGM, artillery, and drone fire well in advance.
Secondly, in the face of Ukrainian solid resistance, the Russian forces only found a way to advance by employing massive bombardment while incurring disproportionate losses, both in unsuccessful mechanized assaults and through infantry meat waves.
According to different reports, due to the extremely high loss rate, Russians had to deploy additional operational reserves. But in the end, these successive waves achieved incremental advances that allowed several weeks later to cross the outskirts of the village and enter it.
However, the massive bombardment with artillery and FAB bombs completely wiped out buildings and fortifications inside the settlement, making the defense of the town untenable, given the impossibility of maintaining defensive positions in mere ruins and shell craters. For this reason, the Ukrainian defenders had no other option but to gradually withdraw from the town.
Incidentally, some analyst reports indicated that the massive FAB bombardment not only paved the way by undermining Ukrainian fortifications but also helped to clear densely mined areas right on the edge of the town.
After the confirmation of the withdrawal from Novomykhailivka, the situation for the Ukrainians remains complicated as the Russians continue to exert heavy pressure on their direct path to Kostiantynivka. This path is now more accessible for the Russians, given the various forest lines...

u mean we have to thank them for dying in a pointless war. Yes, thank you Zelenskyi for executing NATO plans, but in doing so you destroyed your nation. But hey, at least you have the money now. we at west need to admit what we tried to achieve, and how we ended up with Ukrainian blood on our hands. We forced Russia to react. US/UK keeps telling us Russia was bluffing, they will run out of ammo, putin has 6 cancers, and what not. Is all BS and propaganda. West is in panic, because we dont know how to get out of this situation. Russia has already destroyed Ukrainian army, and also destroyed Ukrainian army with NATO weapons. IT is game over, brother. It was game over before 2022 already. West dont care for Ukraine, only to weaken Russia. Our leaders have said it out loud. Only thing left to do if we want to help Ukraine, is to force them to stay neutral. But we cannot do that, because we BOUGHT Zelenskyi to force NATO in Ukraine. So it would mean we would have to make an official 180 turn. But we dont have any brain, because we are sending more weapons and make sure Ukraine will no longer exist after the summer.

You are the "voice" of this war. You mainly care about Ukraine, but you belong to ALL of us. Bless you. Slava Ukraine

    • @cognitionignition
      @cognitionignition Před měsícem +23

I agree with your statements and sentiment here. This channel is doing great work presenting a sober but positive angle on Ukraine's fight in an efficient and clear manner. They've mentioned that it's a team effort, behind the scenes, and they make very effective use of information sources and presentation technology.
The narrator voice we hear in the videos may be based on a specific individual's speaking voice, but I think it's AI-generated for all or most of these videos.
One likely example of an AI doing the speaking is the pronunciation of "Robotyne" in a recent video. The pronunciation, and even which syllable in the word was emphasized, varied noticeably each time it appeared, even seconds apart. This is not something I would expect would be the case for a human speaker. We usually settle on one way of pronouncing a word or name.
I occasionally notice pronunciation hiccups like this in other videos, or little things like long blocks of text spoken without taking time for a breath. For the most part, though, it's a very smooth, subtle delivery, and doesn't distract from the information. The consistent pacing and overall tone is calm and assured even when discussing bad news; this is good for morale and that's an important part of this channel's work.
I personally am not bothered by the use of an AI voice in this context, particularly if there are concerns about the personal safety of team members involved against possible retribution from people who support Russia. It might also be a production-timeline factor, or necessitated by inconsistent recording-studio quality. Whatever their reasons, and whatever the ratio of live versus AI-generated vocals, I am glad they do the work that they do.

@@Dilley_G45 Agreed. Russians are fighting Soviet schemes of maneuver on Offensive and Defensive Operations. This helps Ukraine.
My complaint with Ukraine is targeted. Defensive Operations are hard to distinguish between legacy Soviet schemes of maneuver and NATO schemes of maneuver. The biggest difference is counterattacking when on Defensive Operations. Soviet counterattacks are usually only artillery. This was GEN Zaluzhny’s style too and why he complained about lack of Allied ammo support. He did not comprehend NATO Allies could not and would not supply enough artillery ammo to allow Ukraine to fight Soviet style. GEN Syrskyi is much more active in getting local Commanders to use maneuver scheme counterattacks in addition to artillery and drone attacks.
It TBD if GEN Syrskyi can mount a NATO scheme Offensive Operation. I am hoping to see at least a limited test of NATO Combined Arms maneuver warfare including air assets and obscuration.
I am disappointed Ukrainian Engineer Units have not built more support roads and defensive lines in depth. For example, Vuhledar needs at least a 2ND support road. On Deep State Map, there are only Class 2 roads if the 1 Class 1 road is cut. It would NOT have take Ukrainian Engineers much effort to make a Class 1 road out of a Class 2 road over 2 year period. In fact, even in Class 2 status, there is a 2000M gap between the end of 1 Class 2 road and the main Class 2 road to Bohoiavlenka. Why was this not done? Even now, it would take about 20 dump truck loads of medium gravel and another 20 loads of finer gravel to connect these roads with a roller flattening each drop.

