I've had this amp in my truck running 2 SA V2 10's. 2 batteries, all 0 gauge wiring, 240 amp alt. Through many headaches and upgrading due to the amp clipping I've come to grips with the fact that the amp just isn't that efficient at 1 ohm and I will be upgrading to a salt 2.
Thank you for sharing your experiences!
I have the Sundown Audio SFB-3000D 3000W RMS Class D Amplifier pushing 2 15 inch X-15 V.2 D2 - Sundown Audio 15" Dual 2-Ohm X V.2 . Only problem that I have is that it’s tearing my trunk up! Lol I’ve had it going on 2 years and haven’t had any issues. Very powerful amp!
Yeah man they put out a TON of power!
Why not a bigger amp? With
That box rise I know they're not seeing their rms rating.
Lmao 🤣 just got me one
send it back, not worth the risk. these are fire hazard amps. Only reason I still have mine is because I can't return it. Will be replacing as soon as I'm able.
Well how about the hifonics amps ?
wow!! my buddy just put a sundown sae 1500d today! hope he did it right! stock 90amp alternator, stock battery stock everything. these amps are not a joke. its like driving around with a lincoln stick welder welding in your car!! great review!!! needs to be seen by all cer stereo fans!!
Thanks, great review.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
Awesome video !!! Thank you. I just sent back my 5k sundown!! Stuck in clip mode. I hope they honor the warranty. It's only about 4 days old.
2006 tahoe, built alternator, 2 batteries, 2 15.4 orion hcca wired to 1 ohm. Worked fine for about 3 days. Fair power. Swapped out in place of orion xtr 2500.1dz. (Can't compare in power by the way) re installed orion back working fine.
I'm glad I was able to help you out
Also, everytime my amp caught fire and I had to wait the 2 months for shipping and warranty claims for process I always installed my old backup amp from the 90s. Quantum Audio 1500D, doesn't quite to rated power but our known for SQ. That amp is only rated to 2 ohm stable. I ran it at 1 ohm every time and beat the shit out of it. It got hot, yes but it survived no problem. Yet I hook my Sundown SFB-2000D up at the proper 1ohm final impedance and it goes up in flames, twice..
Wow !!! I really don't want to talk bad about sundown, but I will say.. that's not looking good !! I used an orion xtr 2500.1dz in my buddy's car and someone came along and changed out the sub box with 3 12's DVC 2 ohm ALL STRAIGHT for at least 2 weeks !!!! (Untill I fixed it. The amp was shutting off during hard bass 🔊notes but guess what.., it lives !!! Makes you think a little 🤔 about sundown
@@juliansdiamonds honestly I know it's not Sundown as a whole. The rest of their products are great. Heard the SIA line of amps are solid. I know the SALT amps are bad ass. I love all their woofers. But these SFBS are a joke. They did a bad move by copying these Brazilian boards in China and did it piss poorly.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I got you. I don't disagree with you at all on that. I probably will try the SIA model 1 day.
Yanking out the power and ground by hand?!? Fuckin beast!! I can only imagine the adrenaline rush from all that...sounds like a really crazy experience! Thanks for the video though! My SCV-1500D recently took a shit and I was considering replacing it with this, but after this, I'm definitely passing!!
The extra power is cool and all, but there have just been way too many reviews mentioning fire...I'm already paranoid!
Great content man!
That adrenaline bro. When your life or your car flashes before your eyes you do some ballsy moves. I am a Martial Artist of 20 years. 3 black belts. I can really muster up some power when I need to for someone my size. I've surprised many.. many people over the years by that. And those wires were bolted down tight to the amp believe you me lol. I probably could of flipped my car over in that moment if I needed to. (Maybe not but you get my point lol, sure felt like it)
Thanks for the comment bro! I like your channel, I subbed to you! Thank you for the sub as well my man!
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Yes, having that discipline to channel your energy probably saved your life . Or at least saved you from a hassle with an insurance claim . That's never fun .
Had the same issues and I went through 3 of them and now have that amp on the shelf as a back up for some mids. I get a buzz every time I hook up my sfb2k. Also second time i had my replacement, it burned a patch of carpet in my trunk. Caught on fire while playing at low to mid volume.
