Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

Glass Aid is a 10 mil thick protective cut resistant strip that is meant to protect the glass from your knife. It’s white color make it easy to see through even the darkest of films. It’s flexible construction allows it to easily be formed around corners and it is heat resistant so it won’t melt during shrinking. Glass Aid is also designed to remove cleanly so you don’t have to worry about leaving adhesive behind when you remove it. This product is perfect for beginners and pros alike!

I like the way you break things down to make it easy to understand.Thats why you are top on on CZcams and the tint game.Thank you for all the videos and live feed.Keep up the good work.
I’m just getting started tinting, and I’ve been using Lexen. I’ve been trying to learn how to heat shrink and I’ve been watching your videos and been wondering “what am I doing wrong??” This helped me out TREMENDOUSLY!!
I e been using lexen and it can be difficult on a curved window
Get supreme max not the cheapest lexan
I tinted my own car this week and I just did the rear glass today, with only the information I got from a youtube short. I ended up with one crease, and it was from going too fast and swiping too much at once. I slowed down and the next three corners went much better. Gila film from oreillys, dawn dish soap, a folding razor blade, and a lodge cast iron pan scraper. For using the absolute worst components I was actually surprised with how well my first try was.
Got my C2 Carbon yesterday. Did a full ranger today. It’s nice to work with! Thanks for supplying! Waiting on my felt cards, glass aid and clay. Can’t wait for it to get here. Thanks for the videos!
These are the titles you need more often lol.. love it. Definitely got my attention
Hello from Russia, I have been following your channel for many years and I see how you have matured, good luck.
I bought NR from Tint Depot, and did both of my vehicles and it was all good. But just getting the technique down was a pain in the rear. And I found out the hard way of using a soft card or felt card is the best way to get the tint to lay down. I did the rear windows multiple times due to creases.. Thank you for the video's and giving us diy people the confidence to do it on our own.

I worked at a tint shop back in the day and I think each brand of film has their own shrinking characteristics. Unfortunately we switched brands a lot for reasons like glue failure, color inconstancy, bad film, or pushy reps. Not going to say manufactures but the big ones we all know. It was a pain back then because we had to re-learn the film each time we switched. Nowadays film has gotten better but as Matt says in so many words, time is money.
Recommend any brands with great service and representatives?
I agree. Some tint stretches and shrinks easy, but some is just crap.
@@jond8013 lexen still good and MK brothers.
@Busted Mechanic Fact 💯
Hey man! I really like your videos and been following you for years now. I've been working with Lexen (between other films) and I've tried almost all their lines. I've noticed the same exact problem with the basic carbon they have. A little harder to shrink for sure. The one step higher Puremax line is a lot better for shrinking and also looks better. Also their ceramic lines are really easy to shrink
I’ve been needing a vid like this 💯
Your absolutely right I am a beginner tinter who started with lexon film and i agree if your not experienced with shrinking front or back windshields this film Will definitely give you a harder time what I would recommend now for those who still want to save money on film is buy lexon and a better quality film like the one he talks about and only use that film for back and front windshields while you use lexon on doors and ext 👍 great video
I have been using lexan for about five years you are absolutely correct when it comes to a difficult back window I go back with my original product Solar Gard or I order lexan Kool Max Supreme great video it reminded me that I'm not the only one out here struggling with the lexan shrinking problems
Thanks I appreciate that! I’m glad I didn’t come across as bias against it. Seems to be giving a ton of people problems
I have been using the Lexen Premium Nano Carbon for about 3 months now and was always having problems. But honestly, I kept watching your shrinking method and haven't had a problem since. Just following your shrinking advice set me free and I lay it down smooth and quick now.
Ain't no way in the world you could do a beetle or older Camaro with it no way reference the lexan
@@DetroitTintStudio yes lexen is good on some cars but trying to do a windshield on a 05 was difficult
Great information and examples, Matt! Thanks!
