CarPro Spotless 2 0 - Does it remove water spots?

- CarPro announced an upgrade to Spotless. I personally was never successful in removing water spots with the previous version so it sat on my shelf collecting dust. That goes for any water spot remover. Most work well on fresh spots but struggle on water spots that have been sitting for a longer time.
In this video I am putting CarPro Spotless 2.0 to the task of removing water spots and in this instance it just happened to work. So the results speak for themselves as the product worked as intended to. Be aware that a water spot remover is a weak acid and that it has the potential to remove or degrade a wax or sealant and in some instances kill the hydrophobics of a coating.

Good accurate and honest review. Thank you!
Obrigado! Excelente resultado.
Mike you also have a ceramic coating as the base so most likely they where in top layer of the Gyeon wax layer. The real test is take a uncoated and unwaxed car that has no protection and see how it does on the water spots. Water spots are definitely hard to see on light cars except maybe in direct sunlight.
I just washed today actually and have little tiny what I think are soap spots all over the car from leaving the snow foam on too long (I got distracted). I hit it with a QD with no success. I have a strip wash made up at 1:10 and this got them off but I couldn’t do the whole car due to time. Hoping they come off with the next wash, otherwise a good chance to give this a go I guess!
Great video 👍
Thanks man
Would you Spotless 2 or the Opticoat MDR would work better on waterspots that are super tough? Or other reccs?
I will polish them off, but I’d like to “soften” them first before I do.
Thanks,
Nate
Between these two it would be spotless. DIY has a very good one as well.
Just curious. If the Hydrophobic action is "reduced"... wouldn't that straight up just mean the coating is compromised? Doesn't the coating shed water because it has filled all the imperfections in the surface and has hydrophobicity due to the slick, non-porous resulting surface?
Not necessarily, it can also means it got clogged and covered with all kind of contaminants, think of a glass covered with fingerprints for example, you remove them and the glass recovers its shine and slicky properties
How does it compare to the 1st version? Or even a white vinegar 1:1 w distilled water? Besides the foam tip, performance wise? Great reviews on all the new carpro products 👍
Thanks. I never had success with the first version. It never did anything for water spots unless the spots were rather fresh. I put it on the shelf and the only time I would use it was for a chemical decontamination wash. I had much better luck with distilled vinegar and that might have even worked in this instance. The foaming nozzle does a nice job of making it lather but in my opinion not really needed.
Wow this is way different than the original formula.
The nozzle foams it up nicely.
Looks pretty cool to me if it's 2.0. Normally they say to rinse well with a jet of water, but suddenly we can do like you, application with microfiber, drying with a second, and neutralizing with a quik detailer?. I'm thinking of buying it and it would suit me not to re-wet the car every time!. Do you have any advice for me? thank you in advance
As long as it’s neutralized it will be fine. Even a damp towel with water to wipe it off would work.
Have you tried Koch Chemie FSE (Finish Spray Exterior) to remove water spots?
I have not used anything from Koch Chemie. Heard good things about it.
would this remove the ceramic coating top layer? I had EXO v4 applied
oh okay, the video answered my question. Thanks
Possibly. In my experience I have always had a degradation of hydrophobic behavior in the area a water spot remover was used.
So I just got a used car that have water etchings everywhere from paint to glass and I need them gone what do you recommend? I believe they been there for a while.
You will be polishing. Use a water spot remover as part of your prep to remove the minerals from them prior to polishing.
@@MikeGDetailing ok thanks man any particular water spot remover you recommend??
@@kavionebrown4615 a small bottle of optimum MDR would be a good choice.
Do you know the pH of this product? I assume it’s more acidic than Descale.
Measured at 2.0. Descale is at 3.0.
Qual produto você usou para retirar o spotless ? Foi um apc ou apenas água ?
Water
Can you use it on the winshield? Than you
Be careful not to leave it on too long as it is an acid and could etch glass.
You mentioned that this will remove the hydrophobic properties of ceramic coating ?
I have always had a water spot remover degrade the hydrophobic behavior of a coating.
@@MikeGDetailing Thanks for that. I might leave it for now. Only had the ceramic coating for a year. Will wait till there are more water spots.
You could try CarPro Descale. That might help some.
@@MikeGDetailing I'm guessing that doesn't reduce hydrophobic properties ?
Correct. Descale won’t. It will deep clean and can remove some light water spotting.
Will this work on glass?
Yes. Just don’t leave it on the glass for too long to avoid any etching as it is an acid.
Does it work on glass?
Yes. Don’t leave it on too long as it can etch glass.
Does it work on PPF ?
I could not find anything on the CarPro site. I would just be careful and try it on a small spot just to be safe before using it on a larger area.
It is good for a shower cabine?😮😮😮
I would be careful as it is an acid and can etch the glass if left on too long.
Can you show the whole car
Its been on some other videos. The diamond protech diamond body coating video should have a full view of it.
@Mike G no I just like that body style camero
You have to show your video with a black car, instead of the white!!!
I don’t own a black car and don’t plan to own one any time soon. I’m a light colored paint type of person.
