find a safe and comfortable spot, close your eyes (put some music on if you want) breathe through your nose exhale out of your mouth. Empty your mind you know that you're having an anxiety don't get distracted. This might take 5 mins or more but keep going till you feel relax trust me this works for me :)

Generalized is worse it's all the time abput everything you don't even need to be around anyone it incorporates social anxiety. It's like being heckled by the social anxiety crew on comments for gad. Why would you be looking at gad if your a diagnosed social. Seem like you want why we have got, trust me you definitely don't. Now jog on and find your own youtube clip for social anxiety lol (im joking) it's all life debilitating depending how bad it is. Mine took 30 years to progress and diagnose. Basically I was left to lose my mind before the doctors took me seriously and now I can't even get to work.

    • @kurdtjohn
      @kurdtjohn Před 3 lety +179

All the time. I always thought of things in the past I should've handled better, or thinking about the future too much that I couldn't take the next step - this is happening in a lot of things in my life. It has screwed up a relationship because my mind is always on overdrive that I may sometimes be thinking too much about it and was always afraid that I'm gonna screw things up, and it eventually did. It prevented me from going out of the comfort zone in a lot of different things, like looking for a better job. I always thought that everyone thinks of me negatively - I always say that I don't care what everyone says about me but in the back of my mind, I do, perhaps a little too much than how I should. I have trouble sleeping through the day (I work graveyard shifts) as my mind is always on overdrive. I believe I've steered into depression multiple times but I couldn't really confirm it as I haven't been clinically diagnosed of anything; I've never tried to see a therapist about this before because of the pandemic, plus my job cannot support the costs of therapy.

I have had anxiety since 2016 (8th grade) , initially the symptoms were mild but now it is persistent and excessive. I got help in the beginning of this year because I knew it was messing me up. Chest pains, muscle tension, trouble sleeping (or not sleeping at all), digestion problem, loss of appetite, hard time focussing. I am 17 now ( 18 in the end of October) and I am in the lowest point in my life. I have lost hope but I'm constantly trying to tell myself that it will be alright.
I feel like I've failed myself and everyone around me, my mum, dad and sister. I have always had the image of a strong daughter infront of my dad, he calls me a ''fighter". I am afraid to tell him about how I feel because my sister is already suffering from bipolar disorder (since 2016) and telling him about my problem will make him feel terrible and I don't wanna do that. I can't sleep and I haven't sleep well in years. I wanna feel at ease but I can't.
    Please, pray for me.

You can try massaging your neck muscles and try to stretch a lot. I found that i helps with breathing and overall tension. MOST IMPORTANT naps. I cant sleep at night. But found thatbi can take naps. Please do that. Even for 20 mins. It truly helps in the long run.

      Hey, I'm copy-pasting this everywhere, I found a cure:
Hello guys! I tried this type of meditation and got amazing results with it, I have much less anxiety now, it feels like it reduces my anxiety every time, I'm only 3 days in. It's called "Transcendental Meditation" Today I talked to a girl with no stuttering, which stuttering is a symptom of GAD/SA. I don't know what this meditation does but it's amazing!
      Here's how to do it:
First of all do not eat for at least 2 hours before meditating, it can intefere.
Meditate at least 2 hours before going to sleep, anything under that can make it hard to sleep as this meditation increases your alertness, it wears off after 2 hours.
Sit in a chair where you can move your head freely with no obstruction, for your first time do this in a quiet room. Repeat a syllable or any short word that has no meaning in your head, silently without your voice. So repeat a mantra in your head, it can be anything but since all of you are new to this try "Lam" or "Ram."
Start by letting your mind calm down for 30 seconds, then start repeating the syllable, repeat it SILENTLY in your mind, without using your voice. Repeat it 10 - 20 times then stop and it will automatically start repeating on its own. After you repeat it that many times, do absolutely nothing. Do not concentrate on it, just do nothing, let your mind do the rest, you need to do *absolutely nothing*. You will notice if you do absolutely nothing that your mind will remind you of the syllable without you having to do any effort, and this is fine, this is exactly how the meditation works. Do this for exactly 15 minutes, DO NOT go above 15 minutes, this could increase your anxiety levels temporarily and cause too much stress to release.
Once the 15 minutes is over, slowly open your eyes to not shock your nervous system and STOP thinking the syllable. Now that you have stopped thinking the syllable, just rest with your eyes closed for at least 4 minutes, preferably 5, and keep sitting down. Now if you did everything right (Did not concentrate, rested for 5 minutes after meditating) you should notice less anxiety immediately after the session, especially if you suffer from severe anxiety like 90% of us do. If you haven't tried this meditation yet, then please try it right now if you have time, you will be happy you did. This is obviously not a scam, I'm giving you a meditation course that usually costs $1000+ for FREE. :)
Good luck curing your anxiety Frankie.

