    This video contains:
👉🏻 Copycoder: clever use of an array of cylindrical lenses to scramble and unscramble large font messages- a modern "secret code" toy.
👉🏻 Undial Sundial: modern design of an ancient timekeeping device where a slanted stick (the gnomon) casts a shadow to indicate the time (this one designed for 30-40 degrees latitude). This novel design has no dial underneath, instead the hours are laser etched into clear acrylic such that the time appears projected within the cast shadow. 10 AM to 3:00 PM of a sunny day in Fresno are shown here in time-lapse.
👉🏻 Tesla’s Egg of Columbus: a copper ellipsoid egg (PhiTOP) mysteriously spins and stands upright in this modern version of Tesla’s famous demonstration from the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago that first showcased the principles behind wireless power transfer and his AC induction motor. Rotating magnetic fields from under the wooden platform induce electric eddy currents to flow in the copper PhiTOP- these currents then create their own magnetic field which oppose the initial fields underneath and pushes the PhiTOP to spin.
👉🏻 Buoyancy Discrepant Event: wood that sinks and a rock that floats!- a study in density properties of ironwood and pumice.
👉🏻 Cylindrical Infinity Candle: a simple geometry produces a dramatic effect- a single tea light is reflected multiple times in the partially mirrored glass cylinder, with each image of the flame a bit more distorted/stretched due to the concave interior surface.
👉🏻 Poly Density Puzzle: my favorite science brain teaser.
👉🏻 Convection Turbine Tree: a simple turbine heat engine where rotational motion results from the convection of hot air from the candle flame. All moving parts are of thin stainless steel. Energy transfer: chemical bonds- to heat- to kinetic energy of the rising air- to rotational kinetic energy of the turbine and tree.
👉🏻 Butterfly Mendocino Motor: an elegant version of this motor with only two photovoltaic cells mounted with care to ensure precision balance. This motor will spin quietly to high RPMs on any sunlit windowsill. In this model each of the two photovoltaic solar cells is connected to a coil of copper wire under the opposing solar cell. When the rotor is lit from above the top solar cell provides electric current to the coil in the bottom position which becomes a temporary electromagnet that pushes against the two mounted rectangular permanent magnets propelling the rotor to rotate. As the rotor turns, the coil that moves into the bottom position is likewise energized by the solar cell currently at the top- one can say the light commutates this motor. 2D magnetic levitation is provided by permanent magnets where an acrylic plate constrains the third dimension, and makes for a nice bearing surface for minimal friction. Invented in the 1960s by Daryl Chapin of Bell Labs and popularized by Larry Springs of Mendocino CA
    👉🏻 RGB Lightpipe Rave Bracelet
👉🏻 USA Copper Spinning Top: a ceramic silicon nitride sphere is precisely placed at the center of mass- allowing this copper plate of the US to spin like a top!
👉🏻 Liquid Crystal Window: thermotropic liquid crystals go from opaque to transparent during a phase change from a crystal to liquid state. With this “clasping hands charm” an image of Fodo Myoo is revealed by the warmth of the hands. Found this physics toy in a souvenir shop in the Tokyo International Airport.

With the beads, my guess is that there are two immiscible liquids of different densities. The density of one is a little higher than the blue beads. The density of the other is lower than that of both the blue and white beads. There are thus 4 different densities present; upper liquid, white beads, blue beads and lower liquid, in order of increasing density. When shaken, the liquids mix. This mixture has an intermediate density; higher than the white beads, but lower than the blue ones. After the shaking stops, the liquids gradually separate as the liquid of lower density floats to the top, restoring the original 4 layers,. The two liquids are both colourless, and must have near identical refractive indices. light does therefore not reflect from the interfaces between them and they thus appear to be a single liquid.

The blue and the white beads are two different densities, that when shaken the liquid and air mix, making the liquid less dense and the beads separate.

I remember as a kid many years ago. We had a Christmas ornament that would spin, if you hung above a Christmas tree light bulb ! This was back in the 50s !!!

I like the little Xmas tree circuit board. Especially if it is a diy kit. I try to find simple, yet educational things like that to do with my nephew. I don't think he's learned anything in school yet about electrical components or connections.

What’s funny about the Tesla egg, is that’s how I tell if my eggs are hard boiled or not.(if they are they stand up like that) (if not they wobble).

That Tesla Egg of Columbus is not right - that is a spinning motor with magnets underneath. The real one, see the wiki page, has coils of wire solenoid electromagnets that are phased to create a rotating magnetic field from ac current.

The water temporarily changes its density by a small fraction due to minute air bubbles forming? (and the beads are made to very exact standards for this to work)
Now I'm not going to watch further, to find out the answer,
so who's going to tell me if I'm correct?