They are a much larger pool to draw meat from back then, now with wounded/KIA/Desertion/Civilians fleeing the country/etc their manpower pool is rather limited compared to what it used to be. Considering their population is rather old, reproduction rates rather low, and many other factors their viable manpower pool while larger than Ukraine's is getting chewed through far faster than they want to admit. Only question really is will the manpower trade between the two remain sustainable for Ukraine, or will moscow close it enough that it no longer is.

Tom Clancy wrote one of his first books titled 'Red Storm Rising' and was about a hypothetical war between the USSR and NATO.
In one chapter he described how one Russian commander managed some sort of battlefield success when everywhere else was being slaughtered.
A general went to see how this success was being achieved and it was described exactly like what is happening in Ukraine. Massive meatwave attacks incurring horrendous losses to take a couple of km of ground.

    • @panaforce
      @panaforce Před měsícem +5

During the Cold War, Soviet land warfare doctrine in Europe was built around the idea of Arty supremacy; where inf & Ard moved under the cover of Artty barrages. Which was problematic for NATO back then and now.
The Russian inf waves aren’t the type and size of waves in the two great wars but much smaller, the size of sec to a platoon, moving in on enemy positions that are brutally shelled over several days of arty prep.
What makes this war brutal is that none of the sides enjoys the element of concealment and surprise on the battlefronts and area of ops, due to constant presence of droned eyes and guided weapons, hence mutual denial of time & space in the AO, especially on the battlefronts. It’s a unique kinda war, where we see revival of obsolete tactics of trench warfare to highly mobile techmax combat swarms, even though it’s a high intensity combat type warfare, but it does not permit high concentration of forces in mass, either in the trenches or for manoeuvre. Forces on the front are very strategically deployed to maintain the lines of battle and logistics, highly adaptable to survive under enemy C4isr and precision fire environment. In all of this, carpet bombings of WW2 and Vietnam, and deep interdiction Shock & Awe bombings of Desert Storm are all pointless without battlefront victories that require actual combat and resilience. Redefining & testing Clausewitz’s principles in a new war that requires actual combat and test of will to fight against an equally superior opponent, A war which NATO is desperate to win but without having to fight, since its YOLO private citizen isn’t willing to signup for.
      So for now, only the
Russians could fight against each-other, one for the Russians and the other for the West by proxy.

We can contribute to United24 and we can engage with our political representatives. Our voices matter and only the cynical and disengaged refuse to push their weight. We have power in a way that Russians do not. We must exercise that power and be engaged in what we want our governments to be. No one can possibly want what either Russia or China has to offer.
We have seen the example and it is very unappealing.

Thanks for the report... I'd like to know where these numbers came from. I have to assume "destroyed 314 vehicles in one battle" means the months' long battle for the town, and includes those Chinese golf carts among the kills. Otherwise (and either way, really), those would be considered ridiculous losses for taking 1 town.

    i regularly watch this channel
not strictly about this video but regarding the bigger picture I still (after more than 2 years) cant comprehend that russia is throwing even their own peoples lives away like... this.
Noone I know of or heard about would have thought that they are still in this mindset like: "Yes we want to control these 2 villages lets throw a few thousand lives in there and it will work out eventually."
this is so crazy, I really thought these wars are history. at least in europe or at least in this dimension.
    its nuts
much love from Austria. Hang in there, I hope the west will help you through this, but when you will have won this war its all thanks to you Ukraine!
for me it feels like you are defending me/us as well, too bad so many people dont see it that way.

you see the russian slowdown in gains now, means american artillery shells and ammo has been coming in. the us pre-shipped some of the critical supplies to poland before the vote in congress so ukraine was getting supplies within 2 days of president signing the ukraine aid bill tuesday evening i believe. its why the american general said they can with their logistics get supplies arriving withing a couple days. means it was already in poland.
