Dope build. Had a 2013 that I did a lot of the same stuff to. Really like that headlight. Sold it a few years ago and got the Ducati Hyper 939SP. It's awesome, but I still miss that beast sometimes.

Sick BRP dude! Picking mine up this weekend. Question about the front fender. Does the CRF450 front fender come with the window for routing the front wiring? If not, how did you go about the wiring?
This is the fender I bought. They now list it for the XR650L. (Polisport UFX Free Flow Front Fender CR Red for Honda XR650L 2012-2017) But you know as well as I, the XR has been the same pretty much since the 90’s. When I bought it the area where the mounting holes were was slightly raised and I added a couple of washers to make the gap larger. I had to modify the hole pattern slightly mount the fender itself. You’ll see if you decide to buy one, it’s pretty easy to modify and mount. Maybe now they have adjusted the mold to make it easier. But like I said, it’s pretty easy to get it mounted up. And for 45 buck looks pretty good on it. Best of luck!

I have a 1998. Its still all stock lol. Interested in doing the LED lights with the diode kit and new relay. But what really interests me is getting rid of the smog shit. I'm not very mechanically inclined but like doing things myself. I do the oil changes.
I have another vid on here where i put led turnsignals on it. I didnt change anything but the signals. Same relay, no diode kit..just pulled the incandescente bulb out of the dash and it works fine. as far as the smog delete..if you can change the oil on you bike you can do the smog delete...literally takes like 15..20 min. to do. theres probably a video here on you tube to do it. the kit is around 30 bucks. you can get it on amazon.

not at all. i actually read the same thing, which made me skeptical at first. especially when contemplating dropping a good chunk of change for the system. When your installing, the recommended manufacturers directions, is to use a high temp silicone gasket maker/sealent at the connection. They even recommend doing this when you repack the muffler, when you slide cannister back on, use a thin layer at the bottom. I never had a problem with leaks following the recommended install and service. And the sound is aweome, really pops and make a noticeable performance improvement, when you install header, muffler, upgraded airfilter(i used k&n), and stage one jet kit.( i used dyno jet.)
The difference i noticed with the pipe was, I bought the full exhaust system, header and muffler. Yes, it was alot lighter then the stock set up for sure. You will also notice it in the lower end, the bikes throttle response was much faster at the lower end. And believe it or not, your gas consumption increases alittle bit because you have to put in, at least, a stage one jet kit. The pegs...I bought the pegs off Amazon..I literally just types in xr650l foot pegs and the one I bought came up, and I was pleasantly surprised. I canr remember the name of the manufacturer tho..sorry..ill look in my Amazon history for you and post it if I find it. But, nice, quality, bullet aluminum, cheap..and no complaints.
I've done the smog removal, the air filter, the pegs, handlebar risers, put a rear rack. Different mirrors. So far not ambitious enough to change the pipe or move the battery but I absolutely love my bike. I've had many bikes over many years and I just love riding this bike. It has the most fun power band and I'm starting to like the handling.
Bike looks great I’m thinking of super Moto wheels for mine. Your next MOD you should get rid of that carb and go with a FCR carburetor or lectron even 42 mm mikuni anything but that CV stock carburetor. A lot of these carburetors come with new throttle cables and housing which is a plus because that XR 650 L throttle cable is a piece of crap.
Could you point me in the direction of the smog delete plates? I could always weld the two outlet tubes shut, as I do like the look of the chrome bars across the front of the block.
Amazon. Just type in Xr650l smog delete. You will get a couple of options. I think i went with the "amazon choice" like 25 bucks. And went that route just cause theyre all pretty much the same.
Hey jack, just an f.y.i. everything on the bike..either in this video or the second was bought through amazon. with the exception of the rim protectors..vid 2 the new seat cover was bought off ebay. and the headlight was bought online from rocky moutian atv. And also, which isnt shown in either video..the uograded front spoket...i HIGHLY recommend doing that, cheap..and saves alot of money in the long run. The upgraded front sprocket was also purchased from rocky mountain atv...online.

no i have not bought a rear fender, the light i bought mounts in the same position. They do make them tho, I just didnt really care for the ones ive seen. Meire makes them.
I got the headlight from “Rocky Mountain Atv” just put xr650l led headlight in search. And I got the tail light off of Amazon. Same deal…xr650l taillight. I believe Rocky Mountain has the tail light as well. I believe it’s made by western power sports. Will fit right in factory fender. Remove that whale tail eye sore that’s on there. The fender will look like the 650r fender. Fits right in the groove. I high suggest buying the extra bulb they suggest you buy. Mines been on for a couple years now..but ya never know. Best of luck.
no not at all...in the other vid I posted i even installed l.e.d. turn signals..with no modifications to the signal or the pipe. if some one had to mod the turn signal..they didn't have the right pipe. bolts right up.

@@629ripley yes I did the dynojet...I live in wisconsin..so im at about 700' where I am. I installed the stage one, I believe I used the 160 for the main. the research I did said for my set up...fmf header and exhaust, k&n filter, the stage one is all I needed. if you intend to mod the motor more..cam, etc. you can move on to the stage 2. bike did noticeably idle high, but definitely has a faster throttle response. I've read that the lectron carb works incredible in these machines. Just not sure about pulling the trigger on a 700 dollar carb. Bike runs real nice with the set up..no back firing..at all, smooth idle, and nice throttle response.
Is that JNS headlamp a lot better than stock? Debating on that vs. $25 ebay LED headlamp and then I'll be adding 2 cube lights as well. Probably 1 flood and 1 spot

while it is much brighter then the stock one and its l.e.d...if the terrain your riding at night is gnarly..i would suggest the spot and flood as well.
yes it is high/low beam. low beam the 2 side ones light..high beam the middle turns on. There is a running light, will be a red wire wired into the main plug on the head light itself. you can either run a seperate switch, or like i did, and just wired it to the "on"..turn key to in and it comes on. And yes, it works with the stock high/low beam switch. You literally just plug it in to the bike factory plug. Then wire the running light. when you view the video and it shows the headlight..the running light is on the bottom runs horizontally under the side and middle lamps.

