- Umori is the perfect compliment to a mutate deck. And Nylea is pretty much a better Umori. Let's get back into mutate, this time with feeling!

"Flowers are fine, but whiskey is better" Absurd Heroine
2020. I agree 100%.
subscribed for that !! cheers
You had lethal on 8:55
- Play the second Essence Symbiote as you did.
- Then because you have both Nylea and Umori, you have Mutate cost discounted.
- Mutate the Bat on top of the Barkhide Troll
- The mutate activation triggers the Essence Symbiote. Those symbiote give the mutate creature two +1/+1 counters
- Exact lethal to fully attack
Perfect nickname tho
nice answer but the nickname killed it
OMG! thats the best necklace so far!! i love that hue!
Sitting here drinking Proper 12 watching the awesome gameplay. Youre right whiskey is better!
Once again a very refined and well engineered deck engine, I dig it! Still playing your flicker deck a lot as well :)
I found this channel today, just watched a lot of your ikoria guides even if i am veteran.
Keep it up with the nice work!
Very cool video as usual!
Trying to maximize Insatiable Hemophage has been my pet hobby since Ikoria released.
My version plays Unsummon, Lore Drakkis etc. Applied Biomancy to bounce their stuff while you still target your own guy for Essence of Growth. Or when you get to that "15 lands on the board" stage, bounce your own Hemophage stack and recur it for maximum drain (start with the Hemophages on the bottom of the pile). I think Hemophage needs that sort of card draw and recursion help if you want to actually drain people out with it. Otherwise Hemophage is just normally one of your least good mutates to draw if you're trying to win the game on the board. Not to mention that mutate is just not a good way to build a board (excepting Starrix).
Another idea I had seems completely bonkers (but what if it works??). Use Heartwarming Redemption to gain life and discard a bunch of stuff, then use Lore Drakkis, Find // Finality and Forever Young to repeatedly recur Hemophages and Drakkises. The rest of the deck can be one-mana cyclers and Zenith Flares. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My wife and mother of my children loooooves whiskey, but damn, I cant get her to play any Magic. Que sad trombone..
I do like the chaptering you have applied
You should try season of growth in your mutate decks that dont have umori as companien. I run a simic version of this deck with the 2 mana frog in blue that gives you cost reduction aswell but is much cheaper
Great video. I've seen plenty go for this but not with card draw such as yours. And awesome how you kept your cool against the sultai. But then yet then of course I was having trouble seeing their win con. Chances are they may not have drawn it
Thanks for this. I'd love to see you brew in Historic.
As far as the separate creatures go from mutate, one thing I like to do is get a decent stack of creatures and when my opponent has little to no creatures, I’ll use teferi’s time twist and they all come back with +1/+1 counters
You have a knack for making a video in the color combo I've been work shopping at the moment. I'm excited to try this one!
Just wonderful as always)
I've been running almost the same deck every now and then in ranked for a few weeks, except splash blue for 3 of each Parcelbeast and Pouncing Shoreshark. Way more card draw and a little control. Drop 2 geese, symbiotes, a Nylea, and a bat. It's probably around 60% win rate in Mythic. Not as good as my other Sultai Mutate deck, but definitely a cool card to focus on and build around. I think people expect the Starrix, but before they know it, they're dead.
Side note, I'm working on adding Teferi's Time Twist into a Sultai mutate deck. I've straight added it to the deck above (sans Umori), to mixed results, but I think it needs bigger dudes. That way when you go wide it's really not fun for them. Maybe there's some decks out there already, haven't bothered looking, but thought it'd be fun to see work. Add Starrix and it's multicolored, flying, sibling to it, any thoughts? Maybe a video of that one? I mean who doesn't love a little jank with your whiskey?
Nobody likes blood as much as the Insatiable Hemophage.
Absurd Heroine have you tried running Auspicious Starrax insted of Symbiote? I feel that would make the deck a bit stronger since you can spam out more creatures with and lands with Starrax and have a 6/6 on board
Hey, really digging your decks you've made on this channel. Made me interested in making more than a few.