Thank you so much brother! You really are helping sooo many people out! I went to tinting school in Jacksonville two years ago but have just been tinting rv windows inside. So it’s flat glass. But a pain in the ass as far as cutting goes. I want to go back to shrinking and tinting class A RV windshields. I think that’s where the money is at. A huge window and hopefully it’s not to hard for one guy to tackle alone. I rv around the country full time and since day one I wanted to only offer the best of the best. I only buy geosheild pro nano ceramic. This makes me feel so much better. In tinting school I could shrink some of the easier back windows with no problem. But the more curved ones gave me trouble and I never mastered them. But now I’m thinking it could have been the cheap tint they use. Haha I’m hoping it was. Cause rv windshields are huge but look easy enough. And I love shrinking. It’s kind of therapeutic for me. Weird?! I don’t know. But I’m excited to get back to it. I guess the best way is to offer a FREE tint job to a lucky class A Rv owner. To practice. Thanks a bunch man.
Good info glad I found it!!
Banger video!! You’re a wealth of knowledge!
Hi! We love your videos. We’re a small tint shop here in the Philippines. Keep up the amazing videos.
totally agreed i got recommended of using lexan and when it time to shrink the back i always burnt the end making me start over now i need to see what else i can use!
You do make it look and sound so easy.
Watching this video to fix couple of my issues I came across to do a better job and myself using Lexen. Hopefully I can still perfect it
Used your tint aid tape. Love it
Quick question, so I’m using madico ceramic film I’m doing the dryer sheet method to shrink should I try it completely dry to shrink cause I keep getting little creases here and there
I tried tinting a few times and have the cheaper Lexen film.. had the same problem.
Was my first time ever but I was able to do all side windows. The curved rear glass had me super frustrated though, just couldn't shrink it correctly.
When we train with this type of film I leave a little extra material top and bottom and we do what we call steering the film. Start by not doing an H pattern then grab the excess film near the lower/upper side edge and steer it from center to outer edge. Lexen shrinks slow but it'll lay flat if you follow this method. Common problem is not familiarizing yourself with different types of film. Your memory doesn't adapt quickly to new type of film if you use the same film consistently.
This helped. Thanks
Could you make a video about it? Iam currently using this film just to learn something new and it's kicking my buttcheeks
hello, could you tell me what kind of tape is used to glue the windows on silkscreen?
Great video I just learned something Thank You
I been using lexen for about 5 years now yes I agree with you 100% pretty hard to shrink but other than that it’s a pretty solid film I have had it on my personal car for 6 years and no color fading bubbles or anything . I mean once you get used to the film it’s 💯💯💯
Thanks for your expert advice on tint films, just a quick question I found a company or brand called polyfilm available here in Australia, they sell premium nano ceramic films, are they good?
oh my god ..im so glad u made this vid...we've been trying to shrink this Motoshield ceramic tint which seemed like forever. This is supposed to be decent quality and we paid abt $200 for it. The film is pretty flmsy, it either doesnt shrink or melts. And mind it we're beginners. We worked on it for 2 whole sundays..and still havent gotten it right
omg i literally ordered that film too from amazon, tint shrinks like garbage
ordered the same crap, absolute nightmare
I like lexen for carbon and geoshield for ceramic, I think geoshileds carbon moves a lot it’s slips a lot even after being mounted
What is the best size tint roll to get?
You 100% correct about this shrinking situation on lexen carbon but theres ceramic film are like koolmax megamax are really good and they don’t even turn purple. They shrink like butter. I don’t use carbon
El Perú se lo agradece por sus conocimientos 👋
Where can I buy the tool you use for shrinking ? And what’s it called ? I just order tools for tint depot and couldn’t find anything that look like it on the website.
Thanks you
I was wondering why I was having problems lol. What should I switch to I have probably like 2k worth of lexen. The most complicated rear window I ran into was a 07 mazdaspeed 6 probably shrank it like 3 times. Wish I found this video a year ago. 😪
I did my 1st tint job on my car today. I went through 10 feet of film to only do my back windows 😂😂
That schit kept creasing. I see I didn't shrink enough
"YOU NEED A WIN" perfect way to elaborate what he means
Any tips on shrinking the film on a C5 corvette? I can’t seem to be able to get ride of the fingers on side nor the rear window.