Wise move man. I wish I would of kept this one in the box and sold as is at the time I got it.
I have the sundown audio sfb 2000 and it works great and still going strong! Got it on 2 skar audio evl 12's at 1 ohm and no problems doesn't get hot or anything. I guess i got lucky!? Basses so hard!
You are one of the lucky ones sir. Thanks for the comment. They put out a ton of power thats for sure and was never in question. When they work, they slam. When they fail, they do it in the same epic fashion.
Thats true who need zero gauge wire for a remote turn on that's really stupid some people just don't understand thank you sir for this video well said🙏🙏👍👍
Thank you for taking the time to reply with your kind words, blessings to you sir!
I'd like to say that just becuase a company has a great reputation, mistakes still happen or sometimes shortcuts are taken at the factory like with the supply chain issues they have to use different parts inside the amp that they aren't familiar with and this is the result .
Or who knows , maybe these amps were manufactured on a Friday 😎👌
100% agree with you my man.
I have a sfb 1000 in my honda. Factory alt, stock battery, 4 gauge stinger ofc wire, factory radio and 2 e12. I had the amp for almost a year now and no issues. Sorry to hear about your amps. It seem like the sfb 2000 is a lemon of and amp cause so many ppl are having issues with the sfb 2000 more then other. I can't lie tho. You are right about the way it sound. In my other car I have a Orion 2500dz on and x12. I love it. But I had went out and bought the sfb 3000. It has power but didn't hit the lows like the orion 2500dz did, so I put my orion back in and bam... Same as with the sfb1000. Ppl say well it your setting and etc. No it the way the amp are design or whatever they did to it. Glad you see and heard it too. I might switch my sfb 1000 out for and orion amp tho. Still waiting on apex audio to get some more 2500 in😒😒😒😒
Thanks for the comment bro! Thanks for keeping it respectful!
2000 watts is the highest you can go with a stock alt and big 3 upgrade as long as you are not doing SPL burps but, I highly recommend an amp that is tolerant of under voltage.
@@davidperry4013 what are some amps that are tolerant? I'm having the same issue. Thank you!
Great video! I have the sfb5000 coming from an orion xtr2500 and the sfb definitely not hitting the lows like my orion was. The sound quality is definitely not there. Will be upgrading back to a bigger Korean board amp and putting my sfb up for sale. Thanks for sharing your experience and keeping us aware.
Really appreciate your respect level! Could use more like you! Please subscribe!
just get a bass dsp or bass processor
Yes this is the best solution. I was speaking strictly from the amp. I know and understand that. In fact, I have a DSP arriving tomorrow. Thank you for your post. DSP's are what really open the doors for fine tuning on a system. But again, as I said, this was a product review about the amp itself, without having to add anything additional to the equation.
I appreciate this comment. I have a SFB-5000D that replaced an SFB-3000D. The 3k amp was much better than the 5k amp. Can't put my finger on it but the sound quality and lows seem trash on the 5k. Agree it's hit or miss. Probably going to part ways with both and get my a Korean board.
I currently own this amp. A few times I did smell it getting hot. I’m only running two l78’s q class by kicker. I was wondering why the bass wasn’t as deep as other amps I have owned. I had it installed and didn’t realize the low bad only went down to 80 hz. The box is ported under the back seat of my 2018 Silverado. It definitely gets loud but the deep quality bass just isn’t there. I want to try the box on a friends truck with a different amp and see what it sounds like
Things just aren't right with these amps. It's hard to say exactly what it is but so many factors contribute to these amps being a dice roll.
Hey , did you ever test your box in your buddy's truck ? Or did you switch out the amp ? 🤔
What gauge wires were you running? Are they notorious for this? The sfb2000 that is? In another video a kid's sfb2000 also caught on fire. I'm sitting on a brand new one and I'll nix it b4 burning my truck down! Appreciate your video

I just recently got a sfb 1000.4 . An I just saw your video. Curious to know your thoughts on this amp
Honestly man it's a roll of the dice with any SFB. The 2000s seem to have more issues than most but with the amount of people that have come forward saying they had a fire, I would return the amp and go with something else. Again that's just me. If you choose to run it, keep a fire extinguisher handy.
