- Hi Everyone :)
Welcome back!
I get asked often: "Where did you get all this stuff?" My goal is to share the real magic of science and physics- and to this end I will update here (and in my store) suggestions on where to get some of these toys, kinetic art pieces, and scientific curiosities for yourself.
Purchasing items from the links on these pages will help support my IG page of science and wonder.

👉🏻 Wimshurst Electrostatic Generator: this device uses two counter rotating disks of metal pads to separate charge via induction.
👉🏻 Impossible Bolt: one nut threads on clockwise as normal- the other threads on counterclockwise on the same bolt!
👉🏻 Wireframe Ambiguous Cube: another innovation of the ambiguous object illusion invented by mathematician Kokichi Sugihara of Meiji University- this time a 3D frame of a cube transforms to a cylinder!
👉🏻 Wringing Gauge Blocks: two blocks of metal (not magnets!) will stick together by a process called wringing if their surfaces are flat to high precision- such as these gauge blocks found in most machine shops.
👉🏻 Interactive Logic Gate Display: the most basic four binary/Boolean logic operations that are the fundamental components of modern computers- presented here appropriately on a standard green printed circuit board (PCB) complete with the truth table for each device.
👉🏻 Invisible Ink and UV Pen: this pen utilizes a clear ink that when dry is barely noticeable, but contains fluorescent compounds that reveals its presence under long wave ultraviolet light.
👉🏻 Fire Piston: rapid adiabatic compression creates enough heat to ignite and incinerate a small ball of cotton. Similar physics to how Diesel engines ignite fuel without a sparkplug.
👉🏻 "Pet Tornado": whirlpool powered by a magnetic stirrer (like those in a chemistry lab). The knob on the side has settings F1 through F5 😁 One of my sillier toys- but vortices are just so cool.
👉🏻 Magnetic Cube: a twisty Rubik’s Cube puzzle made from 27 dice and 108 neodymium magnets. This cube includes the scrambled states and solutions of the original 3x3 Rubik’s Cube but is held together only by magnets!
👉🏻 Ooze Tube Viscosity Contrast: this set of ooze tube timers comes with 3 mixtures of polyisobutene fluid, each with a different viscosity where green always wins the race: green (thin), yellow (medium), and red (thickest).
👉🏻 60 Sided Die: a fair die based on the deltoidal hexecontahedron- the only polyhedron that is a completely symmetric hexecontahedron with parallel kite-shaped faces on all opposing sides. What use can you think of for a die with 60 options?
👉🏻 The d120: mathematically this die has the maximum possible number of sides with equal area (discovered so far). Two mathematicians, Robert Fathauer and Henry Segerman, realized that the oddly named uniform convex polyhedron (disdyakis triacontahedron) had the needed geometry to make a 120 sided fair die. Like the familiar 6 sided die, the d120 has the following properties: every side must have equal area and the numbers on parallel sides (top and bottom) must sum to the same number. The inventors admit that they do not have any suggested use for these dice- they made them purely because mathematically it was possible to do so!

Any comments on 120 😀?
00:24 How?
For cheating, if they're spun instead of rolled, like in the video.

insert a magnet into the 60 sided die, and an electromagnet into the base for automatic ejection of a new face

