  • My 40% Ceramic Windshield Tint is to dark. I wanted to try the 40 percent Ceramic when I got the windshield replaced because I got used to the 50%. I'm noticing at times I'm having to focus more out on the country roads compared to the 50% windshield. I think it looks good but just sharing my experience with the film.

    I greatly appreciate you giving an honest review. I have my sides way dark (I think it's down to 2.5% now) but I never tinted my windshield because I do a lot of country driving as well and I'm really worried I won't see the roads. I've been getting sick of how the windshield just let's in all the sunlight to the point where you can see right inside my car even with the 2.5% sides. So I tinted the windshield. I did 50% because I was very worried about not having visibility. Once I got it done, I like it but then I started wondering about 40% because I thought the same thing - it can't be that much of a difference. But sounds like I'll just be keeping the 50% now cause I absolutely do not want to be struggling with visibility during nighttime driving in the country.

      Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. People need to realize that a windshield doesn't need to be crazy dark. 50% Ceramic helps to reduce glare and heat which is what's most important.

  • @andrews2987
    @andrews2987 Před 3 lety +9

    I think the best shade for windshield is a gray area, as it depends on many things such as weather and type of headlights and how often you drive your car at night. there’s no magical percentage as any VLT other than basically a 90% clear is a tint. I have 30% and with good headlights I see everything fine.. but a big point to make is the peripherals look darker. With good headlights the road in front of you where your lights shine looks fine, but the sky above you and the tree lines off to the sides near the top corners of your windshield look darker so it would be harder to see like a deer coming from the sideline of the woods. But another part of it is how you drive. I don’t have to drive it anywhere at night so I try to avoid rain and fog. But if I drove all the time rain or shine day or night I would just do 50.

    I'm running ceramic 15% sides with ceramic 60% windshield and it's great. The 60% has a blue hue to the film and looks classy without looking black and dark. Law enforcement give me no trouble for it, I only worry about my 15% sides so I roll the windows down when I see Law enforcement.. Biggest risk is driving on rainy days where you look silly rolling windows down 😂

    The best combination imo for daytime and at night would be 35% fronts and 50% full windshield in Ceramic ofcourse. Going darker windshield is kinda bad idea and you have to focus too much at night that it's not fun to drive. I do have full Led upgrade too.

      @@FadeToBlackLLC let me rephrase my question because the comment section has a lot of good content. I got 20 on the sides and back. All blk interior and I've been told that my windshield looks dark even without the tinted windshield. I have a dark tint strip at the top of my new windshield. I used to have 50% before I had to replace it because of a crack...the 50 looked good with the 20 but I want more privacy in the front during the sunny days. I want the 20 look but not the visibility issues at night So my question is do you think 35 would give me a 20 look because of those other variables you mentioned? Because as much as I want the look, my safety driving at night is most important. T.I.A.

    • @FadeToBlackLLC
      @FadeToBlackLLC  Před 2 lety +1

    Had 50% on shield before on a 2000 honda civic with regular headlights. It just wasn't dark enough and neither were the other windows at 24%. Tint guy didn't have 35% so next step down was 30%. Removed 50% shield and got 30% with a 5% brow on top and stacked 30% on all other windows. Windshield metered at 27% while all other windows were 10%. Windshield seemed good enough and at night I was glad I didn't go any darker and always had my highs on but my lights sucked so people hardly ever flashed me anyway. Got pulled over 3 times in my area of metro ATL over 8 month period. Got a $175 ticket for shield after 3rd stop and removed it. Now I have a 19 mazda 3 sedan and 5% tint all around looking at doing 40% shield with 5% brow as I think that'll be perfect. Should be able to get away with it and these lights are LED.

      @@FadeToBlackLLC definitely have tried a fair amount of shades in the last several years. Have been trying to see how dark I can get away with in my area but still being some what safe to see out at night but I think it really depends on the type of car you drive too. Seems like cops around here care more about the windshield tint but don't really care about the other windows as thats what 2 cops told me. I have a sunroof which will help let light in when passing cops. They also don't give out fix it tickets so its just a revenue scheme. Pretty sure most tints I've had were cheaper llumar films that weren't ceramic. When I got my mazda through I spent the extra money($500 for 5 windows minus shield) and got llumar pinnacle ceramic. I think those LEDs will be worth the extra money and you'll be glad you did. Smoked headlights probably don't help an already smoked shield in your case lol

    I have 35% ceramic on my windshield, 15% front windows and limo for the rest but i feel like i need it darker. i might go 15%on windshield. I can see clearly at night, and during the day, it still feels like there is no tint on the window, and i live in orlando. Hey FTB, I’ve been debating going with either 45 or 55 on my Model Y windshield and would love to hear your opinion. Xpel unfortunately doesn’t offer a true 50, making this decision harder. Would you say it’s a noticeable visibility difference going from 55 to 45? And which would you prefer between those?

      To be honest I've been putting a 43% on most peoples windshields because I feel 50% is just a little on the light side. So it's just a little darker and you can still see fine at night if you have good vision. I have 50% on my van right now but at times I wish it was darker. I'd do the 45%.

I’m just curious whether 45 will look like 35 looking in since I have 5 all around so I don’t want a fully black windshield.