Bought avery ceramic any tips when working with this film? Had a tint shop use my roll to do a mazda3 hatch rear glass and they couldnt get it to shrink... so I'm not too sure if its the installers/me or the film itself.
I would love for you to do a window tinting guide for the omnique brand I got the gold chrome one but I'm having difficulties trying to even put it on help me please
I have a 2008 Chrysler 300 that i want to tint this is my first time to your channel where would i begin? I bought a couple if rolls of gila film for my back windows. 5 percent but im looking for a good film thats not going to give me too much problems im kinda leery bcos im not to good at cutting and lining things up properly i was never good at arts and crafts lol so i could use all the help i can get thanks
Hey! Tryna order some tools over $50 however still charges for shipping, does the free shipping not include Canada?
Can u go in depths about how much a roll of tint can do how many cars/windows it would be able to do like different size rolls
First time tinting yesterday with Wal-Mart tint , came out good ...JUST GOOD lol but it was simply after a brunch of redos 😅
What tools you're using for shrinking? Can you tell me the name of this tools and how can i buy it? Better if available in Amazon
Hey mate trying to tint my captiva does your method of shrinking also work with wet shrinking?
Woww i am a beginner tinter can I be using Lexen film and the whole time I thought it was me. Sometimes I get it right but some cars is just a headache with corners
I watch your videos all the time I know I feel like I have master the shrinking part the hardest one had been a 98 corvette back glass did it on my second try. Today I had a Nissan Altima it took me 4 try to get the windshield done I don’t know what I was doing wrong the last try I had the film drop a little bit on one side and it worked. If you ever come up with an Altima 13 😅 can you record it if you do the windshield 😅
I Been Using It For My First Year Of Tinting Sometimes I Thought It Was Me Could You Drop The Link If Your TintFilm You Use?
Hello. Thanks for good video. May i ask why you tape the line on window? Kan you give some tips to cut film easyer / faster?
Yea it’s extra protection for the edge when I cut the film. mytintstuff.com/collections/basic-tools/products/glass-aid
This is what happened to me. Tried shrinking the rear windshield about 10 times with Lexen, had it wrinkle bad at the last corner. Finally I cut the tint into 6" strips and laid it down. One day I'll redo it with better tint
One question please, I want to know if I can't laminate the windows of a car without a heat gun.
Don't kno if you're familiar with a 93 cougar back window but I can say its got its own challenges, its almost 5 ft wide but only 10 in tall and I've wasted a few sheets of film trying it out myself, of course its my car and its the first time I tried shrinking film, didn't think until now that it may be the film itself
Do you always use dryer sheets for back windshield ? When I use water , it eventually dries while I’m shrinking and i crease the film . Brutal
How much heat that you use for the heat gun setting?
Is C2 carbon from geoshield good for shrinking?
thats so true matt
Can you use house window tint for cars or does it not matter?
Merci beaucoup
I totally agree lexen is a difficult tint to shrink but I believe if you would’ve applied heat underneath the film. while shrinking towards the end would have improved speed of shrinking the film
Yea that would have helped, I should make a video with some extra back windows shrinking tricks like that
Disculpa. Q significa calor bajo la lámina ?? Nueva técnica ? Gracias x tu respuesta
Is gila film any good for tinting?
Try tinting 2nd gen Honda Prelude rear
Solar Protective Films is really good too
I wet shrink the lexen but I do understand what you mean it does take longer
I was quoted six hundred for ceramic tint and 349 for some inexpensive brand non ceramic I own a crown victoria which is difficult to tint and they wanted me to wait 3 hours for my car✌️
Do you recommend lumar?
how do i join the class
Carbon film shrink better but it cost more I'm challenged with reverse roll Matt help
What temprature is your heatgun?
When I told a pro some years ago that I had some issues with stuff like this when DIYing that was the first thing he told me. Are you using the cheapest film available? I'm like yeah. Boom he goes. Good quality films don't do that. It's harder to learn on terrible film
I want to tint the rear windows of my car by myself, however I obviously don't need a 100ft roll of tint... Can anyone recommend a smaller roll suitable for a one off home project like that?
Why is carbon cheaper than pro classic with geoshield?
what's the easiest tint film to shrink?
