I've had this amp and 2 sa v2 12s for 2 yrs and never hooked them up yet.. my car is almost new.. should I even bother? If not what amp should I put in place?
Honestly bro, I wouldn't. These SFB's are a COMPLETE roll of the dice. Some people have ran them for a few years without the slightest problem. Other people like myself, have had 2 catch on fire. One caught on fire with literally no volume or load on the amp. Not to mention it came dangerously close to damaging the vehicle with the flames. Honestly if it was me, I would find a way to sell the amp, but do it with integrity. Be honest with the person you sell it to. Let them know the amp is a dice roll.
Song at 2:10?
Mine just caught fire and I only had my car idling in park and the stereo wasn’t even on yet I installed it yesterday and it sounded good too for the whole 5 hrs I had listened to it. I’m bumbed it took three mosfets out and under inspection I don’t know that I’ve ever seen this mosfet before they say H1 on them
I'm so sorry bro. Thats what happens man. Same thing happened to me essentially. Had very little load on the amp and BAM, magic smoke. Actual flames started to come out of the vents. Got about a 6-8 inches high. Sundown needs to have a class action lawsuit against them.
Monster sub and great sounding box...
It was incredible! Thanks for watching!

@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Thanks man I just bought an amp just like that and its power is very good
Just be very careful man they are fire hazard amps. I'm on my 3rd one from warranty. They put out a lot of power but are very dangerous please be careful bro
Check out my review video of the Sundown SFB. Please, it's not for the views, I don't make a dime from these. I'm trying to help people be safe.
I've had this amp in my truck running 2 SA V2 10's. 2 batteries, all 0 gauge wiring, 240 amp alt. Through many headaches and upgrading due to the amp clipping I've come to grips with the fact that the amp just isn't that efficient at 1 ohm and I will be upgrading to a salt 2.
Thank you for sharing your experiences!
wow!! my buddy just put a sundown sae 1500d today! hope he did it right! stock 90amp alternator, stock battery stock everything. these amps are not a joke. its like driving around with a lincoln stick welder welding in your car!! great review!!! needs to be seen by all cer stereo fans!!
Any videos with the box facing the cabin
Was reading comments just saw u don't have car anymore
That was the final configuration I had it in actually. I got way more SPL with the enclosure facing the rear of the vehicle. However it got to the point where the SPL was so intense that my rear deck was jumping so high it was smacking the back rear glass and sounded like a .22LR rifle was cracking off everytime it hit. So I ended up turning the enclosure around to fire towards the cab. I lost SPL but gained in sound quality 10 fold. And this sub is such an SPL monster anyway that it was completely okay to do a trade off and still got great sounding lows and music overall.
Been looking at the sfb 1500 or 2000
Don't, RUN!
I had this amp smfh it was fucking horrible but I now got a sia 3500 and it’s been lovely but the sfb series gave me plenty problems
Absolutely man. Its a joke. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. Now what they are doing is blaming other things like line out converters or dsp's causing the fire's on the amps. Sundown is really acting like a piece of shit company.
Great video bro!
Appreciate it!
There's a post on Facebook bout these sfbs u should see all the commentsn videos and pictures definitely a fire smoke hazard
That doesn't surprise me one bit lol. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves on this account. I'm fairly sure the SFB's hold the record for most caught on fire.
I’m thoroughly impressed that first bass hit was not expected goddamn
appreciate that thank you sir
hey man i have blown through 2 skar amplifiers! i had the gain turned all the way up though for like 10 minutes.... would this sundown amp be a better choice! ivw blown through both skar amps in two weeks btw... need help
If you blew two skar amps in 2 weeks then the SFB's wouldn't last a day for you. Stay away
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz hey! thanks for replying! i am new into this.. is there maybe a problem as to why my amps are blowing up? is it because.the gsin is all the way? and what amps do you recomend?
you need to get amps tuned by a professional and never touch them again. Ever.