60 and 120 sided die: * Exists *

If you let those gauged block wringed together for a long time, they will be welded together forever.
I really mean on atomic level, you have to laser cut or pressure cut it to see.
the 2 bowls are same size, the closest seems longer because of their trapezoidal shape : optic illusion
but if you look them behind a little box with parallel sides and move the box until only the borders of the bowls are visible, you can see they are same length
0:43 so much for "lefty loosy; righty tightly." This messes with my brain too much! 😆🙂
The bowls at the end are the same size. The shape gives an optical illusion that makes it appear that one is bigger than the other.
The impossible bolt must have a ratcheted mechanism inside so that if you rotate it the inner mechanism spins in the opposite direction making it move in the opposite direction.
Either that or its just black magic.
really dude?
4:36 This is the Rubik's cube I need! I used to take the cubes apart and put them back together to "solve" the puzzle (aka get all the colors back in the right place). Sometimes, I'd peel off the stickers and put them back in the right place to "solve" the puzzle.
Your cube would make it so I wouldn't lose stickers and wouldn't make the cube disjointed after taking it apart and putting it back together again. 🙂
BTW, I still can't solve a Rubik's cube. I'm fascinated by physics and science, but I definitely don't have a brain that works that way. Lol
Same
Cesium pen is not actually pen but just a glass to hold cesium safely
impossible bolt answer.
one is threaded the normal way, the other is threaded the opposite way.
On the impossible bolt, the bolt threads are fixed. Therefore, the internal threads on the nut must have been to the same dimensions as the bolt but nut threads were cut in opposite direction. They will still thread onto the bolt but only one will be the conventional “righty tighty lefty looseie” and the other will be opposite. Classic case of a mirror image.
Yup. It's obvious that one of the nuts has reverse threads cut into it. My dad had an old car with lugnuts that were reverse thread. Literally sheared one of the bolts off trying to brake it loose. I don't even think it's a cool illusion or science gadget or whatever.
The bolt and the nut have to have the same thread direction otherwise the nut simply won't go on. Left hand threaded nut for a left hand threaded bolt and right hand threaded nut for a right hand threaded bolt. You can't mix them up.
My guess is that the bolt has both a left and right hand thread cut in it.
@@dalemacdonald201 This is correct. It wouldn't work if they had opposite thread.
My addiction for magnets is unbelievable, I take old cellphones and Computers and take the magnets within them, the pet tornado one And magnetic cube one is making my addiction more and more added.
2:45 we used to have these pens in our primary school exams for cheating purpose 😂
one nut has non-standard bi-directional threads
one can turn it in any direction, and still choose to move in either on/off directions
I believe the bowls are the same size, it's just that the edges being slanted, bended, and placed in such a way causes our brains to think that the bowl with Yellow and Orange beads is bigger. Possibly because if you think of it like two rectangles and try to unbend them in your head, since the yellow and orange bead bowl is further to the right.
so where was the forever pen?

60 sided die would be a great way to generate a random number sequence for encryption
Same size, but the impression changes with the point of view of the camera ?

Both are of same size.

My favorite was that ignited cotton ball. I assume the same principle works in combustion engines?
no they use spark plugs
@@juaninigom.tresreyes4696 diesel engines don't
Diesel engines yes. Gasoline uses plugs.
Iam watch. That cube again. Repeated bro.
Both the bowls are same size
It's just an optical illusion

Isn't cesium radioactive ?
There is a radioactive isotope, but it doesn't occur naturally.
I liked the forever pen. LOL!

same size
The one nut is reversed thread the other normal
Both of the sides are of same size the angles and the way you keep them tricks the brain its an illusion
It's an optical illusion because of their shape. They are the same size.
A forever pen?? Ha! who can keep a pen for over three months? And that's when they never even leave the house. Ha ha.
A use for those dice? Ultra Hiper Super Mega Blaster Master Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
60 places to go to dinner?
let's see, the bowl with (B)lue and (G)reen is smaller than the bowl with (O)range and (Y)ellow because the "O" in (O)range is physiclly the largest letter of the four colors. BUT ACTUALLY they are of equal size BECAUSE; if we take the first bowl and subtract (B)lue from (G)reen we get 5, then we subtract (O)range from (Y)ellow, we also get 10. Since 10 is the next in sequence when counting by "5's" and therefore they are bowls of equal size.
The only truth in this explanation is "... 10 is the next in sequence when counting by "5's"" and "...they are bowls of equal size.". Just in the case that someone reads this and decides to believe it. IT'S A PHONY EXPLANATION for a true answer, they are equal.
Both are of the same size and same shape.
UV pen i am use for cheating😂😁
both are of the same size
You are intelligent