Is it true that Tview doesn't shrink?
Is ceramic tint actually better, if so what’s the benefit? What brand of ceramic window tint is recommended? Does it shrink the same way?
they say it
blocks the heat more compared too a carbon film
I use a glove with shrinking back glasses with dryer sheet. Then I hard card it down. Probably could save time and eliminate the glove but after 10 years I've found that I make fewer mistakes and waste less material.
What matereal u use ?
I tried shrink the cheapest gila from autozone on a 06 civic sedan back window and it would not shrink right at all
So I don’t understand if you take the clear backing off befor you shrink it in the outside ???? Not one of the videos I watched says this
About shrinking Llumar atc?
My tint guy uses SUN-X and he doesn’t even shrink it and it comes out perfect every time
😮 it's true
Thank you for spreading your knowledge! I have people wanting to charge me 1-2k for info you are giving out for free on CZcams I appreciate you!!
If a tinter is able to shrink a charger back window with lexen, would you say they are pretty experienced? Since it seems to be a more difficult film to use
For sure! If you can shrink a charger with geo you can shrink most cars out there.
@@DetroitTintStudio haha i also didnt want to sound arrogant or some type of way. Just wanted your opinion from what i saw in the video. Thanks matt!
Have you ever used flexfilm? And if you have, do you think it's any good?
I use it all the time. All I carry. Best film I think around.
yes I use that and have videos of using them on my channel check it out
Can you do a review of Express NR 1.2?
Express 1.2 is pretty much Global quick dry plus 1.2ml. Shrinks very well. I’ve been using it Global/Express since 2005..
try shrinking the PUREMAX line of lexen. apparently that is a high quality film. I just bought some rolls to use as my entry level line of film.
I’ll have to try it out, I’ve heard it recommended more since the shrinking issues so I’m glad some people mention it. Most just say lexen and then people run into this mess cuz they wouldn’t know the difference.
I knew it was the film. Did a charger back window with lexen nd just couldn't get it. Switched to superior charcoal and got it. This damn car had me questioning my life choices.😂😂
Where do you order your tint from
0:46 that’s why I start in the middle push my way out to the edge that’s what I do 🤷🏽♂️
I was literally stressing and frustrated so bas from this today and i use lexen and a semi beginner 😭
Ur definitely not the only one! I see this happen a lot
Without doing more research I want to ask. are you leaving the tint on the outside... or is this being formed to go inside.?
You could just watch one of his many videos where he installs the film.
@@Burns11112 you could have answered my question. but instead you wasted both our time. "inutilis"
@@javis9950 if you really wanted to know you would have watched a video on it in the 2 weeks since you posted this.
What’s the white stuff you use on the windshield to make the trace on the tint?
Glass aid tape
Use a heat gun with heat control, I deal down the heat. Also you can only heat up and down. Do your H pattern and make the lines go up and down...The Yellow cheap gun has no heat control. A heat control gun will keep you from burning your tint when shrinking film..I own a window tint shop ..
Is Pro Nano Ceramic from Geoshield a good choice of tint ?
The 2 mil ply
Yea I use it all the time!
What about Llumar?
I'm new too and I'm having trouble with 3M shirking those hard windshield. Is it the film?
It’s possible, are u an authorized 3M dealer or did U buy it from a random source? Lots of fake films posing as legit brands.
Hey Matt what film u recommend for shirking, I m new in window tinting less then a year i did few cars with scorpion n was ok n the I got some lexen n I mess up all the time, so after I seeing ur video I realized is the film, I was getting frustrated thinking was me. So best film to shrink? I thank you n avance.
What the best tint brand instead of geoshield ?
I added some links to the description. Lots of good options out there. Just stay away from cheap carbon and ceramic films when if ur learning
Dang, just bought a roll of lexen 😂
Won’t name any names but I was beta testing a new film in 2011, I got so pissed off after 3 attempts to shrink a rear windshield that I took the box of film and rolled it across the parking lot then called the rep and told them come pick it up. I immediately went back to regular film and had no problems.
Yes, should've started on the side windows instead on the rear 😂