What was your electrical set up? What were your volts when you had a failure?
0 gauge OFC wire. (2) runs. (2) grounds as well. (1) XS d975 batteries 43aH (in the trunk as a secondary) and my factory included battery under the hood. Fused in (2) places. Once under the hood, another in between the second battery and the amp. Should be noted that I should have put a 3rd fuse in just before the second battery as well but ended up not because at this point in my build I was approaching $2000 and decided I should call it a day. My voltage never got below 13 volts even at idle. Myself and A LOT of other people actually know car audio. I'm not one of those, "let me go ahead and pay out the ass for a Sundown sub and pair it with an audiopipe or hifonics on minimal electrical". Car audio is a hobby I've enjoyed for over 10 years. While a have a TON left to learn I know enough of the "basics" to know how to properly run and power car audio equipment safely. Also, should be noted that Sundown's recent business practices as of late are appalling. Sundown has lost a lot money with these amps. For the first year or so they stood by the usual Sundown warranty standards. Lately they are blaming other things without even having those items in hand to test. They will blame other pieces of equipment just to get out of a replacement amp. I should know. I've had this video up for some time now and I've seen the comment section evolve. There have been FAR more people who have had these amps catch fire throwing a 2 ft long rooster tail of flame than people who have had no issues. I am not delusional. I understand some people will have no problems at all. But until you've watched someone like Barevids YT video on the breakdown of how these SFB's work and the parts used and the copied design then you would understand. The parts used in the amps were of the lowest quality possible. Hence the reliability issues. That does not mean all full bridge designs suffer from this fault.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz was just curious my man, calm down.
I'm calm my man. Just being very clear
Full bridge is the future.. these are just the growing pains
If they are able to make full bridge truly reliable with a solid reputation then I would agree with you.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz the big boys are starting to make them.. they will get better. Patients.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz sundown just slaps their name on shit.
Got the same amp on my second one just went out again into protect mode and overheats very fast so I’m just gonna have to upgrade even tho it was a great amp when it worked yes I have proper zero gauge cables and solid voltage and ground
Yet another one.. Really getting tired of the people who try to say people like us don't know what we are doing.
I got the same amp w the Memphis mojos 8” and one day it just stopped playing I thought I messed the speakers up and put new sundown xv8” turned the truck on and my clip light kept flashing but no bass cause be heard. Think the amp is fried?
I know for a fact its fried. If you have the receipt from where you purchased it from just go to the Sundown website and go to the warranty section and fill out the information. They will send you a postage to print off in 24hours or less. However, be aware, Sundown has lost A LOT of money from these amps. The first year or so they stood by their usual warranty standards. After replacing thousands of these things they are starting to do scummy things like tell customers its not the SFB's fault, its other products fault such as line out converters, etc, even though they do not have those said products in hand to test. They are just blaming other parts without the slightest bit of testing. My suggestion would be to not allow them to do this to you. Stay on them. If you use a line out converter, dont tell them. If they ask you what your electrical is, lie to them and say its beefier than it is. Its a damn shame to have to resort to this, but after them literally purchasing a cheap full bridge copy of Sound Digitals Brazilian Full Bridge design and use the absolute cheapest parts possible they are wondering why the product failed. This is not the consumers fault. This is Sundown's fault. Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the SFB/SIA line of amp REALLY set Sundown Audio back profit wise. So much so I'm willing to bet whatever plans they had for new product research and development for 2022/2023/2024 has been pushed back years.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz thanks so much!
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz can you recommend me a good amp for the subs?
No worries happy to help. Sundown is out of line with this product. If you want cheap power go Tararmps for full bridge design. more reliable. DS-18 has had decent product for good money. Also, check out Mr.MusicMan. He sounds like a flea market brand but he legit has some quality products for a good price. Check out TheAmpLab on google to find the website. They refurbish used amps and test them to work flawless. But the prices are much lower to brand new items if your interested in that route.
