When you look up the meaning behind the lyrics to this song it is pretty heartbreaking. It is referring in large part to the former band members (Syd Barrett) decent into madness. The lines “and if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes” is a reference to times when Syd would be playing a different song to the rest of the band. It’s an amazing song with a very haunting & sad backstory.
I think what happened to Syd affected Roger Waters the most. I got the sense what happened to Syd almost took Roger's mind too. Intead, it lead to some masterpiece's of writing.
And if the dam bursts and thunder in your ear
You shout but no one seems to hear
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon!
But it was really wish you were here with Shine on You crazy Diamond,it's spells out his name, that really covered Syd's downfall,if indeed he had one.
Dark Side of the Moon is such a brilliant album. Absolutely brilliant.
I know this album is sometimes considered “cliched” because it has been so popular for so long. But is a piece of art, pure perfection. It’s like saying the Mona Lisa is cliched because it’s so well known. This album still sounds fresh and new every time I hear it.
I can completely understand how you feel Floyd are amazing they take you on a bueatiful journey and leave you breathless
No Rock band in history can top Pink Floyd brah..... they're on a whole norther level altogether dude!
Don't forget "Animals" from 1977,..... again, another unbelievable PF album!
Pink Floyd is always a hit!
Keep up with doing the albums love it. Floyd is on another level.✌🏻❤️
when this album was released it quickly moved into the top 10 in album sales and stayed there for 14 straight years.
pink Floyd are brilliantly different.
First headphones / earbuds are a MUST 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧!
Before being dropped from the band, Syd Barrett would occasionally suddenly start playing a different song in the middle of a live set, leaving the rest of the band totally confused. Sadly Syds mental health went down hill from there.
The word "Loonies" / "Lunatic" is derived from "Lunar" meaning "of the Moon"
The spoken words at the very end "there is no dark side of the Moon really, matter of fact its all dark" is cut short. The original went on to say "... the only thing that makes it light is the sun" But that was seen as being a bit too "upbeat" so it was left off the album. There is a version kicking around on CZcams with full version 😉😎
thanks, king
Definitely the best rock album of all time!
everybody has their own holy sh•t moment when listening to this album. for me it was 1981.
Pink Floyd's music is the Leonardo DaVinci of our time.
I'd love to hear you listen to High Hopes from their album The Division Bell.
It's the last song on their last album, and I think knowing that context adds a lot to the song.
Do Animals next. Use the video's WITH THE LYRICS. It will blow your mind.
Yes! More PF. Can’t wait for your Animals journey. Be sure to listen in order. 🙏
Pink Floyd albums are meant to listen to in order as each song leads into the next and the ideas expand on each other. Definitely definitely do each song in order for every album. Some albums you can get away with bouncing around a little but I recommend you stick to listening order. Once you finish with Dark Side, I would recommend you do the albums in the following order:
Wish You Were Here
Meddle
Obscured By Clouds
Animals
The Wall
The Final Cut
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason
Delicate Sound Of Thunder
The Division Bell
PULSE
Piper At the Gates Of Dawn
Arnold Layne (which is an early single)
See Emily Play (early single)
A Saucerful Of Secrets
Ummagumma
More
Atom Heart Mother
Live At Pompeii 1972 DVD
The Endless River
Great reaction as usual man! Keep them coming!
Epic tune. Nj for covering
I know it seems like a long time ago, however in the scope of the universe it was a blink!!! There is a ridiculous amount of crazy great music from the 60s-70's. Enjoy everyday of your life, you will be 60 before you know it!!!👍👍👌👌✌✌😁😁
Wish You Were Here album next
Just remember, those my age(double nickel), this album remained in the top 100 from album release until what was it 1986 or 87? It remained relevant that whole time. It is an amazing concept album. This also lead into The Wall.
You should do a reaction to the entire album. Music deliciousness!
Oh yeah all the people who are speaking are the roadies. The band gave mics to them and asked the to say whatever they wanted
Live performances or videos with lyrics would be awesome!!!
This album was on the charts for 741 weeks
Please watch/listen to Learning To Fly from the Pulse tour. It's also out on Blu ray. Best concert ever.
Impossible to pick a favorite 😂
Waiting on “Animals” 🐕🐖🐑
Just soak it in and listen to them again, it is the experience of PF
really like to see your reaction to
Joe Bonamassa with Jimmy Barnes Live Song is
🎵 Stone Cold 🎵
keep the good work my friend ✌️
I find it amazing that my granddaughter is about your age. And I bought my first pink floyd album when I was 19 years old. And to see you SO excited about hearing more from them is brilliant. There is no age to listen to any kind of music. I am almost 68 now but I still listen to and go to see many band's. My all-time favourite band is Tool, next it's RAMMSTIEN, next GODSMACK. and so on. Keep them coming. ❤
The album "Dark Side Of The Moon" revolves around a central theme that binds each of the songs and which is: (What drives people crazy).
(BREATHE); If the performance required in life can drive people crazy.
(ON THE RUN); If the frantic rush of life can drive people crazy.
(TIME); If the fleeting aspect of passing time can drive people crazy.
(THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY); If the thought of the inevitable end (death), can drive people crazy.
