👉🏻 Fluorescence of Lapis Lazuli: A polished sphere of lapis lazuli, blue with the mineral lazurite, evokes the form of a banded planet with swaths and speckles of other minerals such as calcite, pyrite, sodalite, and hauynite. The beam of a long wave UV flashlight reveals an astonishing transformation of appearance where the banding on the sphere glows bright yellow via fluorescence of the hauynite inclusions. The colorful glow comes from complex quantum mechanical behavior where molecules of some of the minerals absorb high energy UV photons and then emit this energy out in the form of lower energy photons- the physics of fluorescence.

The word “tomato” does get flipped, but it remains the same since all its letters have horizontal symmetry. Awesome video btw.

Great video. The rod acts as a double convex (converging) lens. If the Green Tomato object is placed outside the focal length of the rod, you'll see an inverted real image through the rod. It just so happens that the capital letters in TOMATO flip around the vertical axis of the rod (lens) symmetrically. If you place the rod close to the object you'll actually get a "magnifying glass" effect. Cool!!!

The word "Tomato" contains all symmetrical letters however "Green" is all unsymmetrical, so it looks like it only affects the word green but it affects both and just doesn't look like it.
I have a wooden balancing wine rack that a neighbor gave us along with a bottle of wine as a hand made gift when we bought our current house. We love it.
This riddle isn't even physics. It's just the fact that the word Tomato is made entirely of symmetrical letters.
The trick is that the letters in TOMATO are mirror image horizontally. They have been reversed in the lens as has GREEN, but it doesn't seem to have changed.
Tomato is reverted too, but it is total symetric, so we can't see it.