Was your power cable fused at the battery? I’m assuming it wasn’t or the fuse would have blown!!! Installer incompetence!! Not a poor/dangerous product!
You are an idiot. Allow me to educate you since you are so in need. I actually had it fused in TWO PLACES. It was fused at the battery under my hood and it was fused at my secondary battery in my trunk. Not to mention Sundown has literally announced that they are discontinuing the SFB line of amplifiers because they are having so many failures. The next time you want to act like you know car audio, do everyone a favor. DON'T!
I just bought one Sundown Audio X-15 v3 D1 Pro 15". I wanted to run it on this amp, thoughts? Will this be a good amp to run it at 1ohm?
DO NOT run this amp. Go with taramps if you want cheap power. There is a reason why sundown discontinued these amps. its a massive dice role. Just dont do it. If you somehow still choose to convince yourself its okay, that is entirely on you. Just know, you have been warned and if a flame breaks out, someone tried to warn you.
I just got sfb-1000 new from down for sound. it been problematic. the gain is over sensitive and clip way too early. My setup is one 10 SA classic at 1 ohm. it sounds horrible and very under power. I set my gains to match AC volts with multi meter. 31 volts. prior to that, i had a skar rp 800 and had no issues.
I hear ya brother. There is a reason why Sundown have discontinued this amp all together. They are even having problems with the SIA line as well. I have no idea why companies like down4sound are stilling selling them knowing they are fire hazard amps. If I were you i would send it back for a refund or exchange. If you want cheap full bridge power, go taramps, they are far more reliable at this point. When I first purchased the SFB-2000D they were brand new on the market. Everyone thought they were going to get a good sundown audio product for cheap. Boy were we wrong. Barevids (who is a CZcamsr who repairs amplifiers) diagnosed with the problem is. Sundown used a copied Sound Digital design using the absolute cheapest parts possible. Hence why they are failing left and right but Sound Digital is solid.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I sent the amp to sundown for testing. They said the amp is fine. And it prematurely clipping from RCA signal from an line out converter. Have you heard of amp premature clipping?
Not at all. The amp is terrible. There is a reason why Sundown discontinued these amps. They are lying to you in an attempt not to have to give anymore free product away. Sundown lost A LOT of money with the SFB/SIA series.
Also, how is that Sundown is able to blame your Line Out Converter when they do not have your line out converter to test it? Sundown is lying and placing blame on other products because they know the SFB is the problem. Sundown lost A LOT OF MONEY with the SFB/SIA line. They are starting to make excuses instead of honoring warranty replacements.
I have an evl12 on a amp that is only delivering like 200 watts to it (don’t buy ssl amps lol) but it was a free amp. I ordered a better amp still need to get thicker wire but now I’m worried about needing a second battery which is more money I don’t have rn
You will need it
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz is yours wired to the main battery with a fuse in there somewhere or do you have a isolator as well?
Never use an isolator. They will make more issues. Trust me on this. I have 2 fuses. One coming off the main battery underneath the hood (150amp fuse) and another fuse going from the battery to the amp (150 amp). I should have added a 3rd directly before the second battery as well but got lazy.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Just thought I’d ask the questions since you’ve done this and it’s working, anyway thanks for the info and hopefully I can get everything I need in the next 2 months!

Hey bro. Glad to hear you are wanting to get some serious power. Yes 0 Guage is a must have. Not an option so smart on you for holding off. Honestly bro, I would return it. Look at the comment section bro. So many fires. I'm on my 3rd one. No joke. They put out a ton of power. They sound epicly loud, but when they fail they do so in the same epic fashion. You'll see flames about 2 feet high coming out the amp. And you better hope your car doesn't catch fire. Not worth the risk bro. To this day if I even smell as much as firewood burning I panic and turn my head thinking the amp is going up in flames. The fear is real bro
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I guess it’s a hit and miss if they will catch fire or not but I’ll keep an eye on it and see if it gets super hot and smoke and I also don’t crank up my music at loud volumes for long periods of time

I'd like to say that just becuase a company has a great reputation, mistakes still happen or sometimes shortcuts are taken at the factory like with the supply chain issues they have to use different parts inside the amp that they aren't familiar with and this is the result . Or who knows , maybe these amps were manufactured on a Friday 😎👌
100% agree with you my man.
