      If you think about it, sure its for the purpose of making profit but it avoids the failing business alot of hassle by having essentially one customer buy their entire stock in one go. So in a way it helps those failing business make profit by not having to have their stores open any longer and waste money in the process. A bit of a selfless act if you ask me.

      Speaking as someone who's lived off less than $2,000 a month (and still didn't qualify for things like food stamps) for years, this advice is not applicable to people trying to get out of poverty.
      I now have a well playing job and could theoretically follow your advice. But it is completely tone deaf to imply this advice works for everyone as long as they have the right mindset.

    Born too early to be a TikTok famous teenager, born too late to own real estate, born just in time to see a burger went from $1.70 to $6.00
    Edit: Just to be clear I am not from USA, I just use the dollar so that it is easier to understand. Back when I was a kid minimum wage in my country was about 600-800 a month, now in 2024 it is around 1500. In 2000's a good burger cost around $1.50 or $1.70 so do the math.
    $600 ÷ $1.70 = 352 bugers
    While in 2024
    $1,500 ÷ $6.00 = 250 Burgers
    Back then we were able to buy more with little amount of money.

      Let's say a house will be $1000 a month in mortgage and property tax. If I bought the house, why would I rent it to you at $1000 a month? What good would that do me? I'd have to manage a property I don't even live in for nothing, and that doesn't make any sense. So let's say I charge you $1250 a month. What good does that do you? You now pay an extra $3000 a year when you could've bought the house for the same price as me to begin with. And even worse, you pay more and you don't even own the house *AND* I can just decide not to renew your lease if you get too whiny about it. That'd make me a parasite

      Landlords don't provide housing; they leach off ppl's non negotiable need to have shelter. The ppl who provide housing are those who build houses and apartments and sell them at a price that both fair compensation for their labor and doesn't exploit the buyers' need to be housed

      Student in university who dont want to live in a community dorm.
      Workers that get transferred to another state or country for a few years on contract or for specific business reason.
      Researchers who take up temporary residency in a particular area.
      People who live a sort of migratory life style, who either change jobs frequently or who just like living in a new place every few years.
      Where it has gotten out of hand is not small time landlords but instead massive hedge funds and other massive corporations buying up residential real estate en masse, then over-valuing the properties by double or triple, and renting based on that. *Cough* Black Rock *cough*

      Truth be told thats the reality what is really hard is to make it at first once you have enough, connections and educated it grows exponentially. You work your a$$ off to put 10k-100k you invest that money again and again that 100k turn to 200k repeat your 200k turn to 400k etc....
      Where most fail is in their initial investements because they have no connections, education on the subject etc...

      Yeah you work, hope you can not be in debt due to high prices (or live in a tent/camper like some do), hope inflation isn’t too high so the savings are worth something, hope nothing happens so you’re not put on crippling debt
      Then you can potentially invest something, obviously hoping the economy doesn’t crash and stuff, like it did in 2009, 2019 and usually every 5-10 years (one will def happen in a few years, you can see it if you know where to look), hope your investments actually bring benefits higher than cost of living increases and stuff and then maybe *maybe* you’ll save a million dollars in your entire life (excluding luck, living in tents, crashes etc)(for average person)

Every time I manage to put an extra $10 onto my mortgage it saves me 1.15c per week in interest payments. Doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up. It has an exponential effect, especially if you throw in extra every single week.

    I was listening to Diary of CEO, and something that stuck to me was someone said "most people don't start a business because they don't believe they can bend the world to their will. You need to find someone and watch them bend the world to their will and you will see that you can do it too." I had a business a long time ago and lost it because I lost my biggest client. Now I remember that I used to be able to bend the world to my will. I restarted my business last week and by pure luck I already have my first client that will bring at minimum $1,500 for the first contract and who knows how much in the future.

      You forgot the fact, that you always take advantage of others to become rich. You only become rich because of one of these reasons.
      You pay your workers shit. Your working conditions are shit. You sell product for far more than necessary, because you have enough control over the total market to do so. And so on.
      Somewhere you are taking money from into your own pocket at the cost of others. There is no other reason for anyone to have an hourly avg income of thousands or even millions.
      It is just absurd and would mean that the work the richest people do is worth more than the work millions of poor people can do. Which is obviously false.

Some people are genuinely out here trying to provide quality goods and services and paying people fair wages. I’m in Canada and looking to hire people to cut grass at 25-30$ an hour. More than fair wage and providing a service to people that genuinely want/need at the fairest price in the area. (Just one example)

    It's easy to be cynical about advice like this, but the absolute reality is that there is somebody that is poor today that will be wealthy in 5 years time because they believed they could do it and they were smart about how they spent their time and energy.
    If you don't believe it's possible because you have yourself convinced that the game is stacked and there's no more room at the table, then all you've really done is given yourself permission to never even try.

    Open an Etsy store. Then a website for that online business. Then buy your first home. Rent out a room. Then rent out all the rooms.
    Buy another house. Rent those rooms out. Then buy a coffee stand. Then another.
    Invest in stocks.
    The richest guy I know started out selling candy bars in the school hallway between classes. He’s worth millions now because he started where he was at.
