Replacing Floor Pans In My Square Body Crew Cab - Vice Grip Garage EP99
Vložit
- čas přidán 24. 09. 2020
- On this episode, I'll finish up the crew cab metal replacement (so far) by dropping in new floor pans and inner rocker panels. The outer rocker panels were replaced in a previous episode. After fabricating a few smaller patches, I'll seam-seal the welds, rust treat, and primer the joints, then por 15 the panels. In the future, I'll undercoat and seal the bottom side of the crew cab to finish off the project. Coming up will be a vintage air, air conditioning system, and Dakota digital gauges.

I love how Derek is keeping Tonya Hardings LEGacy alive. 🤣
ooooo snap!
What about the Lorena Bobitt legacy ?
Its very telling of someone's age, if you even get the joke. Yes, I've had to explain it to people.
@@RTWGraphics yep. North side of 50 here.
4x4Scout HAHAHA
Well, I'll be dipped. I just figured something out.
He started this channel so his family wouldn't think he was crazy talking to himself whilst working on vehicles.
I think he watched Dora The Explorer for tips first. Good Job Derek, keep it coming! Just don't weld the Tanya Harding to the floor pan or you'll cuss like Tonya does, and she cusses to shame a trucker.
I'm.
"Im just going to flatten this out, tink tink tink.... RAAaaaHhhH! HYAH!!!! RAAAAAAAAAGH!" I had a great laugh at that one! Thank you sir
I keep catching myself closing my eyes and looking away when you start welding.
Is it strange that I thumbs up these videos before I watch
Appreciate it
I do the same.
I would thumbs up every time he says " I'll be dipped "
I do too and never regret my decision.
I've never seen a VGG vidja that I didn't thoroughly enjoy watching. Kinda wish there was an auto updoot checkbox so I couldn't forget.
Ray Charles welding with his left foot.... Ya made a fella spill his cold snack!!!
Looks good from my house!
That part got me too... I've been welding most of my life.. And that was a new one
@@jamesnorris998 that's a little nod to Finnegan.....
My dad always said, looks good from my house, or my favorite " good enough for government work".
LMAO!
That's kind of what I say to if I don't see from my house I don't care LOL
Every episode proves more and more why this is my favorite channel. Gets better every week. Thanks for the video.
Thanks!!
I'm 60 years old, been working on cars and stuff since I was 12, Derek I feel your pain when simple things go sideways. Great videos man. This is the first channel I ever subscribed to. Now I'm subscribed to all your friends channels. Great entertainment for an old guy.
9:20 🤣🤣🤣. This is hands down the best channel on CZcams.
A feller has more knowledge in his left earlobe and more talent in his right big toe than I’ll ever have... just a pleasure to watch ya work!
His a back to basics kind of guy. He can make any thing run because he get what in takes. Timing, compression, air , fuel and ignition. If you have all five it will run. How well it will run is up to the variables. Air fuel ratio. How much compression. Time in advance and quality of fuel.
One of the things I love about Derek and VGG is how genuine the content is. It all feels real and genuine, like we are being drawn into part of the life, almost like friends or family. A lot of CZcamsrs lose that when they get a lot of subscribers, yet even with over 1million subs, Derek stays genuine and doesn't try to change the way he is. Respect and kudos. This is what keeps me coming back for more.
I don’t usually play through the ads, but with your channel I do because...well.. it’s the right thing to do!
Derek you are by far the most entertaining CZcamsr on the innerwebs! Thank you for this channel and the comical relief it brings to the madness called life!
Bodywork is just...........I DONT LIKE IT!!!!!! Had me roaring. 🤣🤣🤣
I almost passed out........
I was watching so intensely I kinda jumped out of my skin.
Best intro ever, watching a guy's soul leave his body.
We've all beeen there man, all of us...... [silent_scream]
Love your channel Derek, you help motivate me to work on my rigs, sometimes with cold snacks. You always put a smile on my face brother. : ) I'm out of room, driveway's full a guy needs more land.
Both sides of my family were from North Dakota and Minnesota, moved to Oregon and brought Ufda with them along with other sayings I don't remember now. Both my grandmas spoke Norwegian, and English. I still use it to remember them mostly. Growing up my friends made fun of me, wait they still do, Doh! lol
I'm English and I had to look up why your calling your hammer Tanya harding. Well I'll be dipped was my reaction
Tanya was my nieghbor in Vancouver WA. She was known for tilting a few back. One evening she didn't quite make it back home. Parked her F350 in the ditch a few yards from the turn out to her house. Washington State patrol had a few questions for her...