(MONEY); If love, or lack of money can drive people crazy.
(US AND THEM); If the abusive hierarchy between color, power or wealth between US AND THEM can drive people crazy.
(ANY COLOR YOU LIKE); If the illusion of being able to choose can drive people crazy.
(BRAIN DAMAGE); If the fear of losing their mind can drive people crazy.
(ECLIPSE); If the fact that our life seems to be limited to, (All that you touch - And all that you see...) can drive people crazy.
So, we can conclude that even the brightness of the sun may be eclipsed by the Dark Side of the Moon.
Definitely do albums if you can.
DSOTM
Wish You Were Here (the one with Shine on You Crazy Diamond)
Meddle (the album before DSOTM)
And finally...
The Wall (a double album telling the life story of fictional character Pink, his descend into madness and fascism) 🎧😎😉
🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧...il riverbero sonoro di questa reaction è orribile.
Cuffie amico !!!🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Just in case you do not know the meaning of some lyrics. In UK, newspapers are delivered to homes by paperboys who push the paper through a slot in the house front door slot (letterbox). It lands on the hallway floor. Hence, 'the lunatics are in my hall, folded faces to the floor and everyday the paperboy brings more.'.
Have you reacted to any songs from Pink Floyds 1994 Pulse Concert, at Earls Court London?
What a great Show, besides them performing some of their best compositions, they do the whole "Dark Side of the Moon" album from 1973. 21 years after they recorded it!
im new here brother.... i just subbed.... you feel it... the are the shit.... peace... 😎
Dogs of war is a dark side of Pink Floyd you have never heard.. Its on the momentary lapse of reason album.. give it a shot
It's interesting that you say they were ahead of their time because the truth is 50 years ago was the right time for them when society was a lot smarter & able to appreciate them fully. Since then society has dumbed down massively & the music industry just wants three minute radio accessible garbage to pump out to the masses.
I feel lucky to have been around at the time of PF so it's nice to know given the opportunity to listen to bands like PF there is new generation smart enough to appreciate their talent. Hopefully your generation will start to demand more from the music industry than what it's offering you at the moment.
It doesn't get better than Pink Floyd, imo, and I love watching you react to them. I hope when you listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond that you listen to both halves.
Look up “The Darkside of Oz” & react to it if you’re feeling it. It’s the music from Darkside of the Moon overlayed on The Wizard of Oz & there’s no other way to describe it than mind blowing!!! 🤯🤯🤯 The band members all deny that they made the album to the movie to this day…make up your own mind but it’s a hard sell buying that it’s pure coincidence.
thanks, King! yep - this song is almost all about Syd Barrett... as are many of the songs on the both "Dark side of the Moon" and the subsequent album "Wish you were Here"... Syd was a total genius, who sent them in the direction of uniqueness & stardom.. but lost his own way via drug-induced psychosis and probably original mental illness... nevertheless, they persisted without him... I love to see your patience and appreciation! (p.s. "Eclipse" features, once again, the amazing vocals of Clare Torry)
He took to much LSD, he had mental issues prior. LSD didn't help. Other than that he didn't take other drugs. Smoke some hash or weed but that was about it. Weed back then wasn't like to weed you get today grown indoors with lamps.
👏👏👏
You need to do the songs in order. You could fit the first half of the album in one reaction, then do the second half. That way, you will get the full effect of the album; the songs flow together and tell a story.
Dude in a stadium there was sounds all though out the stadium. whether the laughter was across the stadium or right next to you the sound was perfect 👌 and the lighting 😮
Have to admit the years with Roger were the best shows.
🤗 Im so torn. Animals Album (lyric videos) in order is the next logical choice! 🥰 However any PF reaction you do will be enjoyable! 🤭 Can't wait for The Wall Album in order. 🤔 PF takes on even more meaning when you follow the story and see how all the songs have familiar melodies that come back to haunt you within the song & Album itself. 😉 Rush does that too (2112, Xanadu, The Trees or even Bitor & The Snow Dog). Cignus Book 1 ends on one Rush Album! 😒 Had to wait a year before Book 2 starts the next Album and 🙄 we find out what happens when dude comes out the other side of the Black hole. 🤗 It was worth the wait. 🤭 I feel bad you guys don't get to experience that sensation on waiting for a new PF Album or even a new Michael Jackson Video on MTV! 😂 That wasn't just a black people thing either. 🤭😁🐰
HEADPHONES!!!
This is a song about politicians (lunatics) in the news, the capitol, the tv…. filling our heads with crap
Animals is my personal favorite Pink Floyd album, but Dark Side of the Moon is objectively their best. Start to finish, it is a legit perfect album.
yup, thats floyd.
Someone who is on the dark side of the moon,.means they have mental issues. ❤
I’m sure you’ve heard it already , but you get eve more musical nuances with headphones
Top songs not a lot of people react to:
Wish You Were Here
Pigs
One Of These Days
Mother
Dogs
Why in mono?
Choose an album and listen to the songs on it in order complete. You'll get more out of it - seriously!
If you do Animals, do it in order....
You just been to church.
👍🏻
IDEM BEFORE IN LIVE...PULSE.
This shit changes you.
