    Spot on, Anesu! I don't understand how people can just blindly accept these price increases (even for higher quality like Hermes, but especially Chanel). I am a very analytical and linear thinker, however, and things need to make sense to me. As you stated, if the price goes up yet again, tell me why and what I'm getting in return. Your comment on people accepting the crumbs being thrown at them was entertaining and accurate! For me, the so-called mystery and exclusivity of the aspirational brands have been ruined by over-exposure on social media. The upside of social media is a channel like yours, which is truly educating people (and IMO, freeing us!!!)

    IMO There are a lot of people who have not yet “broken up” from the well known brands. Many are not driven by quality but rather by the name. For some its just hard to let go of a brand even though quality is down and prices up. People have very real attachments and are not ready to move on no matter the price or quality. moving onto a lesser known brand requires a lot more time, research and acceptance that quality dominates over name and brand recognition from others. Its a different mindset. I think quality driven people already moved on, the ones hanging on are brand driven.

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I agree with everything you have said but it will take time to convert more consumers but the more people speak about better / higher quality the more we will see converts (some consumers a simply not aware). It really is a different mindset but I have the patience of a saint and the drive / persistence of … to keep going and never give up.

    Loved your take on this topic! Please keep in mind that Chanel is originally an Haute Couture house and they do not just make handbags and leather goods. Their main focus has always been Ready to Wear clothing which is very well made from my experience. Most clients are not aware of this simply because they don’t know or care to look into it.
    The price increase is understanding due to how limited stock was (it is getting better) and also due to many resellers are buying all of the stock so it does not allow genuine clients to get hold of the products they want easily. I don’t know when it will stop… but stock availability is getting better and I think it reinforces just how timeless Chanel is. If you take away Hermes’s 3 iconic handbags, I highly doubt many people would still buy into the brand. Whereas, Chanel has a variety of categories that not only compliment their main focus of clothing but also make the brand that much more interesting to invest in. Think ready to wear tweed suits, costume jewelry, fine jewelry, beauty and fragrance, camellias, etc.

      @SoAnesu  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you! Yes I’m always mindful Chanel is a haute couture house first and foremost and they make beautiful and incredibly well made clothes! I don’t think prices went up because of limited stock though but more to do with the value consumers place in the brand and they ran with that.

Just this weekend I had an insightful conversation about exactly this situation with a young fashion enthusiast who just started working in luxury retail. She is only 18 and very much more interested in quality and quiet luxury than too much visible hype brands everyone knows. I was quite impressed.

    In my humble opinion, Daniel Lee is overrated.. personally i didn’t like what he did to Bottega Veneta (especially discontinuing Knot clutch & Olympia bag) nor Burberry.
    Regarding Hermes, although i agree the quality standard stays the same i did have to exchange a bracelet because of quality issue🙁

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  Před 4 měsíci

      I couldn’t agree more. I think the new tartan check is awful! I’ll be interested to see how things pan out for Burberry I don’t have the best feeling.
      You know what no brand is perfect. I think the secret is to keep quality issues to a minimum and not what people mention first and foremost.
      Thank you for watching my content.

    • @twofinedays
      @twofinedays Před 2 měsíci

      I totally agree about Daniel Lee. He turned around by then pretty well established Bottega Veneta, over night completely disregarding existing fans of the brand - the beloved staple models were wiped out, and he showed no respect for the established artisan-centric, elegant brand image. As I see it, Lee seems to be pretty egoistic and dictatorial, and ultimately it led to his unceremonious departure from Bottega only after a couple of years despite his commercial success.
      Now I see he's playing the same trick in Burberry - introduce a signiture colour, bring in some catchy designs... But I don't think he would manage to achieve the same level of success again.

    I agree 100% on your analysis. I think you know by now that you will not see me chasing after a Chanel or Hermes bag. The overexposure for me had the opposite effect! So the more voices like yours we have the more we can normalize the conversation of what quality and value truly is. I know we were not able to ultimately connect for the survey for your study but I can tell you that I would certainly not be willing to constantly pay more for ultimately less quality. Can't wait to hear the results of your study!

      @@SoAnesu they were founded a long time ago and yes they haven’t been consistently in production but Moynat is under the financial umbrella of LVMH and recently delvaux under Richmont but was around prior to being under that umbrella. What is a good enough time to have a good range of bags to choose from? Time in business in my opinion doesn’t determine the number of bag options. Lower to mid range brands have popped up in the last 10 years and have more range than the two brands I’ve named.

    • @tarreemhacaruso2687
      @tarreemhacaruso2687 Před 5 měsíci

      Not with all the price increases. They keep pricing out the consumers that want to spend so their pushing them towards resellers. As LV is finding, those aspirational consumers are just as IMPORTANT to the bottom line which is why they announced stopping the increases for awhile. So what if someone saves and purchases once or twice a year? I have birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas. Which actually hits every quarter. I usually ask my husband for a bag or ready to wear. If pre-loved offers more bang for my buck guess where I’m shopping
