I really thought I was the only one having these panic attacks. Everytime I went to the ER or the doctor they would say I have nothing and I just need to relax so I was very frustrated and people around me couldn't understand me at all. Now that I see that im not alone it feels less horrible and lonely.
My last panic attack was a few months ago and it started 3 years ago. Today, studying about it and reading other people's experiences makes me understand just how "normal" and not so "horrible" and "uncontrollable" this is.
A small prayer: I wish we all get over it once for all and find peace.

I was having chest pain for a year and had no clue what was happening. I had two ekg’s and some other monitor but the doctors said my heart is healthy. Once covid hit and I stopped going to work and school my panic attacks were infrequent. I haven’t had the chest pain anymore. It’s scary over panic attacks can harm you physically but doctors don’t look into it as much.

It was the opposite for me. I thought every one had it, that I am just nervous and anxious, and that's pretty normal, that I was just overreacting to the triggers. But no, at a point it happened on a daily basis and there was nothing normal in having it out of nowhere when I'm alone by myself, that's when I realised it's something only I have. Looking further I realised I have hyperhydrosis and it is directly related to my attacks, so shit sucks, and I still have it few times a week. Ironically, now it is 'normal' to me.

I have panic attacks and the only medication out there to treat this is klonpin that's what i'm on and it's like i got my life back. I also have argprphobia . It's spelt wrong but i'm sure you can figure it out. I couldn't go into stores to shop for the things i need and grocery for food.. i had a hard time getting treated for this and all it did was make everything worse because i went so long without being on the right medication that's for panic attacks and finally i found a doctor that helped me. All of these symtoms should have never got that bad where i couldn't even go into a grocery store and my shopping but instead my rx boyfriend had to do all the shopping. By the grace of God i finally got the right treatment and i could finally get my life back and be a normal person. Aniexty to the point where it's affecting my life and Health but since i got back on klonpin that's helping with it. Everything that i'm going though is all the doctors fault because they let me suffer for 11 months with extreme aniexty and all the other stuff on top of that. I almost had to suffer the rest of my life without being treated for what i was going though on a daily basis and it's not fun at all but the doctors don't have to suffer and find out that it's such a horrible feeling that you are limited on places to go because of my panic attacks and aniexty go wild and to the extreme aniexty it was. I am thankful that i finally am getting the right medication and help that i need. God was watching over me and he is the one who put the idea in the doctors head that im a severe case from not being treated for about 25 years maybe longer.

I had a bad attack period of a week of near constant intense attacks that lead to unhealthy weight loss, strong mental fog, and gaining a new trigger. I started seeing a counselor last year shortly after that awful week and I’ve improved greatly and learned how to deal with a bad attack.

I have been there, it's very hard to control or distract ourselves... But believe it or not, our brain is like a recorder, it listens to what we speak out, even though it feels like impossiblele or nothing happens at first, it does! try and see, say it to yourself that "I am in control of myself, nothing can control me" try to repeat this often (breath in thru nose slowly and breath out through your mouth) while you are breathing in and out, you try to believe that you are taking in positivity/happiness and breathing out the negativity/sadness, it will help... Try to use essential oils to relax your mind, try to relax at a quiet place or with relaxing music.. I hope this can help someone who needs help. I will pray for u!

I had my first attack on March 13th, 2015. Watching videos currently because I was just blindsided by one laying on the couch. Was laying there watching TV, and then the room spun, my breathing stopped for a second, and I had to jump up to not die. Of course, I naturally thought it was my heart stopping since I take Beta Blockers for SVT, but I was able to realize it was an attack. To anyone watching this to learn about the disorder for a friend or loved one, I hope you understand how debilitating this disorder really is. There are a lot of people out there who laugh at it and just tell us to calm down and stop worrying. If you're curious to how it really feels, imagine that time to were walking down stairs and missed a step. That feeling that lasted half a second. Double the intensity and make it last 10mins to 2 hrs. That is a panic attack.

I have been dealing with it since I was 4, I remember having one when I was just sitting on the floor in front of the TV watching Steve Irwin on animal planet. Nothing happened that could have caused it, so I just decided to pretend that it didn't happen and I didn't tell anyone. I only had carpet burns that time, but sometimes they're so severe that I pass out for a few seconds or even throw up... I don't want to be reliant on pills or therapy my whole life, so I've started looking at service dogs.