Basically what happened is Sundown used a designed made in China that just copied a SoundDigital design using the absolute cheapest parts you could imagine. So they copied it terribly which seriously affected the reliability factor. Sundown is a great car audio company no doubt. Love the designs, but this was a bad move. All the products besides the SFB line are solid. Vote is still up on the new SIA line that replaced the SFB line. Heard more people saying a few still went up in flames. I think the SFB line is holding the most amount of amps that ended up in flames currently.
Good opinion bro did you have a fuse in the back right before the amp and what size was it bro
Yes I did, 150 amp fuse at the front battery and another 150 amp fuse at the back battery
Wow I just got the SFB600D and tested it in my truck yesterday, this little guy puts out a lot of power for its size. Didn't know about the issues with these, thought Sundown was a quality buy.
The SFB600 isn't an issue. It's not even actually a full bridge amp.
Is that so?
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Yeah. Check the guts out on CAB. It's just a half bridge SFB1000, basically.
Very intersting!
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Sundown SAE V3 are a great value right now. Korean full bridge design.

Was there clipping before it blew? I have 2 3ks hooked up to 2 12” Hccas and they never get hot unless you clip t f out of them. My voltage drops low 12s if that I have everything just missing the h o alt which is coming soon.
No clipping at all, completely random one day just went up in flames bro. voltage was solid.
Hey, what I do is fuse right before the amp as well to be able to cut power faster too. Also, I've never heard anybody wanting a zero gauge remote wire... Dude that is hilarious. Lol 😂 thank you for the great video... Very informative.
I am fused in 2 places. One on the main battery under the hood, and am fused again from the 2nd battery to the amp. That particular run is literally not even a foot long from the second battery to the amp.
HAHA I'm glad I'm not the only one that got a good laugh and what the heck moment out of that one! LOL!
How you been bro?? Its been a while!

Interesting, I’m very glad I came across this video I was literally just fixing to buy this amp but you probably just saved me 280$ I have 2 12in sundown sa12 dual 4ohms and really wanna get the right amp for them without spending over 300$ I drive a 2016 Dodge Charger so I’m pretty sure I have enough power to run this setup fine but I need suggestions on a amp, do you have any?
Glad I was able to help you out!
Try taramps MD series or bass series
I just got this amp along with those same subs. Haven't hooked the amp up its brand new and I'm actually really hesitant since I've seen the reviews. I wonder if I could email sundown and maybe get a replacement.
Man I ordered mine without doing research lol ok so I bought 2 x8 v3 what amp would you recommend to run it?
if you want to go full bridge go with taramps. Other than that just look through the comments. A number of people found other amps by audio legion, black brick audio. Always do research before purchasing any amp. This SFB amp in particular is such a hazard it could potentially be life threatening. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves.
Never had a problem with mine but the first one smoked on turn on. still gonna get the sia 2500 when it comes out as I have a space issue in my car.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz well I guess that is a problem lol. Wish I can fit my Korean under the seat. Guess I'll keep a fire extinguisher handy.
@@rexnhogz That would be a wise move man.
i blew my sfb1500 by accidentally touching pos and neg speaker wires together just grabbed the sfb2k.. pushing 2 nemesis euphoria 12s as of right now i’m running basic 4 gauge cca but will be upgrading electrical real soon, did i make a mistake getting the 2k?
Honestly. Some people have no problems, others keep having fires. It's literally a roll of the dice. If you have the receipt and are able to return it, I would.
thanks for the video it answered a couple questions i had, im running a sundown x12 v2 and i want to upgrade my amp, so im looking at sfb2000 or the taramps smart 3, what do you think? thanks in advance!
I would go with the taramps smart 3 over the sfb-2k any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Personal opinion of course. If you do choose to run the SFB, make sure to have a fire extinguisher INSIDE the vehicle with easy access at ALL TIMES.
I'm really disappointed in the responses Sundown gave to people who had them catch fire. Blaming installs not realizing there is massive percentage of people who actually know how to hook up an audio system.
Sundown put there name on an amp that was copied in China and based of the Brazilian Sound Digital design using the cheapest parts possible, hence the price point. This however seriously affected reliability which is why you rarely hear of Sound Digitals catching fire, but SFBs catching fire is common place. Just look at the comment section.