Derek's quote's with an english accent is a whole channel just waiting to happen
Tonya.
@@spaceinvadertoo bro.
@@markhightower647 same, I remember that happening... She hit someone in the forehead with a hubcap or something too. Crazy broad
I like this series even if Derek doesn't like replacing floorpans but in South-africa we don't even have replacing parts.
Can you find sheet steel? Cut up old car doors and hoods? Bead rollers and hammers work well for forming them if you have patience. We're just lazy over here.
@@tiporari nothing like road sign floor pans to make a project that much more unique 👍
That's why cheap guys don't throw out license plates.
@florida suburban homesteading ...and plenty of Bondo.
I rebuilt my old VW using discarded cabinet metal. It wasn't falling but it passed safety.
Derek seems to be reaching a new level of unhinged this year and it makes me feel better about also reaching a new level of unhinged this year
this man should win an Oscar, as the cable guy slides into second place. But as an old mechanic myself with many hours of body work I say hes the man.
I like how I'll often be watching a VGG video and think... that thing is just garbage... it's just way too far gone... oh, it's even worse than I thought... it's a waste of time to even mess with that... well I'll be dipped, he sure did improve on it some, but it's still junk... wow, that part turned out nice, maybe it's not so bad after all... hey, that's turning out pretty good... I just don't believe it, that's really nice now... man, I sure would like to have that.
Keep up the great work!
I definitely thought that about the stars and stripes chevelle, He still ain't done with it though.
It's a rust bucket.
@@exceptformeandmymonkey6964He'll get there, don't worry about that.
@@spaceinvadertoo oh,I know but just what he did to the frame and floorboards surprise the hell out of me.
I wouldn't have touched that car with a 10 ft pole.
I'm really looking forward to see what he does with the body.
A feller's gotta believe it. A feller's lookin' right at it!
I’ll be dipped!
"All I gonna do it flatten this out , Ting ting ting... YAAAAAAAOOOOO YAAAAAAAOOOOO OOOUUUCCCHH. I'm telling you, a feller really almost died eating while watching VGG. Keep on being that great, congrats for the 400k, believe you me you'll be at level 500 before christmas ain't kidding you
2023 rewatch, let the kids and wife catch up!..when we got together, she wasnt much on cars and i feel like these videos and getting the understanding of the car community and the passion for it, she calls out old vehicles and notices noises and has a good diagnosis! The indepth of this video like you said most people don't show this in builds but it has to be done!
The first 18 seconds in this video was probably the best intro i have ever seen. A guy can´t wait for the rest of the video!
Vice grip vid drops-I click immediately. Woohoo!
Appreciate it
👍
@@ViceGripGarage Do you appreciate it really? I dooont knoooow.
Why wouldn't I
@@ViceGripGarage I just wanted to say "I dooont knoooow"
That is with out doubt the best sanding scene on youtube period.
Are you the bass player from Deep Purple and Black Country Communion Glenn Hughes ?
With all that's happening in the world right now, watching you makes it all go away for a little bit. Thank you for letting me watch all you do. The only complaint I have is I need more.
That's going to be a badass truck when you're done and I can't wait to see it finished
My grandma was from Minnesota. And she was the only other person I had ever heard say “Oof-dah”. Thanks for reminding me Derek.
The movie Fargo and subsequent miniseries cottoned me on to it myself. I use it now and then, to Tonya Harding people.
My wife is from Iowa, and her parents were originally from far northern Iowa, might as well have been Minnesota. I hear it on a regular basis. People down here in Texas look at her strangely when she says it.
My late uncle used to say Oof-dah brings back memories of him
My mom was from St. Paul, still have relatives there. Chuckled when I heard Oof dah, spit out my Schmidts
My dad is from north Central Minnesota, and he said oof-dah too. Unless he Tanya'd his thumb, then a string of Norse obscenities would form a small mushroom cloud over the farm.
You give a fella just enough confidence to go fixin on his own rig. Dang it!
You can do it! 👍
I believe that is the main point of the videos.
The quality of the education Derek is providing makes a feller think he should be paying tuition. Thanks for the great content that is excellently produced.