Guys, I've been there. For so long. 4 years ago I was having several panic attacks a day, and the state that I was in back then lasted allmost a full year. The next year was rough, I've had my share of P.A. aswell, but not that often. Only a dozen per month. It was after that year, two years after I was diagnozed with general anxiety disorder, that I finally gathered all of my courage and went to seek help. After a full year of therapy (didn't want to take any meds) and half a year of my own way of battling it, I'm proud to tell you I haven't had a panic attack for a bit longer than a year. I'm not all good, but I am doing IMMEASURABLY better than before. Gather the strength in you, accept the condition you're in at given moment, seek help, there is ABSOLUTELY no shame in that, and confront that tricky mind of yours HEAD ON. Be strong, BE PATIENT with yourself. Be kind to yourself, give yourself time. Allow yourslef to feel low, BUT NEVER give up. I PROMISE YOU, you will overcome. Just as I did. To everyone reading this - You are capable of everythig, however you might feel and whatever you might think! You WILL overcome.

I also remembered , mine was during a camping in our school. it was a huge camping event so lots of people gather at our school. It was few mins before we have our march competition, and it was really hot that day. I suddenly felt a short of breathness and it feel like i can hear my own heart beating. During that time, i have no idea of mental illness and panic disorder, so I thought i was having heart attack and thought i was dying or going to faint. That thought really scared me and i also dont know what to do at that time. Because of that, I said to our commander that i cant join the competition because i feel sick at the very last mins. This brought anger and misunderstanding between me and my teammates because after they were done, i was feeling okay (not feel panic anymore) and not sick at all. I was also suprise my ownself, i dont know what was happening with my body. after that, i experienced it more often.

I was crying my eyes out and I was sweating and my whole body was trembling. My eyes turned red and I was a mess. It happened so unexpectedly. Like I was eating and watching a CZcams video and I just stopped breathing. The second one happened like 10 minutes ago. I just stopped cleaning my room and just started hyperventilating. I couldn’t breathe and I was crying and no one was around because both my parents were out working. My mom called while I was breathing heavy and on the verge of crying and I was trying to hold it all in to make it seem like nothing was wrong but I couldn’t. I just started bawling and I was breathing heavily but it didn’t feel like I was breathing at all and I was sweating and trembling and thought “this is it. im going to die today”.

I'm taking medications now after being diagnosed with panic attack and sever depression. After several attacks I learned how to control my mind to just accept the sensation, let it flow, and drop my resistance. To those who are having this, find a silent place, close your eyes and don't resist. Keep in your mind that it's just a panic attack you're having And nothing bad is going to happen. YOU'RE NOT DYING. Just let the sensation flow, feel it, let your body get used to it. Better if you're lying on your back and try to relax all your muscles. It will peak but eventually the feeling will subside. Prayers and having someone to talk to about what you're feeling is better.

I was diagnosed with all 3 - GAD, panic disorder, and social anxiety, and mind numbing pills combined with therapy helped me to improve in my teen years. So to anyone who suffers from the same thing, take baby steps and don't push yourself too hard, but keep trying to come out of your shells, and you'll get there eventually. Don't let people pressure you because that will just stress you out and you'll likely just shut down. Everyone moves at their own pace in life.

  • @valerieevanier9632
    @valerieevanier9632 Před 6 lety +214

A panic attack IS the physical event. A panic attack is triggered - although not always - by psychological anxiety, but what happens to our bodies is NOT just a side effect. It IS the problem. The anxiety is the trigger. You don't think you are dying, you FEEL like you are dying. Your body is telling you you are dying, the same way your hand tells you it's hot if you put it on a stove burner. It gets very difficult to breath. Your sympathetic nervous system is going haywire. You may lose your eyesight. Your hands may claw up. You are drenched in perspiration. Of course we have have feelings of terror - our bodies are going haywire. Your brain, triggered by feelings of fear (although not always), sends messages down the line and your body releases floods of substances (epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine) into your bloodstream that cause the physical effects. You may be able to work on the psychological trigger, but what is happening to your body is NOT under your conscious control. It is triggered by an offshoot of the fear/defense brain pathway that travels directly to the medial prefrontal cortex, then goes to the amygdala which classifies the event, then travels on to the parts that release the hormones, and so on. Those substances flood your body (called an adrenergic storm) which makes your body go nuts until the hormones work their way through and are detoxed from the blood. Empower yourself. Learn about what is happening to your body - there are lots of resources on the web (although don't believe everything you read!). Understanding of this problem is still growing - but it is NOT your fault anymore than someone with cancer is their fault.

