In less than a year after Grade’s channel was resuscitated through a Reddit post, he had turned his content into some of the most unique and marketable work on CZcams, and was approaching the peak of his career, he was stepping effortlessly between his drama and non-drama content, and gaining support at an unassailable rate. The sudden interest in an actual genre that could generate its own conflict while simultaneously being able to comment on it definitely had its appeals, and being a person of strong, unmitigated sentiments, Grade had found his rhythm.
His content picked up to an unbelievable pace at around mid January of 2016, just after the release of his second Nicole Arbour video, in which he breaks down Arbour’s side of her abuse story against Matthew Santoro, and exposes some rather glaring inconsistencies with her testimony, but equally, as quick as he took off, he was to encounter his fair share of drama.

Ty Plum Yeah but it’s because he was on Keemstar’s side the entire time up until he was totally against him, and it was all for popularity and views. And by doing so, he showed everyone else around him that they were only good so far as how much they could help him grown, and that he would throw you under the bus for subscribers. So it makes sense, in a way.

I think that the mental health context that their latest videos added kind of explain why grade acted the way he acted. I don't really advocate his behaviour concerning drama and stuff, but the stress that his fall as a CZcamsr caused, combined with all the online arguments, have to be a substantial part of the general struggle he seemed like he faced. That's just my two cents (quite funny vid btw)

I mean, I get where you're coming from, one could say that TRO is speaking from a _holier than thou_ standpoint. But I'd argue that *anyone* in this whole _arena_ could be accused of that. But I have to say, this video is presented (as far as I thought) in about as flattering a way to GAUA as it could have been.

One of my major gripes with Grade's content was how repetitive and formulaic it got, focusing too much on petty drama, and obviously how fame and popularity got to his head and all that. It's a shame too because some of Grade's older videos were still entertaining to watch.

"perfectly" edited.....i dunno man, that Icarus section was way too hyper-edited, especially compared with the rest of the video. all of a sudden it turns into a buzzfeed video with a spastic editor, has to have some form of editing trick every 1.5 seconds.
Such a stark contrast to the previous video...and man, though it's really informative and VERY well edited, it's honestly kind of sad as to how Grade fell from grace.

I honestly really loved grade. If you were a constant viewer there since his first big blow up you could tell very clearly tell the drama videos took a huge toll on him. The quality dipped, his enthusiasm dipped. I’m glad he left. Got himself out before the Internet really destroyed him

Maybe he was just good at putting up an appealing persona and putting his personality toward content people would enjoy at first. Maybe he was always an asshole and just got too cocky.

Most celebrities and even a lot of normal people have a persona; they show others what they want people to see (or at least, they try to). Some are more of an act than others, but it's usually there. just found this channel recently but I have to mention how much I LOVE how the editors are credited in this.
while youtubers often do credit editors in the description it's cool to see their names in the video and in pinned comments with their channels so blatantly acknowledged.. editors are often skated over for the "face" or "voice" of the channel, so even if they're properly paid and compensated (assuming that's happening on this channel) they are often overlooked.

I agree that drama kinda broke him but at the same time the past few years was nothing but drama and going along with some of it was the only way to stay relevant on the platform that is probably the reason he did it as he wasn't the biggest of channels at the time and still isn't huge today and this was his only income at the time as far as we know (he probably got a job after the youtuber purge when youtube went nuts with demonititisation)

The only thing he literally (and correctly) defended Keem on only to do a complete 180 were the racism allegations. I was literally watching the stream where Grade explained how Battlecam worked with regards to the whole Alex situation and where he outright said that he absolutely doesn't care that Keem said what he said and told everyone complaining about it to eff off.
Just because he defended him so vehemently for that doesn't mean his total 180 couldn't be understandable though - a person could definitely see things they used to defend as horrific and reprehensible (not that I'm saying this was the case with Grade - Grade is just a manipulative narcissist).

That's unsurprising, given Grade's initial justification for not hating Keem back when the Keem hate train first started from that crazy Scottish youtuber. It completely revolved around Keem having helped Grade with his channel. When you boil that down, that's just 'Keem helped increase my profits'.
Guess that's just what makes Grade tick.
Idubbbz is the goat. He literally made Keem to ease up, destroyed Leafy’s career, and took GradeA’s career as collateral damage.

Something I enjoy about TRO is that unlike most other commentary channels he doesn't talk about what's currently going on in the world of the internet but rather he talks about old news and old topics. Once all the drama has fizzled out and the dust has settled. Only then can he collect information on *Everything* that's happened regarding the topic rather than upload a video about a current topic then have to upload an update video he gives it all to us in one 30 minute to an hour long information dump. In essence he doesn't give make videos giving a bunch of current opinions he makes videos giving us The Right Opinions.

Amazing video as always. I remember Grade's downfall. It's hard to say why at one point I enjoyed everything he uploaded while now I find a lot of crude and distasteful. But I think everything you said about his "burn out" and his mixing of his two sides must have contributed to this on a subliminal level for me.

2014-2016 CZcams was a mess of drama and nonsense. It’s only natural that the years following all of this were taken over by meme culture and self-depreciation.
i never really cared about their credibility i thought they were just funny. I stopped watching leafy and grade cause they just stopped showing up in my sub boxes with funny enticing videos. So i think they focused on the drama of this way too hard and stopped making good content because of it.

They actually were making the same amount of content, but that was the time when CZcams first introduced their censorship techniques, they could literally make it to where your subs videos would barely show up in your feed. They used this to chip away at the growing popularity of channels they deemed “problematic” I suggest you watch EmpLemons CZcams Geographic series, specifically the episode “Leafy was Here” it is all about what really happened to commentary channels like Leafyishere and Grade.