I'm pretty sure the SFBs are holding the record for most amps caught on fire currently.
Get the taramps.

Hey bro, go check out Mr. Music Man's products. He's a new comer to the game but he has quality stuff that is at a great price. His amps are unreal.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz hello. Thank you for this video bro. I need some help. I just got a SAE v3 2000.d amp on two Sundown SA Classic 12s. I had 2 Skar SDR 12s ran by a TS Power 3000 which is only 900 RMS. Put the new stuff in yesterday. Set gains with a multi meter and did the same with subsonic/hpf. Anyways, I was expecting a lot and frankly it sounds like shit. Oh. Also I went from a cheap prefab ported enclosure to a down 4 sound Pro Fab box. My old stuff sounds way better/louder. It hits low way better but overall I'm not happy at all! I'm going to toy with the settings but it's a pain in the ass. I'm wondering if it's this amp. Supposed to be a really good amp idk? What do think of Mr music man's 2000 watt amp. I'm wishing I hadn't gotten this full range amp. Just doesn't sound right. Thanks for any advice
Got the same amp on my second one just went out again into protect mode and overheats very fast so I’m just gonna have to upgrade even tho it was a great amp when it worked yes I have proper zero gauge cables and solid voltage and ground
Yet another one.. Really getting tired of the people who try to say people like us don't know what we are doing.
I've had this amp and 2 sa v2 12s for 2 yrs and never hooked them up yet.. my car is almost new.. should I even bother? If not what amp should I put in place?
Honestly bro, I wouldn't. These SFB's are a COMPLETE roll of the dice. Some people have ran them for a few years without the slightest problem. Other people like myself, have had 2 catch on fire. One caught on fire with literally no volume or load on the amp.
Not to mention it came dangerously close to damaging the vehicle with the flames. Honestly if it was me, I would find a way to sell the amp, but do it with integrity. Be honest with the person you sell it to. Let them know the amp is a dice roll.
I have the amp under my seat. I'm still running stock battery & alt. I should just upgrade from the stock battery then do the Big3. But so far so good. Amp works well
give it time... I really hope yours is fine.. but chances are. it will catch fire or fail some way..
What was your electrical set up? What were your volts when you had a failure?
0 gauge OFC wire. (2) runs. (2) grounds as well. (1) XS d975 batteries 43aH (in the trunk as a secondary) and my factory included battery under the hood. Fused in (2) places. Once under the hood, another in between the second battery and the amp. Should be noted that I should have put a 3rd fuse in just before the second battery as well but ended up not because at this point in my build I was approaching $2000 and decided I should call it a day. My voltage never got below 13 volts even at idle.
Myself and A LOT of other people actually know car audio. I'm not one of those, "let me go ahead and pay out the ass for a Sundown sub and pair it with an audiopipe or hifonics on minimal electrical". Car audio is a hobby I've enjoyed for over 10 years. While a have a TON left to learn I know enough of the "basics" to know how to properly run and power car audio equipment safely.
Also, should be noted that Sundown's recent business practices as of late are appalling. Sundown has lost a lot money with these amps. For the first year or so they stood by the usual Sundown warranty standards. Lately they are blaming other things without even having those items in hand to test. They will blame other pieces of equipment just to get out of a replacement amp. I should know. I've had this video up for some time now and I've seen the comment section evolve. There have been FAR more people who have had these amps catch fire throwing a 2 ft long rooster tail of flame than people who have had no issues.
I am not delusional. I understand some people will have no problems at all. But until you've watched someone like Barevids YT video on the breakdown of how these SFB's work and the parts used and the copied design then you would understand. The parts used in the amps were of the lowest quality possible. Hence the reliability issues.
That does not mean all full bridge designs suffer from this fault.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz was just curious my man, calm down.
I'm calm my man. Just being very clear
I have 2 SA’s 12 Sundowns what will be good amp to buy
Plenty of choices. Just browse the comment section on this video. Some people went nemesis audio. Audio legion had a crazy sale not too long ago with reliable amps. Taramps is even a better choice than these SFB's OR SIA's. Stay away from them. Not worth the risk to your health, equipment or vehicle.