What a great resource for anyone wanting to attempt this type of work. I can't help but imagine, what if CZcams was around 27 years ago when I was messing with cars, rusty floor pans and rockers panels. Thanks.
Uffda! Norway loves your show, Derek!
Douglas Bader Wisconsin does too
East Coast Canada does as well! Uffda!
The nature creater Som han sier: godt nok under seamseal, isolasjon og tepper
Texas too!
Lillehammer
He went FULL banana sandwich with the Tonya Harding.
My 8 year old calls them Tonya Hardings.... my wife almost pissed her pants lmao
You know, I've been subscribed to your channel for quite the while now.
I hear your comments and sayings.
You always do fix things the right way, you have a most enjoyable channel and it is a great way, for anyone who's handy enough that wants to build / repair their own cars / pickup trucks, to see how it can be done.
I enjoy your channel tons, so keep on wrenching.
Be well, be safe and stay healthy so a guy ( or a gal ) can do some think- a- lating on what you are fixing on...
Is it just me or is anyone else really excited to see this truck finished?
"Pneumatic cave man" lol
😅🤠
Seems like it should be pneumatic Tanya Harding
I can't wait for the episodes to come, installing the engine and trans with everything all clean and painted. And then finally can't wait for the startup and test drives!
the best show going, period. This channel is going to be huge. Hope we don't lose him to the networks.
I’ll never understand how people dislike dereks videos. Always great stuff🤘🏼🇺🇸
On vacation and enjoyin the vidya...great info your sendin out to the masses
Thank you
I ALWAYS turn up the volume to hear him talk at first and then that intro ALWAYS blows my ear drums out lol
I'll remember to turn down intro next time.
No, no i won't.
@@jeremyboyle5695 yeah pretty much haha, " you know, a guy should turn down the digicals but..he just shouldn't care"
The intro just lets everyone in the surrounding area is about to learn the meaning of life !😊
Do do do do do do do do do do do do
I've been watching you a long time now. And it keeps getting more better
I like seeing how the work is done
It's always a good day when you come home and a new VGG is on the ole CZcamss! Though im sure putting in those self tapping screws was frustrating at the time it was comedic gold. Had my wife and I laughing so hard we had to pause the video!!
Good point. It's very important to think things through. I've thought it through and I'm never going to do this ever. Thanks for the heads up.
Dude, your timing is impeccable. Just what I need to kill the rest of my workday.
It is a simple matter of shutting down mentally for less than a minute and clearing your mind. Concentrate on the exact moment when you expect another hiccup that moment will pas and they will be gone. Works EVERY time. I promise.
Vice Grip Garage is pure American Badass period.!👍
Sorry Matt’s off road recovery, Derek put up a new vidja,
I went with Matt's first lol.
@@Kevintherubiconjeep confession time. Lol
Now , Now....There's plenty of time for Matt & Derek Boys🆗
Sorry Matt's first, his are much shorter.😎😎
Awesome job Derek ,really enjoyed this episode 👍
Thanks!!
Dude. Derek. Your one of a kind. Nothing more I can say.
I know you hate it, but its grand to watch you actually fix rust holed panels and fit new metal. My son and I were watching some of your vids last week and his OCD was EXPLODING out of him like you wouldn't believe. This vid will soothe his blood pressure no end🤣
" ... a Tonya Harding." Never gets old. 😂
iMouse I was in a hardware shop in Dubbo NSW Australia when the bloke in front of me asked for a big Tonya. The guy serving didn't ask what a Tonya Harding was, he asked what size he wanted.
Always a good day when you upload
Awesome build to follow Derek! Very inspiring!!
When the tools kick in it really draws attention to a guy watching these videos at work when he should be working.
YEA BUDDDY!!! A Guys got something to watch now!!!!
Okay - panel beater rookie here, just learned something new.
Drop in panels for repairs using overlap.
Replacement panels for direct replacement using factory butt welds. (Guess its meant for crash - not rust - repairs.)
Darned - that truck of yours sure looks good to its age. You found a top one.
Let's discuss the elephant in the room, that Corvair sitting in the background.
Derek, use cleco clamps instead of those self tapping screws. Much easier. They were developed for the aircraft industriy. This is Jim Wetzel. Sher is my wife.
I'm off too, enjoying it right now with a wobble pop. Great info
Everyone who knows anything knows John anderson is just sitting on his front porch just a swingin'
with Charlotte Johnson !!!