totally, i have a larger gas tank i use when off road, used it in baja and just went from reno to plumas county almost all off road, but you also need a chase vehicle, so we tend to re fuel from the chase. cause i tend not to pay attention like i should lol
that is the factory rear fender. The aftermarket tail light fits right over the mounting area where the factory tail light goes. the only downfall is, the aftermarket tail light doesn't have a light for your license plate. I have never ran into a problem with this, but cops are different all over.
I also forgot to talk about the upgrade I believe is a must do...www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3175/83898/Primary-Drive-Front-Sprocket-Upgrade?v=12754 I dont know if you've already done it, but it's a small, inexpensive upgrade that will stop the chances of uneven wear on your counter shaft and splines.
@@michaeldavis5565 Ordered the sprocket a few days ago. Did you have to bore out the throttle tube in order to install the handguards? I imagine grips would have to be cut as well.
@@brb4huskers no I did not have to bore the bars, but yes you do have to cut the end of the grips and cut like a eighth to a quarter of an inch off the plastic throttle tube. You will see how much you have to cut, I went about an eighth of an inch to expose about an eight of an inch of the bar.
@@michaeldavis5565 Got a fcr mx 41 carb for mine. Runs 1000 times better with instant throttle response and power wheelies in 2nd from just rust a roll on. Now just needs to update the look. Do you have a link for the front fender? Also been searching around for an mx style rear fender but haven't had any luck.

The headlight was purchased from rocky mountain atv, search jns engineering headlight for xr650l. the pegs were also bought off amazon. exhaust system from revzilla. the brush guards were bought from rocky mountain atv. I have also recently bought red shock sox 13" off amazon and some avs short brake and clutch levers directly from avs inventions.
for some odd reason i cant share the link...so, i got it from amazon, type, "western power sports universal tail light" and i suggest you buy the othe bulbs with it too, just scroll down and youll see the "frequently bought together" and it will have the bulbs. i also purchased led turnsignals from amazon, and installed them on the bike, i have had no problems at all with them..i posted another video with them on the bike. looks good, works great.
totally, when i bought it in 2016, the 450l wasnt available, and im a bigger guy so the 250 want cutting it. I put about 1700 into. Paid 6000, so im at about 7700. Ive test drove the l, its very nice, i do like the 650 just because the amout of travel the rear suspension has. While the 450l is at 11,000 dollars and pretty needy maintenance schedual. So what i use it for the 7700 is about the ceiling. Believe me im irritated with the 1700, but you gotta make it your own reguardless of what it is.
It looks really nice. I just bought a 2023 model. I had a 1994 in the past, and here I am, back on one. Great bikes!

They’re alittle lighter, but mostly just for the looks. I paid 800 total when I purchased them.

yes, i really like it. Whata nice is you dont have to do anything to your stater, or a restrictor due ro the led. Pretty much plug and play.

I dont know if you've already done it, but it's a small, inexpensive upgrade that will stop the chances of uneven wear on your counter shaft and splines.
@@michaeldavis5565 Ordered the sprocket a few days ago. Did you have to bore out the throttle tube in order to install the handguards? I imagine grips would have to be cut as well.
@@brb4huskers no I did not have to bore the bars, but yes you do have to cut the end of the grips and cut like a eighth to a quarter of an inch off the plastic throttle tube. You will see how much you have to cut, I went about an eighth of an inch to expose about an eight of an inch of the bar.
@@michaeldavis5565 Got a fcr mx 41 carb for mine. Runs 1000 times better with instant throttle response and power wheelies in 2nd from just rust a roll on. Now just needs to update the look. Do you have a link for the front fender? Also been searching around for an mx style rear fender but haven't had any luck.

the links are in the other comments. The fender..amazon..just search..xr650l front fender. the taillight and the led directionals (second video) were also bought from amazon. The headlight was purchased from rocky mountain atv, search jns engineering headlight for xr650l. the pegs were also bought off amazon. exhaust system from revzilla. the brush guards were bought from rocky mountain atv. I have also recently bought red shock sox 13" off amazon and some avs short brake and clutch levers directly from avs inventions.

for some odd reason i cant share the link...so, i got it from amazon, type,
"western power sports universal tail light" and i suggest you buy the othe bulbs with it too, just scroll down and youll see the "frequently bought together" and it will have the bulbs. i also purchased led turnsignals from amazon, and installed them on the bike, i have had no problems at all with them..i posted another video with them on the bike. looks good, works great.

All the money you spent on that you could’ve bought the new 450L
totally, when i bought it in 2016, the 450l wasnt available, and im a bigger guy so the 250 want cutting it. I put about 1700 into. Paid 6000, so im at about 7700. Ive test drove the l, its very nice, i do like the 650 just because the amout of travel the rear suspension has. While the 450l is at 11,000 dollars and pretty needy maintenance schedual. So what i use it for the 7700 is about the ceiling. Believe me im irritated with the 1700, but you gotta make it your own reguardless of what it is.
Oh ok that’s not too bad. I’ve been seeing the 450 go for around 9,900 out the door around here.
Slow 450l...XR650L way better
2017 paid 8,750 out the door. 0 miles.
If you buy the L you still have to spend another 2 grand to get it to run right and live up to it’s potential.