But i still have this feeling of not being able to breathe but i have to keep reminding myself that i am in fact breathing otherwise i wouldn't be alive so this keeps me calm. And also positive affirmations help me a lot. It makes me a lot calmer and more positive in a way. Honestly the best cure for panic disorder is to remain calm, talk your feelings out with someine you trust, write a journal. Write about your inner feelings. And also breathing exercises. I'm currently going through this so i have to do the same thing and i know how hard it can be when you're in the moment of all of this but yiu have to remember also that this thing doesn't last forever. I’m eleven years old and this has been going on for months, when I’m in school I have a feeling we’re I’m going to puke everywhere and get embarrassed, but that’s not to bad. What actual symptoms I have is a feeling of death, chest tightness, throat tightness, and many more worries. When I’m asleep, I wake up and just sit there, when I really focus on one thing it gets worse, when o hear my own heartbeat I feel like my heart is going to slow down to much and stop. But that’s all in my head. “Your brain tells you lies sometimes, but the Bible never lies, the word of God is what should keep you going on,” my gramma once said, anybody with this disorder, should go by my grammas words to❤️

I had my first panic attack last year around september. it was like 3am and I was working for days for a project and events and exhibitions and put myself under so much stress.. i felt like the ground was suddenly shaking under my feet, a weird strong kind of dizziness, tense around my chest, unable to speak, numbness, hard time breathing... i really thought i was having a heart attack (my dad had one 2-3 months ago back then, so I was already triggered) or on some kind of dugs (I never take drugs)... my brother was awake and he rushed me to the ER and I was freaking out... since then I am so traumatized. my mind CANT stop thinking about it... i was / am always an outgoing bubbly person but now I have Panic Attacks almost every day.. lately I have them more often again. my doctor only gave me a calming mediation called "Relaxane" but I don't think it really helps. I feel numb and dizzy and like in an illusion ALL THE TIME :( whenever I feel an "odd" sensation in my body I start to overanalyze it and put myself in a panic mood and think I have a serious illness.. sometimes even unconsciously cause my mind made it like a habit to think about all my worries all the time (mostly health related) .. it's so tiring.. i just want to feel energetic & fit again

Honestly, for the past 4 days even until now, constantly, I feel so anxious to the point where I keep pacing around, feel like I can't get a satisfying deep breath, my breathing is so shallow and I'm conscious of it, I chew my tongue too, and my mind feels so distorted and I can't remember how I was before I felt like this. Even when I go out it doesn't help me, and I keep overthinking scary scenarios in which I lose control, but I really don't want too. Even when I lie in a comfortable position, I can't yawn or breath in a relaxed manner. I feel so energetic then I feel lazy, I tremble during the day, but mostly at night. So whoever is reading this, you're not alone. If it wasn't for the quarantine, none of this crap would've been happening. When you get your daily routine disrupted, especially for months at a time, it makes everything difficult because you're constantly going to see people wearing masks, gloves and using sanitizers with those "stand 2 meters apart" sign. That is what gives us more anxiety because a pandemic like this never happened in history before, and we're not used to staying at home bored doing nothing, which leaves us stuck in our thoughts and being an overthinker.

I am living with Panic Disorder since 2010. I have comfort zones that helps me to do my daily job and even have fun. The more I am discipline less likely to have panic attack. What really helped me is to start accepting them to reduce frequency. So now during panic attack I may feel fleeing back to comfort zone but if I let it pass and get busy it ll subside and I can continue working. Tea and caffeine makes it worst. People with panic disorder also mostly worry about their health too so if they are not discipline about their health the guilt itself can build up and lead to panic attack.