I just got this set up yesterday
My recommendation... send it back. Not worth the risk of fire. Not only did my amp get destroyed but my car could of caught on fire. Not worth it. Go Taramps if you want cheap power. Far more reliable
ive got a sfb-1000D and it was working great until yesterday i took my 10in sa classic and swapped it for my Psi 12 now my clip light is stuck on and no sound and not in protect i pulled the sub out checked my wiring checked the impedance at the sub both voice coils read 2.1 ohms 13.7 volts at the amp im stumped got any ideas?
Most likely amp is on the fritters. They are very sensitive amps
Went bad most likely. Contact the company you got it from if you purchased it yourself.
As far as an explanation for the situation all I can really tell you is these amps use very cheap parts combined with being sensitive themselves. I had one catch on fire with literally no volume being played. If the sub's coils are reading 2.1 ohms each then its impossible for you to wire it below 1ohm. So its not because its at half ohm. Who knows bro. Really sorry buddy. If you are able to get a replacement I would keep it as a new in box item, sell it and get something better. Taramps if you want full bridge, or go Korean if you want to rock solid bullet proof design.
My 2k sfb is stuck on clip and protect mode when i hook it up any suggestions on that
Faulty product. Send it back to Sundown. They will replace it
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz thanks
I had a sfb8000 and shit lit on fire 🔥🔥 lol but they did send me another one but it was used so I just sold it
I just bought one Sundown Audio X-15 v3 D1 Pro 15". I wanted to run it on this amp, thoughts? Will this be a good amp to run it at 1ohm?
DO NOT run this amp. Go with taramps if you want cheap power. There is a reason why sundown discontinued these amps. its a massive dice role. Just dont do it. If you somehow still choose to convince yourself its okay, that is entirely on you. Just know, you have been warned and if a flame breaks out, someone tried to warn you.
I got the same amp w the Memphis mojos 8” and one day it just stopped playing I thought I messed the speakers up and put new sundown xv8” turned the truck on and my clip light kept flashing but no bass cause be heard. Think the amp is fried?
I know for a fact its fried. If you have the receipt from where you purchased it from just go to the Sundown website and go to the warranty section and fill out the information. They will send you a postage to print off in 24hours or less. However, be aware, Sundown has lost A LOT of money from these amps. The first year or so they stood by their usual warranty standards. After replacing thousands of these things they are starting to do scummy things like tell customers its not the SFB's fault, its other products fault such as line out converters, etc, even though they do not have those said products in hand to test. They are just blaming other parts without the slightest bit of testing.
My suggestion would be to not allow them to do this to you. Stay on them. If you use a line out converter, dont tell them. If they ask you what your electrical is, lie to them and say its beefier than it is. Its a damn shame to have to resort to this, but after them literally purchasing a cheap full bridge copy of Sound Digitals Brazilian Full Bridge design and use the absolute cheapest parts possible they are wondering why the product failed. This is not the consumers fault. This is Sundown's fault. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the SFB/SIA line of amp REALLY set Sundown Audio back profit wise. So much so I'm willing to bet whatever plans they had for new product research and development for 2022/2023/2024 has been pushed back years.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz thanks so much!

Also, check out Mr.MusicMan. He sounds like a flea market brand but he legit has some quality products for a good price. Check out TheAmpLab on google to find the website. you need to get amps tuned by a professional and never touch them again. Ever.
Question..u think the wires loose in your amp could have caused it because im sorry there is no way you are pulling 1/0 power and ground out of the terminals..unless they were not tight to begin with..sfb line is for full range thats why the low pass crossover only goes down to 80hz FYI
Thank you for the comment. Yes I am aware what full range means, but thank you for saying so. And yes I am very sure the wires were VERY tight. I don't think you realize just how strong my grip strength is. I am an individual who is well above average in that category (been a welder fabricator for the last 15 years and swinging hammers) These amps are notorious for catching on fire. Before you doubt me., do some quick research.