I just got this set up yesterday
My recommendation... send it back. Not worth the risk of fire. Not only did my amp get destroyed but my car could of caught on fire. Not worth it. Go Taramps if you want cheap power. Far more reliable

Would this battery be able to handle 2000w rms on a skar audio rp2000 at 1 ohm? I have two sundown sa 12s stock everything on the car it’s an 08 Pontiac g6. Or would you suggest a different xs battery. I really like the price of this guy.
Yes! It absolutely would! I def. recommend it for that application. I am currently using it on a Sundown SFB-2000D wired to 1ohm (Skar ZVX-15) and have had absolutely no problems. Supports the system very well, especially for the price. I wouldn't run your system full tilt non stop with this but you can def have relatively long burps of 5-10 min with no clipping and be good. Just know when to back off and let your alt charge it back up. Also, another tip. I ran this on all stock electrical as well. What I did in order not to ruin the battery over time (since I'm assuming you will be running the stock battery that comes with the vehicle under the hood in parallel with this XS D975 battery were currently discussing) is once every 1.5 - 2 months I take BOTH batteries out of the vehicle and charge them both up. This will make sure you don't lose the higher voltage that the XS battery has over time while your using the less power lower voltage stock battery of the vehicle. That is what I did and ran it that way for 3 years. Not a single problem every occurred and by taking the battery out to charge about every 1.5 months I still have and maintain full voltage on my XS Power D975 43aH battery. All in all.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR YOUR APPLICATION! Please subscribe and consider joining our discord channel (which the link is in the description) we have a lot of box builders, designers, and we discuss and can help in all aspects of car audio.
@UCJ2SnqDUMGx6R7zMaCJUZmg thank you so much for the reply a lot of great information that will help me out. I just have one more question. Do u think I’d be better off in the long run buying the xs power d1200 rated at 1500-3000w? It’s only $30 more and yes I and running stock battery on the car it’s new tho.
Its rated at 44aH and the D975 that I have is 43aH. So in reality you are only getting one more aH added for 30 bucks. Ultimately, that would give you more power so if you have the extra 30 bucks and it doesn't really matter to you if you spend the extra 30, then I would get the d1200
Lmfao imagine trying to hook up a 0g wire to the back of your head unit 😂😂
I know right!? LOLL
Like I said, I just don't get it with some of these people in car audio.
Bout time for some deadner homie
never did my man. It was just a lease. No point in putting all that in since I can't take it back out when I get rid of the vehicle. That car is now gone. I now have a 4 door 2022 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab truck =]

@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz they actually have discontinued this amp

honestly bro, just go with another taramps. Probably be able to get one at a good price that will be rock solid reliable. These SFB's just aren't worth the risk. People talk shit and say its just people who dont know what they are doing who have problems with SFB's and its just flat out not true. So many people who have plenty of car audio knowledge who has been involved in the hobby for 10+ years have had these things blow up and cause fires with literally no volume. Its a complete dice roll. Other people have had absolutely no problems what so ever and abuse the hell out of them with low voltage and bass boost the shit out of em. I have a friend who has absolutely no car audio knowledge what so ever. I did an install for him on one of his vehicles that is an SFB-1500.1D and he abuses the hell out of that thing. I always get mad at him and tell him I have no idea how his amp is still running. I babied mine, never let it get below 12v, never played clipped music, solid electrical and even under powered the amp and still had 2 catch on fire in the middle of traffic. The shit could cause someone to have a vehicle go up in flames easily. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously, this could be a class action lawsuit if enough people had the right knowledge and lawyer hook-ups.

