    In this video I’m going to be giving initial impressions of the Moza Racing R9 direct drive system.
    This is touted as the cheapest direct drive system on the market, and includes wheel, wheelbase, pedals, and mounting clamp.

    Thanks for this preview Mike. I'm almost certain this could be? my next wheel, based on the fact that I could only ever afford gear/belt driven type setups (like the G29). And speaking of that, if you haven't done a lot of your FULL review yet. My feeling is that it is a MISTAKE for a lot of channels comparing this to the higher end DD wheels of 9nm and above. Because to me - the person that is going to buy this, is (usually?) going to compare this to the Logitech G29X & Thrustmaster lower end wheels. So I'm personally more interested in how it compares to these wheels???. Just saying.... [:]-)

      My thoughts exactly. I am looking to upgrade from a G29 that I've had forever and I never had a belt driven wheel to know the difference between the two. This would be a brand new experience and don't want to spend an outrageous amount of money for a new DD wheel.

    Always love your hardware reviews, Mike. Really comprehensive and superbly presented. It would have been interesting to compare the R5 across multiple sim titles in your main review just to see if the pithouse presets struggle in certain sims. Also, please give some feedback on that new brake performance kit!

    I have this unit. The pedal mod is great BUT... If you are an entry-level racer and do NOT have a cockpit, the brake pedal mod makes the brakes unusable and way too heavy. So for entry-level pedals for someone who plays at a desk, it's perfect.

  • @matthewcoleman8267
    @matthewcoleman8267 Před rokem +1

    I have this wheel, stepping up from a G27. It's a massive improvement. If you aren't mounting the pedals to a base, I wouldn't recommend the brake mod, whilst it improves it greatly, you can't use it cause the whole base lifts up.
    Also, for the ES wheel, they've released a new outer rim in the formula style where you swap out the middle (takes 5 mins max). It's a bargain at $40. Means you get to rims for not much money.
    I'm in the process of saving up for a proper rig to mount everything to. Once it's hard mounted I think I'll be super happy.

      Did you finish your rig? Im in somewhat the same position, i got the r9, cs wheel and crp pedals (yeah they are expensive, but hopefully will last for a long time) and need to buy/build a rig now. Not sure what route to go, most likely i go DIY and make it myself.

    Love the ON TRACK ACTION REVIEW in real time.. Yeah that's the way to do it Mike! I'm building an updated 3DOF rig and going with Direct Drive this time.. Juggling the differences between the Budget class CLS DD/Moza 5 and the better DD's you suggested with 20+Nm.. I'm just not sure yet.. But Gotta make a decision pretty soon as I'm in the middle of a series and still have no DD wheelbase.. Your quick opinion please.. CSL DD or Moza? or just skip to the more pricey bracket.. ?? Thanks Mike.. DMAX

    All I've ever had and used is an Xbox 360 steering wheel and pedal set. I'm going to be going from that to this Moza R5 combo I just bought mine yesterday so it should be here in a week. I hope

    I'm amazed that you can drive that well while also talking the whole time. I used to have G29 a few years back for GT Sport and I'm looking to get back into Sim racing. This seems like a really nice bundle for a really reasonable price. If I stick with it for a couple of years I might even splash out and get a nicer wheel and possibly a better set of pedals but that would only happen if I was really getting into it.

    Hi everyone,i am thinking to buy a direct drive wheel system.
    1.Moza r5 bundle with sr-p lite break kit and f1 wheel mod.
    2.Fanatec CSL DD (5nm) with mclaren gt3 v2 ,quick release adapter.
    What do you prefer?
    I heard that the r5 has some heating issues and in f1 game when you are cornering it loses some force feedback details.
    I am so much confused what to buy actually
    Drop your suggestions

    Question for ya. I have a g29 and am racing nascar on iracing. I feel like it’s slowing me down due to the loss of feel and the choppy turning of the gears. This direct drive seems like it will do the trick without eating my wallet. How big of a difference is there between this and the g29?

    • @SimRacing604
      @SimRacing604  Před 8 měsíci

      Short answer? Massive difference. You’ll probably spend the first several hours in disbelief of what you’ve been missing. Thats not exclusive to the Moza R5, it’s the jump to DD from belt or gear drive. You’ll never go back.

      Virtually anything is a huge upgrade over a G27. The G27 has, what, around 2nm of torque? The R5 would feel like a quantum leap (especially the increase in wheel rotation speed and detail).

    i think i rather get logitech pro without the pedals to save some $$$ and use my g27 pedals. The Monza R5 seems very good but it feels like eventually you will want to get a more powerful wheel so you end up spending more money later. with logitech wheel, i know i wont be upgrading the wheel for many years.

    • @cyklopPL
      @cyklopPL Před rokem

      Be careful, pedals are also very important part of your setup. If you get a great wheel but mediocre pedals your lap times will suffer due to mostly poor break