Had 3 catch fire on me for different seasons only once was my fault, allen key slipped out my hand but the other 2 burned up while playing at low volume and all my grounds are solid
You got some big ones snatching those 1/0 wires while the amp was on fire. Dont know if I could do it myself but then again when that blood gets pumping , we turn into super man all of a sudden

They sound epicly loud, but when they fail they do so in the same epic fashion. You'll see flames about 2 feet high coming out the amp. And you better hope your car doesn't catch fire.
Not worth the risk bro. To this day if I even smell as much as firewood burning I panic and turn my head thinking the amp is going up in flames. The fear is real bro
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I guess it’s a hit and miss if they will catch fire or not but I’ll keep an eye on it and see if it gets super hot and smoke and I also don’t crank up my music at loud volumes for long periods of time
What amp do you recommend
Taramps if your looking at fullbrigde and on a budget. Taramps best bang for your buck. Or sound digital if you have some cushion to spend.
I have the same it just went into protect and stopped working for me
Yep, send it back to Sundown
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz did they fix your amp?
They replaced the amp and sent me a new one free of charge as long as I have the receipt of where I purchased it from.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I sent my sfb3000 and a week later they sent me a tracking number for a SIA3500
Wish they did that for me. Glad to hear you got that taken care of.
Alright guys I jus got a sfb2k I have 1/0g tinned ofc wires ran from front battery to second battery pos to pos(+) neg to neg (-) and have the big3 done in the same 1/0g wire and I have my self fused right b4 the front battery right before the second one and right off the second battery for the amp all 250 amp fuses the second battery is an xs power D3100 and I have a 240a h/o alt that does 331a@1800rpm should that be enough for that amp? Or send it back anyway an get another one?
Send it back. This is a fire hazard amp. Sundown has been replacing them with SIA models everytime they go up in flames. The fire risk isn't worth your vehicle, your system, or risking all the time and effort you put in. Really disappointed in Sundown on this one.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz what kind of fusing did u have when it blew up 2 times on u?
I underfused it in 2 places. 150 amps each. One after my main battery under the hood. And again after my second battery in the trunk to the amp. These SFB's are a serious problem. Recommended is 200 amps. Take my advice. Send it back. Don't attempt to convince yourself that everyone else did something wrong and you'll be fine.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz even if I have 3 fuses that are 250a? one after main battery one before second battery and one off second battery to amp..still send it back? Even tho I would have to pay return shipping an a 15% restocking fee?
You keep asking the same questions over and over. Keep it if you want. You are over fusing it. Its not safe. Recommended is 200 amp fuse. So you fusing it to 250 amp is not helping you at all as far as safety. Your making it worse. You clearly don't understand exactly whats happening here. If your willing to risk your entire system (think of all that money) and potentially your vehicle, and potentially your life, go head, keep the amp and play it. I'm sure you will be fine.
You've made so many comments asking this same question. Stop trying to convince yourself that you will be fine and safe. Why are you over fusing it to 250 amps? Don't you realize thats not even safe in itself? Send it back and get something that is actually safe.
There's a post on Facebook bout these sfbs u should see all the commentsn videos and pictures definitely a fire smoke hazard
That doesn't surprise me one bit lol. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves on this account. I'm fairly sure the SFB's hold the record for most caught on fire.
Mine went out today didn't even blast the music that loud and amp smoked off of 2 8in sundown sub running on 1ohm lucky I had a circuit breaker to kill the power (cheaply made)
Yet another one. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. They really need to send out a mass e-mail offering to replace every SFB on the market.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I agree, so disappointed in the amplifier
I'm seriously debating starting an organization of every person who had one go up in flames and start recording everyone's experience with flames and how it got smoked and the danger it caused. If I get enough people together, I do believe we can get Sundown to make some sort of addressment and even possible replacements.
Been looking at the sfb 1500 or 2000
Don't, RUN!
Lol my sfb2k died in 3 days, The S.I.A 3500 is where it’s at
I know right.
Damn right
I just got sfb-1000 new from down for sound. it been problematic. the gain is over sensitive and clip way too early. My setup is one 10 SA classic at 1 ohm. it sounds horrible and very under power. I set my gains to match AC volts with multi meter. 31 volts.
prior to that, i had a skar rp 800 and had no issues.