What you recommend buying for two Zv5 D1 15”
MrMusicMan is a great source of high quality products. He looks like its a flea market thing but its actually completely legit. BlackBrickAudio is also another one that has good quality products for cheaper. Taramps is another route. They are far more reliable than the SFB's if you are going full bridge. @@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz i will
Thank you sir!
What would you suggest on a 4ch amplifier. I need a solid amplifier to power deaf bonce apocalypse Sylvester
Taramps, Mr.MusicMan, Black Brick Audio these are just a few of the cheaper companies (in cost not cheap products) Please consider subscribing and joining our discord channel!
Wondering how you calculate what you can run safely. I went from all stock 110alt factory battery pushing 1300.1 with no problems. I upgraded to a 250alt and 1 xs d3400 under the hood, also big 3 and all 0 gauge ofc wire. I want to buy a new efficient hi-end class D amp. What would be my max with my set-up??? 3000rm.
I usually go by experience if I'm 2000 watt rms or under. Anything over that I use an app to help me figure that out. The Ultimate Car Audio App is a great resource. It costs like $1.99 but its the best 1.99 I've ever spent. So many calculators included in this app including how much power you could run with your current electrical. I will run some numbers and see what you have here... According to my calculators and the information you've given me you should be able to support around 3500 watts RMS. I hope this helps you. @@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz wow that's insane, my calculations are way off, I was figuring around 4000rms max. Great to know thanks. I'm going to download that app A.S.A.P
Excuse me man, please forgive me. I have no idea what happened but I decided to triple check the numbers. I'm actually getting about 3500 watts RMS that you could support on that setup. I have no idea why my calculator read out such an insanely high number. I am so sorry!!!
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz that's alright, I've seen other explanations on this subject. Usually I see alot of guys run there amp rating + there battery AH rating × 10......that gets you in the ballpark.
Sorry about that again. I wanted to make sure I told you I made a mistake on the chance you went out and upgraded your stuff. I didn't want to be the reason your equipment was damaged hence why I tried to correct my mistake! My apologies! Please consider joining our discord! discord.gg/u6h6W4mK6d
I like 25 hz do ya I know what kinda of bass your into. Thinking of getting one. But I like to move air so I like to use 2 to for 4- 4 inch ports so it’s like using a 8 or 16 inch port. I have two Adire Kalis in a 10.5 cubic foot box tunes to 27hz but subs together are about 200 pound add the box and it’s almost 300 lbs. it’s in a grand marquis I removed the back seat and cut out the rear deck so it’s more like a hatchback now. When I had two 18 inch kicker solo X Motors on 15 inch frames tuned to 25hz it actually broke my trunk lock mechanism ripped the sheet metal and rivets I since then bolted the trunk down and sandwiched thick rope in my rear doors to keep them from rattling and injected big gap filler in my trunk lid and bumper. I hate rattling. 250 amp Alt two XSpower d7500’s dual runs of Zero guage everywhere and to the amp- Stetsom 8k 2ohm I have a 5k wolfram I’m thinking of running to a RS team 15 custom made D2. Do you think I’ll be happy??
I think you will be VERY happy. In fact, I know you will.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I meant I’m thinking of replacing the 2 Adire 15 with 1 team RS 15. I know it’s less cone area but I’ll save a good amount of lbs in the trunk but your saying I’ll still get good low bass output tuned to 22-24hz with one of these insane monster subs?!? I can run about 5100 to it using my 8k 2ohm at a 4ohm load or my wolfram 5000.1 at 1 ohm probably get about the same wattage. The sub has been rebuilt it’s now a d2. Never dealt with a sub more then 100 pounds but am looking forward to it 💪🔈
Yes, as long as you have the enclosure designed correctly, and tuned properly you should still get plenty of low end. Those RS Team 15's are no joke. I've heard just a single one before and I was blown away.
ive got a sfb-1000D and it was working great until yesterday i took my 10in sa classic and swapped it for my Psi 12 now my clip light is stuck on and no sound and not in protect i pulled the sub out checked my wiring checked the impedance at the sub both voice coils read 2.1 ohms 13.7 volts at the amp im stumped got any ideas?