If it's stress over interactions it may help if you can just take a few steps out of your comfort zone to quiet area(or stay by your home & ask a stranger/neighbor for the time). Then, the next day repeat the process by speaking to 2 ppl & so on...
      To overcome your worries.
--Also, writing therapy helps. Wether it's a dream, food journal, poetry, or anything to start putting pen to paper. Once you begin writing, after a few weeks it feels natural & having the pen to paper can reveal subconscious thoughts or things you can't recall(maybe issues you dont realize impacted you or bcuz your brain thinks it's protecting you by hiding some memories) that are causing the stress &/or depression.

      Here's how to do it:
First of all do not eat for at least 2 hours before meditating, it can intefere.
Meditate at least 2 hours before going to sleep, anything under that can make it hard to sleep as this meditation increases your alertness, it wears off after 2 hours.
Meditate 2 times a day, with at least 6 hours between each session.
Sit in a chair where you can move your head freely with no obstruction, for your first time do this in a quiet room. Close your eyes, they remain closed until you finish this meditation. Repeat a syllable or any short word that has no meaning in your head, silently without your voice. So repeat a mantra in your head, it can be anything but since you are new to this try "Lam" or "Ram."
You will notice if you do nothing that your mind will remind you of the syllable without you having to do any effort, and this is fine, this is exactly how the meditation works. Any form of effort with this meditation won't work, it will not bring you to the state necessary to heal your nervous system (your anxiety). Do this for exactly 15 minutes, DO NOT go above 15 minutes, it could increase your anxiety levels temporarily and cause too much stress to release at once. Do not set a timer for 15 minutes as it could shock your nervous system, set a timer in your mind, stop when you feel 15 minutes have gone by. You can set a real timer for 20 minutes if you want, I do recommend this.
Once the 15 minutes is over, STOP thinking the syllable and slowly open your eyes to not shock your nervous system. After getting results for a few days/weeks, it's logical to say you should practice this for the rest of your life. This is obviously not a scam, I'm giving you a meditation course that usually costs $1000+ for FREE. :)

@@loveisthemostpowerfulforce1397 Well, thanks for that. You know, our community is small and scattered and anything we can share to our group is just wonderful. I don't have anything particular like you but what's helped me is a combination of throwing myself into my work, the motorcycle and my canoe. The latter two items being very zen like and calming. Even when I'm (and I don't reccomend this) cheating death on the bike leaves my mind cleared like nothing else. Takes you to a new level. The canoe is pure beauty, nature and application of skill. So satisfying.

I was diagnosed yesterday with anxiety related to a previous case of untreated PTSD that still creeps up from time to time. I was put on some SSRI medicines. The doctor said my physical state was extremely affected by my anxiety going unchecked for as long as it has, and was surprised that I was able to function as well as I've been able to. I was raised in an environment where constantly being highly alert and anxious was essential for me to keep myself safe, and it has become my new normal. It's not good for me and has ruined by body in many more ways than one. I'm finally glad I'm starting on some solutions to help get my health, both mentally and physically, back on track.

My best friend in school was walking home with me after I had a panic attack that day (palpitations, shortness of breath, fidgeting, fear, disorientation) saying "oh yeah, I had that in English today.". Maybe I'm being too sensitive about it, but the way she said it was like she dismissed what was going on with me and it made me feel uncomfortable and doubt myself.

In 2010 when I was 18 I was diagnosed with GAD. I had panic attacks, chronic hyperventilation, social anxiety, afraid of everything (driving car, flying), was a hypochondriac. After a couple of years I just had it, I couldn’t function anymore. I had decided that something needed to change. I thought to myself in order to get over my fears I have to face them. So I started doing all the things I was terrified of and tried to avoid. It was horrible at first and I was crying and panicking doing some of the things. After a year of doing these things all of a sudden my panic attacks stopped and my chronic hyperventilating stopped as well. I was so surprised and in shock, but of course above everything I was sooo happy. Years of happiness followed without any anxiety and I felt liberated. Now since the birth of my first son in 2018 my anxiety has slowly started coming back, but mostly the hypochondria. I think the big change with becoming a mother in life and having this big responsibility now triggers my anxiety and it got ‘woken up’. I feel really shitty now it has come back because I really thought I was freed 😞. It just consumes you and you’re left feeling so drained. Hopefully I will be able to overcome it again because now I know it’s possible to overcome it with your own strength. But sometimes you’re just completely frozen and your mind is just too overpowering with these negative thoughts and you can’t calm yourself down 😔. I hope everyone in here will find the solution and the strength to overcome this horrible anxiety. Lots of love 💗 It’s hard but we can win this battle!