I've personally recently made a really awesome toolbox Nethroi deck that's been performing really well.
It mills early game and sets up blockers with glowspore shaman, mire triton and acolyte of affliction. Sets up mutate and stalls the game with removal in Greathorn, Dirge Bat, ECD, Find/Finality and Realm Cloaked Giant and goes for a big finish with Nethroi shoring up stuff like Plaguecrafter, Knight of Autumn and Polukranos (low power creatures with strong ETBs) to basically both stabilize and win on the spot.
Wonder if you had a take on a Nethroi deck yourself?
Actually I do, and am planning on making a video on it at some point. It's got a lot of the same stuff you mentioned, with as many 0/0 creatures as are useful for Nethroi targets.
Woow the thumbnail pic is so attractive
Chittering harvester may be an option instead of bat since I've seen a lot of other decks with "paradise druid+mutate" strategy
Umori cost 4 for a 4/5 that makes some spells cost less. Umori is probably the best card in Ikoria. And he/she is good for devotion.
Silver bullet: Whiskey with Amaretto. In case you want something sweet
Oooh, that sounds awesome.
Would you mind referring to the cards by their actual names as opposed to or in addition to their Godzilla ones? I don't know all the promo versions so it's hard to keep up if I'm just listening and not looking.
Yes, I will try to do that from now on!
I really wish they'd labeled the Godzilla cards differently. It's very strange all the text and their actual identity refers to a different name than what's in the standard name box, and it does make it hard to identify casually. The alternate name should've been the one displayed in special font. It could've even been integrated into the art!
@@AbsurdHeroine thank you!! Deck looks fun :)
HP 12 easily top 3 inexpensive scotches out there. Highly recommend Tomatin 12 as well!
I'll put it on the list!
Nice deck but don't need 4x Nylea and 4x goose, better to insert 3/4x boneyard lurker due to incraese mutations and/or get back permanents from graveyard. 2x goose, 2x nylea and 4x boneyard lurker will switch deck to higher level.
I did not know anyone else was playing Lurrus of the frog
Sipping whiskey is the only proper way to drink whiskey
Does that Nylotha reduce the cost of mutate also?
Wondering why you didn't mutate the Bat onto the Druid in the second game, wouldn't it have killed the creature anyways?
Too bad Hemophage didn't get to pop up much. Fun deck though!
I thought it was weird the way you order the mutate if you were going to put the second Hemophage, you should have done that first then migratory great horn. You would drain an extra 2 life.
@27:41 Yes, if you destroyed the enchantment you would get all them back as different creatures. I have done it enough with Kaya's ghost form and Teferi's time twist. Been working on that deck, it is a bit too slow. You need a 1 or 2 drop creature opening hand or you are just too slow.
This is just my opinion I just don't like that companion in the mutate deck. I liked you used Barkhide Troll, I was trying to use him in a seles mutate deck since the spider and flying fox gives +1/+1 counters when mutated so you could unlimited give him hexproof and not rely on the druid. It sucks so far, but that is half the fun is finding some way to break it.
Best single malt for me is Balvine 21 year. Mmmmmm
For card draw, I suggest to replace 2 Nylea with 2 Henges
If I were to do that you'd have to give up Umori as a companion. That's totally an option, though, since he's not terribly impactful.
@@AbsurdHeroine Could go beast whisperer
6:00 why does this make sense?
Ah! Sorry for being unclear. I was expecting them not to block at all so they keep their cavalier. Cavalier to me is more important than preventing 2 damage.
@@AbsurdHeroine No, no worries! I thought you meant because they blocked the 2/2 instead of the 3/3. I was like man I missed something.
mutate target so season of groth should be useful
Hehehe frööög
Hmmm.... Some really inexcusably bad plays here...sorry... not hating, just pointing it out (Could always just blame it on the whiskey lol)
What are you pointing out?