I just said the same thing then read the comments. So I just deleted mine. Lol
Naw .... he got time marchin’ on. And someone is smokin a lot of dope ..... Probably. Lol
Isn’t that Tracey’s Lawrence? 🤔
Joseph Jessop ya time marches on was Tracey.
Ive watched 234.64 episodes out of 99 episodes a feller just loves watching them
Guaranteed cure for hiccups. Spoonful of table sugar works every time. Learned a bit about rust repair today. Thanks.
I wouldn't ask John Anderson many questions, Friday night might be his Straight Tequila Night, and he may be Just A Swangain, lol. Love your content brother please keep it up. Gotta get me some VGG gear soon, if the wife likes me maybe she'll get me some stuff for Christmas.
I agree, if I start doing floor pans, somebody slap me!
Yupppp-floors-great.. nice intro..and that camera flyby on the company's lift decal... nice touch.
I so look forward to new VGG posts. Derek looks so much like my nephew Kevin! This is like family time! Plus I've learned stuff!
i will say, going back in the time machine and watching your first videos to the videos you do now, you have really upped your game, Keep up the awesome content Vice Grip Garage!
I just love the mozzeltof mentality when a guy is already dug in.
I know what John Anderson is doing today, cuz I had a tape, he's obviously "a swingin" thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week!!!
So satisfying to see all the nice clean primer where before it was all rusty. Makes a guy wanna go buy a rust bucket and start hacking and welding stuff on it.
I fell asleep in my garage watching CZcams. I woke up to Vice Grip Garage and I’ll be dipped, I’m glad I did.
Awesome welcome aboard
Anybody else look away when Derek is welding to avoid eye damage?
Every time
Dang it, a guy just can't help not doing it!
Ya I do 😎
"I just need to beat this in with the Tonya Harding..." It NEVER gets old!!! LMAO
Life is good when you got a lift and 20ft ceiling shop.Looking at my small garage and floor jacks."sigh". Love ya buddy.
Had a crap day and what the Dr. prescribed was a big dose of VGG. After a few good giggles and a cold snack this feller feels much better. Thanks Derek !! And next time when your welding without the mask, remember to look directly at the pretty blue light. 👀👀👀👀
When I replace floors I always do the right thing and use all the scrap just laying around. How about that, green engineering. It just bottles the mind.
Omg, almost fell off my chair with the Ray Charles left hook welds......Hilarious as usual!!
Don't forget to set up your scaffolding so you can get up to the work area on your truck, it is much safer than lowering the lift.
Thanks for the close-up detailed video. I have some floor pans to replace soon.
You bet thanks for watching
Man... pure joy when I see you've uploaded....
"I got a little OCD goin on here." Hahahahaha. Takes one to know one! Now I know why I follow you. Thanks for making me feel normal.
Two thumbs up for square body crew cab vids!!
Your instructional videos are off the charts. Thankyou and great job.
Thanks Scott

Andy Taylor yah don't buy it, yah just rent it.
im glad im not the only one that reacts to body work that way
Love it. Super bodywork and comedy, what a combination.
great way to spend my Friday evening, cheers Derek !!!! you crack me up!
Cheers!
I wish I had the tools, space, and courage to attempt something like this.
My Lord, this truck would look super cool brought back to its original orangey/brown colour!
Can't wait to see that Crew Cab finished up and rolling purdy!
John Anderson told me hes just a swingin while feeling that Seminole wind. ;)
When your given her all ya got with the ole thumb detector it helps to keep yelling, “get ya some”. Thanks for the video👍
100th episode coming up! Congrats Derek, y'all put a lot in your videos and it shows...
Thanks
Derek, In the beginning, you say "huff da" - funny as this appears as a Norwegian expression probably survived among the immigrants to your area. Keep on the good work!
Your show gives me a flashback to my school days when I worked at a scrap yard recovering parts from salvaged wrecks in the 70ties. Disassembling the Beetle engines with the old flame wrench was one of the specialties then.
She's coming along nicely, you've earned a cold snack or two for sure.
“vice-grip-a-lated”
All these vice grips looked like icicles haha
Vice-icles
Great Job! I learned a lot. Thank you for taking me along!
Gotta put a piece of Saran Wrap on top of the paint can before you put the lid on. Helps a guy get it off in the future. That POR15 will weld the lid on RIGHT NOW!