Most likely amp is on the fritters. They are very sensitive amps
Went bad most likely. Contact the company you got it from if you purchased it yourself.
As far as an explanation for the situation all I can really tell you is these amps use very cheap parts combined with being sensitive themselves. I had one catch on fire with literally no volume being played. If the sub's coils are reading 2.1 ohms each then its impossible for you to wire it below 1ohm. So its not because its at half ohm. Who knows bro. Really sorry buddy. If you are able to get a replacement I would keep it as a new in box item, sell it and get something better. Taramps if you want full bridge, or go Korean if you want to rock solid bullet proof design.
I just brought a zvx 15 dual 1 ohm I plan on running it at 0.5 ohm on a smart 3k. That box is beautiful. Please give me the info to the person that built that box
He no longer is building boxes to my knowledge. I think he got out the game. Last I heard people were getting really unhappy with his work, communication and quality. So much so I had to remove a video I made recommended people go to him because I had multiple people comment saying how unhappy they were. And they were issues that I had to deal with too. Such as communication. You can try to find him. Concept Enclosures is the Business and his name is Tyler (Tyler Adam's if my memory serves me correct)
Yo just a question. Is there any reason why you went with a Sundown 2K amp rather than a Skar 2K amp?
Honestly bro, at the time those SFB amps were just coming out and everyone thought they were going to get a good Sundown product for cheap. The SFB amps are serious fire hazards. Stay away from them. Also, I recommend staying away from the Skar RP series amps. A number of people have shown test where they show dirty power towards the limits. However the SK series amps by Skar are rock solid
Nice clean setup! How is the sound quality on the Brazilian Sundown amp?
Originally not as good as I hoped. Its a terrible amp overall. I don't recommend it. The crossover settings aren't that good. Designed for SPL. Had 2 catch on fire and scared the crap out of me in traffic. Thank God I had quick thinking or I would of lost my car. Currently I have it hooked up to a DSP so the sound quality is amazing now.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz Yeah that’s what scares me about Brazilian amps. They are known to be fire hazards and have terrible sound quality. I had one Brazilian amp and it caught fire on me also. I like the small compact design of Brazilian amps, but I think the technology isn’t quite there yet, it takes an external source to make them sound good and somewhat reliable. But anyways, I’m looking forward to future updates on your system!
Man I ordered mine without doing research lol ok so I bought 2 x8 v3 what amp would you recommend to run it?
if you want to go full bridge go with taramps. Other than that just look through the comments. A number of people found other amps by audio legion, black brick audio. Always do research before purchasing any amp. This SFB amp in particular is such a hazard it could potentially be life threatening. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves.
I have 2 SA’s 12 Sundowns what will be good amp to buy
Plenty of choices. Just browse the comment section on this video. Some people went nemesis audio. Audio legion had a crazy sale not too long ago with reliable amps. Taramps is even a better choice than these SFB's OR SIA's. Stay away from them. Not worth the risk to your health, equipment or vehicle.
Mine went out today didn't even blast the music that loud and amp smoked off of 2 8in sundown sub running on 1ohm lucky I had a circuit breaker to kill the power (cheaply made)
Yet another one. Sundown should be ashamed of themselves. They really need to send out a mass e-mail offering to replace every SFB on the market.
@@AwestruckOffRoadingHertz I agree, so disappointed in the amplifier
I'm seriously debating starting an organization of every person who had one go up in flames and start recording everyone's experience with flames and how it got smoked and the danger it caused. If I get enough people together, I do believe we can get Sundown to make some sort of addressment and even possible replacements.
That's a jam
Thanks man!