I hear ya brother. There is a reason why Sundown have discontinued this amp all together. They are even having problems with the SIA line as well. I have no idea why companies like down4sound are stilling selling them knowing they are fire hazard amps. If I were you i would send it back for a refund or exchange. If you want cheap full bridge power, go taramps, they are far more reliable at this point.
When I first purchased the SFB-2000D they were brand new on the market. Everyone thought they were going to get a good sundown audio product for cheap. Boy were we wrong. Barevids (who is a CZcamsr who repairs amplifiers) diagnosed with the problem is. Sundown used a copied Sound Digital design using the absolute cheapest parts possible. Hence why they are failing left and right but Sound Digital is solid.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz
I sent the amp to sundown for testing.
They said the amp is fine. And it prematurely clipping from RCA signal from an line out converter.
Have you heard of amp premature clipping?
Not at all. The amp is terrible. There is a reason why Sundown discontinued these amps. They are lying to you in an attempt not to have to give anymore free product away. Sundown lost A LOT of money with the SFB/SIA series.
Also, how is that Sundown is able to blame your Line Out Converter when they do not have your line out converter to test it? Sundown is lying and placing blame on other products because they know the SFB is the problem. Sundown lost A LOT OF MONEY with the SFB/SIA line. They are starting to make excuses instead of honoring warranty replacements.
Not bad but your right about you have to have good electrical but there a fire hazard.
Full bridge is the future.. these are just the growing pains
If they are able to make full bridge truly reliable with a solid reputation then I would agree with you.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz the big boys are starting to make them.. they will get better. Patients.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz sundown just slaps their name on shit.
I have this amp and it keeps clipping and I can’t even set my gains right
That's usually a sign that your electrical is not up to the task. However if you do have solid electrical then you probably got some sort of lemon. These things are riddled with problems.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz yeah I haven’t done the big three yet. Been to busy with work but yeah I been told this many times hopefully tonight I can get it done
If you are only running stock battery then you do not have enough power to use this amp. Even if you are running big 3 and stock battery you still don't have enough power to properly use this amp.
Also if your only power is the stock battery then that will cause your amp to clip even while setting gains. It does this because the amp is looking to draw power from a source that doesnt have it available to give.
Thanks for the info I’m gonna get a better battery and alternator as well just been busy with work but yes I will definitely upgrade a few things I really wanna piss some neighbors off lol 😂
Just got one today it really does way over rated. Gets a bit hot though doesn't seem to like below 14 volts.
No they do not like low voltage
On the exact same setup at 2 ohm, my SIA 3500 blows my skar rp3500 that was wired at .5 out of the water. and for $100 less with no loss in sound quality. I have a 175 amp alt, standard under-hood battery, and two 80 amp hour AGMs in the trunk. Amp stays cool to the touch. At .5 ohm, the amp circuitry would temporarily kill the bass as soon as you started to turn the volume up, well before it even had a chance to clip. In my experience it simply will NOT play at .5
Thanks for sharing your experience man!
Guess i’ll stick with my original plan of gettin a kicker cxa800.1 to push my skar audio svr12 😂😂
If your paying full retail price for the kicker 800.1 I would suggest looking at other companies that also do rated power so your not paying for the name (Kicker). Kicker products while being solid, are very overpriced, (IMHO), especially they're amps.
I get what you’re saying, that’s why i bought a skar svr12 over an L7 12, im more into the kicker for the compact size, it fits perfectly under my driver seat
People writing “it’s my third amp and all same sht” if you bought a product and see that’s it no good why to buy two more?
Hello sir. Its a very simple reason and its not what you think. None of us went out and "bought another amp". Sundown has a redeeming quality with all these amps catching on fire. They're customer service is top notch. I'm on my 3rd amp. I only paid for one however. The other 2 were replacements given to me free of charge by Sundown Audio as warranty replacements. Each time I received a replacement the 2 year warranty with the amp starts over.
One person here who is also on they're 3rd amp said Sundown felt so bad they upgraded him from a SFB-2000D to a SIA 3500D. I wish I lucked out that well myself. Unfortunately I did not. So far I've had the amp almost a year now and no problems. However I will admit, if I can find a buyer for it, I will sell it immediately, no hesitation.