I’m not 100% healed but it’s definitely about 95% so that already makes live a bit easier.
Also, could there have been some kind of traumatic experience you’ve had maybe when you were younger? That’s causing the anxiety? It’s important to not keep these bottled up inside you, try to talk to someone about it, if that’s the case.

GAD is so weird. You could be relaxing and you suddenly feel a tennis ball in your throat and butterflies in your tummy. So you think "what's going on?" And you sit there trying to figure out what's caused the anxiety and then you feel anxious about feeling anxious. And your heart starts beating a little faster

I fixed my anxiety, social akwardness and some fears i had when i did a 4 month part time job as a construction labourer. I had anxiety saying hi to one person. But this job made me say hi to 100 people every day and work and talk with them. After a month I got used to it and I realised all my fears and akwardness and shyness went away. I even started talking more and had 4 social sircles that I was switching to talk too in breaks. When I went back to my parents and stayed two weeks home my anxiety got back up and i realised the reason why I really had anxiety. It was because I was home all the time and alone mostly on my computer all the time. Which breaks you from social interaction. Not to mention sitting or not exercising all day your nourveousness builds up.
Guys fight your fears by talking and socializing its scary but if you find a way to do it every day you can cure it

Perhaps or perhaps you had anxiety and not a disorder. Physical work did work for me though but after a work injury it still came back with a vengeance. I think its all down to a individual and the severity. What works for one might not work for another. I find mine has progressed after 30 years of suffering from it. The brain is seriously complicated. Do you take antidepressants?

Oh my gosh I relate to this so much. Ever since quarantine, I have been having really bad anxiety and I realise it is because I dont speak much with others. I am an introvert and so I tend to prefer time alone but I realise when I socialise with others, I am not that scared anymore. Just thinking about everything is scary but once I start doing it, I don't feel so scared anymore. Even for introverts, communication is extremely important

Hello!
Meditate 2 times a day, with at least 6 hours between each session.
Sit in a chair where you can move your head freely with no obstruction, for your first time do this in a quiet room.

I spent so many years minimizing my symptoms that when I was told the episodes I was having were called panic attacks and when my doctor told me I had an anxiety disorder, I felt like crying but at the same time I'm still in denial...like I don't know who you're talking about but it's certainly not me. I'm still struggling to accept that I have a problem but I do know that I want more for myself than just going through the motion.

One of the worst anxiety attacks that I have EVER HAD, happened the day that I decided that enough was enough, and that I was going to take steps to overcome my anxiety. Thinking against anxiety, actually caused anxiety. It's crazy, but your body actually becomes addicted to it, and how it makes you feel, regardless of how negative. It's like your body is saying..."How could you not worry??!! Dude, we need to worry, about what could happen, to be prepared incase it does......" And guess what. THE SHIT NEVER HAPPENS!! Now, you've wasted weeks, months, years of life,, worrying about something that NEVER.....FUCKING....HAPPENED. Thats what made me just say fuck it, I'm done with this. For a while,, it was hard as hell, but I kept my mind focused forward. It got better, slowly, but surely. Needless to say, you have to keep pushing. Keep going.

I sometimes feels like anxiety stays with you forever but it definitely becomes managable over time, with the right help of course. 3 or 4 years ago when I still lived with my mother my anxiety was at it's absolute worst. I remember this one time when I was in a very early stage with therapy and medication and what not. One day I ran out of medication and I didn't sleep for like 2 days. Througout the day I had this feeling like I was gonna faint every 10 seconds, couldn't eat, felt exhausted, extremely on edge and just terrified for what was gonna happen to me. When I went outside to walk the dog it felt like everyone was watching me. Whenever someone looked at me I just wanted to punch them or scream at them to leave me alone. When I got out of the shower on the first day I looked at the mirror and I could see all of my muscles shaking and tensing up. And after I finished my dinner I finally fainted and woke up on my bedroom floor 2 hours later, dizzy and completely confused to what had happened. I thought I had fallen out of bed but the lights were on and I was still wearing my normal clothes. Shortly after that I threw up and went downstairs and saw my mom sitting on the couch watching tv. That's when I found out I had been laying on the floor knocked out for 2 hours. That must've been the lowest point in my life when it comes to anxiety. Now as I'm typing this I finally have a stable job and I'm about to move to a new apartment for the 2nd time. I'm way more relaxed and I barely even think about the things that used to terrify me like using public transport or just being away from home in general. I still have my moments but it keeps getting less severe and easier to control. I'm not sure why I wrote this whole paragraph but I guess I just wanted to share my story and hopefully help someone who is going through the whole process of recovering. It's not always easy but it will get better. It's all about setting these tiny goals and experiencing personal victories. If you do that enough times things will get better for you