Fuc, I just ordered the 1800.5 one damn I hope I don’t have that issue
I would send it back, not worth the risk in any way.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz
What 5 channel do you recommend, now that I’m to worried using the 1800.5
My bass amp is Taramp smart 5 K
honestly bro, just go with another taramps. Probably be able to get one at a good price that will be rock solid reliable. These SFB's just aren't worth the risk. People talk shit and say its just people who dont know what they are doing who have problems with SFB's and its just flat out not true. So many people who have plenty of car audio knowledge who has been involved in the hobby for 10+ years have had these things blow up and cause fires with literally no volume. Its a complete dice roll.
Other people have had absolutely no problems what so ever and abuse the hell out of them with low voltage and bass boost the shit out of em. I have a friend who has absolutely no car audio knowledge what so ever. I did an install for him on one of his vehicles that is an SFB-1500.1D and he abuses the hell out of that thing. I always get mad at him and tell him I have no idea how his amp is still running. I babied mine, never let it get below 12v, never played clipped music, solid electrical and even under powered the amp and still had 2 catch on fire in the middle of traffic. The shit could cause someone to have a vehicle go up in flames easily. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously, this could be a class action lawsuit if enough people had the right knowledge and lawyer hook-ups.

I know two different people who have had problems with their sfb amplifiers. Stick with the half bridge amplifiers
It would appear they can take a beating for far longer.
I wont insult anyone installing their own amps just be sure to do your homework on proper grounding and the electrical system. More times than not ppl think they can run stock electric with no upgraded alt or battery with these amps.
I had this amp smfh it was fucking horrible but I now got a sia 3500 and it’s been lovely but the sfb series gave me plenty problems
Absolutely man. Its a joke. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. Now what they are doing is blaming other things like line out converters or dsp's causing the fire's on the amps. Sundown is really acting like a piece of shit company.
Yep mine started smoking too. Shit amps.
I'm seeing so many people share the same experiences. So sorry to hear that man!
i bought one a two years ago that amp has been pissing me off my buddy has the same set up as i do and his sound way better then mine i finally give up and tossed it in the trash next week im getting something better
Yet another one. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves on this one.. Seriously. I'm glad at least your has not caught on fire and caused damage to your vehicle or equipment. Your scenario was one of the better outcomes believe it or not.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz they actually have discontinued this amp
Doesn't surprise me one bit. Just had an idiot comment yesterday that because he himself hasn't had a problem yet, that means everyone (including you and me) are idiots and have no idea how to hook up an amp.
Damn that sucks i was just looking at the sfb1500 for my Subs.
Ya man. Unfortunately this amps are a joke. Go taramps if you want cheap(er) power
Was your power cable fused at the battery? I’m assuming it wasn’t or the fuse would have blown!!! Installer incompetence!! Not a poor/dangerous product!
You are an idiot. Allow me to educate you since you are so in need. I actually had it fused in TWO PLACES. It was fused at the battery under my hood and it was fused at my secondary battery in my trunk. Not to mention Sundown has literally announced that they are discontinuing the SFB line of amplifiers because they are having so many failures. The next time you want to act like you know car audio, do everyone a favor. DON'T!
even the sia sucks for lows same crossover issue
If I could go back I would not have purchased this amp. I like many others saw a Sundown Product for a reasonable price and thought it would be bulletproof. Boy was I wrong.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz thanks for the reply this would only be good if the crossover was made for bass lows and could safely run .5 ohm
Those amps suck, mines last 2 days. I got a new one under warranty. Sold the new one.
I wish I would of done the same thing when I received my replacement to be honest. But in fairness to Sundown, they replaced it every time no questions asked. (As they should have)
Lmfao imagine trying to hook up a 0g wire to the back of your head unit 😂😂
I know right!? LOLL
Like I said, I just don't get it with some of these people in car audio.
Sorry bud, but if I have an amp that catches on fire, I wouldn't buy another one. Just saying.
I never purchased another one thankfully. Sundown honored the warranty every time thankfully. As I said, if something happens to this one, I'm keeping it in the box and selling as a new in box item.
Sundown felt so bad for me they gave me new replacement for free so I cant really complain except that those sfb.series are a liability
too unreliable. taramps seems to be better for long term use.