My anxiety and depression have always been around, but its escalated to an extreme these past 2 months. I've been privileged enough to start DBT with my therapist and we've created a safety plan to keep things under control. So often I just feel trapped, unlovable, that I shouldnt be here. Don't get me wrong, support won't magically heal you. Most days still aren't "good." But since strengthening my coping skills (meditating nightly even when I'm feeling well to build strength in the practice, journaling nightly, distractions that I enjoy, exercising, cutting out social media almost completely, taking walks outside, spending time with my friends/loved ones, putting up boundaries, etc.) I can definitively say not as many days are bad either. So seek help. Despite who you are or what has happened in your life, if you're down bad, find support. You owe it to yourself. It won't be easy, but things will get better than they likely have been. Be strong, I know you can. Now go knowing that you are worthy of help. ❤

I would love to watch a good video about depersonalization and derealization. This is a usually neglected subject but these disorders are as serious and unbearably difficult for the patients as anxiety and depression, for example. Many people who suffer from them don't even know there is a name for them and, therefore, it can feel pretty lonely. It has affected me personally for years and I hope we can all know about it and discuss this more often.

Hi Maria Rosa. I also have bouts of depersonalization which usually take the form of full blow panic attacks. Although for the last two years it has been mainly GA with associated symptoms of depression. I am replying to your comment because it's the first I have met someone who specifically pointed out to the depersonalization/derealization as major factors/symptoms exacerbating and impeding normal functioning in GAD cases. I really hope I can get in touch with you and more people with the disorder to share experiences. It gives me hope and some solace to know I am not alone.

Anxiety is literally no joke AT ALL. This alone can cause damage to your way of thinking if not for self-awareness, almost as if you're watching yourself helplessly get consumed with something you fear the most deep within.
It's actually even worse when you can't get help at all, especially when your loved ones are dismissive and narcissistic to admit that even teenagers needed comfort and consideration through stages of being lost and restlessly bothered for no reason. It's truly quite saddening, I must admit.

My parents don't understand how much I worry, I'm 12 and I can relate to most of these symptoms as in I'm nervous to go to school for absolutely no reason and sometimes it brings me to the verge of tears and I have absolutely no idea why and I know it's stupid, I'm not as bad at daytime but all my friends know I worry about everything like I never stop worrying about simple things like one time we were 10 minutes late to homeroom with literally the strictest teacher ever (she used to count how many seconds we were late) and we were about to enter And I had sweaty palms, rapid heart rate and I was really reluctant to go in but I felt trapped like I'd be dead if I didn't turn up because people rat you out and she comes looking for you but I'd be sent to the principle if I went in late (it's happened before and I was like breaking down and I don't know why)
It's worst at night though,I find it hard to sleep and usually I end up tired enough to sleep at around 2am most nights but

3/7 nights a week roughly I recall everything that has happened and what could've happened and it has me crying, headaches, nervous feeling in my stomach , and it totally takes away my tiredness that I had previously felt and I can't sleep like I had an ex boyfriend because obviously we're just kids and everyone has experienced something like that when they're little like they play football together and hug and whatever they do I don't know but he has a friend older than him and when I went to the park his friend spat gum at me, spat ice lolly at me, threaten to throw a wrench at me from his back, hit me with his bike, threw stones at me, tried to pour a bottle of water over my head etc but he was like much older trying to terrorise me and last night unfortunately was one of those 3 nights and I couldn't stop thinking what if next time he beats me up (he's known for beating younger kids up) what if he decides to test strengths considering I'm a weakling this will end bad but when heQ

I suffered in silence until I was 18 when I decided to seek help. Don't make the same mistake I did by thinking there was something wrong with me that no one would understand. Get help as soon as possible! Best wishes!!

Y’all are so lucky to be able to seek professional help , my parents are against therapy in general and i can’t even talk to them about my feelings and thoughts , since mental illness is considered a “bad” thing in my country so going to a therapist is seeing as being insane or crazy , i think that i have anxiety especially in public spaces or when im in too much stress , i find my self crying for stupid reasons , panicking when im outside my house , stressing about normal life things … once i’ll be able to pay my own bills i’ll find a therapist to help me out , so if u got parents who take time to understand your feelings and issues you should be grateful

Mentl health is considered tabu in many countries. But its more common than one might think. I can absolutely guarantee that you know many people who suffers in silence. 2) Studies shown no one cares about you or judging you, because in reality; there thinking about themselves too the way you are

But I cannot control my brain and it pisses me off when someone says " just don't think about it " because if I could I would have done it by now. Also I told my mom I want to see a therapist and she said it would do nothing and I should work on myself.
